Simon (Bolero's) Food Diary

Evening all. Haven't long got home, and now that I've gone through the 59 emails that greeted me I thought I'd say hi. :) Had a really good weekend, and have really de-stressed and had a great time away for a bit. Was fantastic being on the coast, and it was a lot of fun. :) That said, I'm sooooo glad to be back to my own bed...the one thing I missed the most, as well as my cat (who apparantly has been very weird missing me. Awww). Didn't go too mad with eating & drinking, and I'm ready now to get right back on plan come the morning. :) x

Evening all. First day back to reality, and already got fun on the cards...my laptop has decided that it needs replacing (the technical term is that the screen and a few other parts are "b*ggered"). It would be repairable, but will cost more to sort out than to just buy a new one...and since I really can't be bothered with rebuilding this beast anyway, I'll be off to get a new one on Thursday. :) Did consider just getting a tablet, but think that a laptop is of more immediate need given my need to have access to my family history software. Looking forward to having a new toy! :)

But anyway, my diary for the day. Oh, and a note...my weigh in last week dropped me down a point a day, so on 57 now. Not sure if that's good or bad. lol

NOT USING MY WEEKLIES DUE TO THE WEEKEND

Mmmmmm - scampi! May have to indulge after next pay-day (using up what is in the freezer at the moment!)

Very much missed my diet and all my friends here, to be completely honest. :) It was nice to have a break and visit a mate in uni, but there's one thing I'm certain of...I can't do the student life of nightly drinking and eating rubbish at unholy hours of the day in the long term any more. That said, I did enjoy having a full English breakfast every day and the sheer decadence of sitting in a pub on Aberystwyth pier eating cheese & chips served in (of all things) a child's seaside bucket! :)

Fighting the urge really to go eat something I shouldn't a bit, but that will pass. I had planned not to use my weeklies (on the theory that they would have been used over the weekend), but I think I'm going to have too use a few at least. Probably won't make much difference either way really at (any gain won't be due to a snack on Monday after this weekend), and no point leaving myself feeling hungry really.

Haha! Ooh, I have that to look forward to (provided I don't mess up my a-levels :p) Can't remember the last time I had a full English brekkie.. mmmm! Now that's a plan and a half! Cheesy chips in a bucket.. well, original I have to say, haha! Bit of a nostalgic feeling there I guess?

Maybe have a piece of fruit/drink some water to pass the food craving? or just keep yourself busy, I find it's usually a sign of boredom if not genuine hunger!

Perhaps allow yourself 7 weeklies/day for the rest of the week? Any gain will be off in no time at all anyway :)

It was an amazing little town, and I so wish that I'd gone there to do my degree now. Ah well, maybe if I can afford to do a masters one day then I shall. :) I suspect the bucket of chips is there for the student crowd...I mean, how can you not try a bucket of chips after a few pints? lol.
For anyone visiting the town, though, I can recommend Morgan's Cafe. They serve what was, in my opinion, the best breakfast I've ever had! Didn't try their challenge though (a monster breakfast consisting of 2 sausages, 2 bits of bacon the side of my arm, tomato, 4 bits of toast, 2 bits of fried bread, beans, 2 fried eggs, 2 bit of black pudding, mushrooms & a choice of chips or onion rings, served with a stack of pancakes and a mug of tea), where if you can eat it in 20-minutes you get a free meal there on your next visit. Thought that would be taking things too far. lol.

Fruit is a good idea. :) Do seem to have a craving for oranges lately, for some reason.

In other news, don't suppose anyone has any idea what this "new" WW thing is coming in December? Don't like mysteries. lolol

Hm, maybe it's because oranges have something a bit Christmassy about them? lol

Indeed, I think I'd order chips just for the fact they came in a bucket rather than anything else but I'll pass on the beer - I think it tastes absolutely vile, lol :p That breakfast sounds amazing excluding the black pudding :p Don't think I'd be able to manage it though! Or even halfway, haha!

Hope you have a good day today Simon!

I do agree about beer...it tastes like someone's already digested it, in my opinion. Happily stick with the cider I've been on. The points may be a bit higher, but cider does have the advantage of actually tasting nice. lol.

I did try the monster breakfast on its own (I didn't notice the challenge until after I'd ordered, not that I'd have tried it anyway), as I knew Sunday I wouldn't get a chance to eat until I got home around 5 that evening. Was very nice, although I wouldn't do it again.

I'll bring yesterday & today's food breakdown this evening. I had a migrane come on last night, so headed off to bed very early...and oddly slept through my alarm this morning. Running a bit behind this morning, so will catch up on things after work. :)

I've never liked beer...it's vile! Can't see the attraction to drinking something that tastes like toilet cleaner! lol. But anyway, I'm quietly confident that the scales won't be quite as bad as I thought come the morning. Largely as my tum has been somewhat "upset" today. Must had lost a good stone on the loo today!

The food has been quite nice. I made a massive pasta bake last night which has done me for two days. It was a make-do bake that I made with half a jar of hotdogs (6 hot dogs), 250g of whole wheat pasta, a tin of tomatoes, two onions, and a jar of Levi Root's rasta pasta sauce. Just dry fried the onions and hot dogs (which I sliced up), and mixed in with the sauce & toms, and then mixed in with the pasta which I shoved in the oven for about an hour. Very tasty! Should probably have made 4 portions, but I was greedy and had it as two. lol.

Aye, it could have done with a bit of cheese on top. Usually would have, but it was getting a bit points heavy with the rasta pasta sauce. Don't think I'll be buying it again, given the points in it. Think I'll refine the recipe and make my own sauce next time. Lovely bit of experimentation. :)

When you're a student you'll drink anything!! lol. ;)

Well I've just off the scales, and it's a 4-pound gain this week. Not all that disappointed, as I'd expected some kind of gain and given that the scales were giving me an even bigger gain at the start of the week (nearly 8-pounds) I think it's about as good as I could have expected. Am hoping to get the most of that off in this coming week now, so fingers crossed.

I've not long rage-quit on technical support. I got my new laptop today, which is working great. The problem is the free copy of Norton that came with it, which works fine...right up until I restart my laptop, and then Norton stops working...as well as my Internet completely. Can't get more safe online than not being able to get on at all! Giving up on it as a lost cause, and have just downloaded some free software instead. Not doing anything insane online, so guess Windows Firewall will do for now. :p

Morning all. Not feeling all that good today...I've woken up with a runny nose and a sore throat, so think I've got a cold come on again. Joy! I'll live though. lol.

Am making risotto for dinner tonight for the family, so looking forward to that. :) Not sure of the points on it yet, as I'm not able to weigh the chicken until tonight as it's still a whole chicken. lol. Was cheaper to buy a whole chicken than to get breast, so am just going to remove the breast and use that tonight. Leave the legs for my parents for the weekend. :p I'll put my diary for today and yesterday up later too, as I've done my usual trick of forgetting yesterday. lol.
