Total Solution South Pacific

Oh dear....My builder is ill, so no progress on my house.Trying to see the positive side though - more opportunity to have a good clear out to the charity shop before he comes back to work!!

Hi Darcy. Could you have anything left to throw out?! Great day outside. Enjoy the sun (your builder is!!! hehehe).

Sending some weight loss mojo your way.((((()))))

You know its very possible that you have put on loads of muscle with all the clearing out you've been doing? That is hard work. I still have enormous difficulty reaching anything on the floor. If I had to start clearing rooms...gees....

Take care

Hee hee - believe me, loads to throw out! My Mum was a hoarder, my Dad is a hoarder - guess I got the genes!!:D

......but it's all going now, for definite!

I hope I am building muscles after all this furniture shifting! Might explain the stubborn scales :)

Difficult day at work, and my Dad is being a trial this evening but I will be strong and say TS :D

I find it hard to throw away stuff but I have to cos the kids just destroy everything. House used to be full of things that "meant" something to me. Now, not so much. My father was brought up during the war and he would keep a bottle top "cos it might be useful someday". Never saw all the bits and bobs as rubbish. My mom has no sentimental attachment to anything and would give the cat away to clean the spot in front of the fire. They were always at odds!

Hope builder reappears soon.

It is not physically possible for you not to lose significant weight on this diet so it must be muscle. Keep the faith and stay strong.

My Dad is 87 and was brought up in one room for the whole family in a Dublin tenement, very poor. He also keeps things 'just in case', like your father. My Mum was also from a poor background. Her hoarding was more of the supermarket 'special offers' kind. She died 5 years ago, and we're just now using the last of her stockpile of bin bags and things like that!

I keep sentimental things. Starting this clear-out has been very liberating though as I was starting to feel overwhelmed with all the stuff in the house.

I am determined that this is my year!

I will lose weight

I will get the house sorted

I will get my dental implant

..........and all of these things are happening! :D

Thank you for all your support Belle. I truly appreciate it :)

Hi D had a good day? This weather is fab xx

Really hoping for a good weigh in this week.

I have been absolutely TS 100%, done lots of physical work shifting bookcases and wardrobes, and drunk gallons of water

......surely something's gotta give? :D

All positive vibes gratefully received guys!

Hi Darcy, Thats strange. My dad would have been 86 this year (we lost him 10 years ago) and he too was brought up in Dublin in a small house with his six brothers. THe times were apparently very tough then. The hoarding must have been a product of their experiences during what we call "the emergency" (the 30s depression and the war).... I sound like an old fogy now but I think things are TOO disposable now. I am amazed at how much packaging food companies are allowed put around simple things like biscuits. Its SUCH a waste. AND I hate that show "Hoarders" where they MAKE people throw away their kids old clothes and toys... They never make anyone throw photos away and yet for me some little memento is more important than a photo could ever be. Having said that I still watch it!!!

So glad to have your support too. Love the chat!

May I hazard a guess that your builder will reappear on Monday, once the sun is hidden safely behind a cloud?!!!

Belle, you old cynic you - are you suggesting the builder is out sunbathing?!! For shame! :D

Dad was brought up in a lane at the back of Merrion Square, 7 in one room. Tough times for sure. Happy memories for the most part for him though, and he has a fantastic memory for details. I took him back to Dublin a few years ago, just him and me, and we had a great time wandering around his old haunts and lots of craic along the way. Sadly he's too immobile now to do the trip again - though he'd dearly love to.

His sister is 100 this year, and still ruling the roost - nothing gets past her I can tell you! She lives in Kimmage with her daughter. She was a cleaner in one of the Magdalene Laundries, and even remembers the Easter uprising. Lots of stories to tell - fascinating lady.

Trying hard not to hate this new forum format - but I do hate it.Smilies won't work half the time, and also paragraph breaks are ignored. Perhaps it will settle down?

Classic example - the post above had paragraph breaks in it! Now it won't allow me to edit either. Not a happy bunny.

Layout is still the same for me on the phone and ipad so I have avoided the main computer for the same reason!
He will get it sorted I'm sure, just takes time.

Re the builder, he will be be back with extra energy after his rest maybe a little more tanned ;)
Stories of Ireland are fascinating and your aunt a 100 this year wow!

Good luck with this week's WI XX

Wow. There arent many left who remember the easter rising. My gran did but she was born in the 18 hundreds and died when I was a child so I could never quiz her on the details when I was old enough to care. She was gone. AND the magdelene laundries. Your aunt experiences ought to be written down a la Laura Ingalls cos there arent many like her left. How lovely to still have her around. My Dad lived in Rathmines near the big clock. They were just about two miles apart. Cool!

If you have those longevity genes its really worth your while dieting!! You want your hips to still work when you're 95!!

So how is the diet going. You are still 100TS I take it. You were supposed to have a sunday dinner last sunday I recall. Did that happen? I am thinking an aam week might help you. You KNOW you can stick to the diet and you wont be bold and let yourself get out of ketosis. It might restart the losses. No pressure though. Just a thought.

I also hate the new forum set up. Didnt like to say that out loud though!!

Thanks Ali :)

I love my Irish family! My other auntie made 101 before she passed away a few years back - she was one tough cookie as well :D The auntie who is 100 this year was recently made a great- great- great grandma! She remembers each and every one of the children's ( and believe me, there are a LOT ) names and birthdays.

I'm certainly hoping the builder comes back soon - I was on a roll getting everything sorted!

Thanks for the good luck vibes - boy those scales had better play ball this week!

Hi Belle!

Auntie Lizzie is amazing - and a tough old bird!! She became a great great great granny this year. My other Irish auntie lived to the grand old age of 101 and was independent up to the last few months of her life.

You're right though - if I live that long I want to be mobile!

I did have a meal on Sunday - and really enjoyed it. Been back TS since, and hoping for good things come weigh in on Sunday :D

Well you kept quiet about the aam!! Hope it was yummy. Im really hopeful that will boost your body to shed a few pounds. God knows you deserve it.

Wouldnt it be lovely to find that the solution was to eat more?!!

Belle

Yes i am up at 5.15am. Worried about work and cant sleep.

Boy you were up early!

Hope work was ok, and you're a bit more relaxed now.

I did enjoy my meal very much. I am thinking to maybe do that for a while - one meal a week - to see if that helps :)

Had a few more nice compliments at work today. So although I can't really see it myself, it seems others can :D
