I work in retail. Consequently I now hate people. Dan's been trying to persuade me to go back to school and retrain but I'm too scared of not having my own salary. I'm too independent to rely on someone else financially

I know what you mean, I have worked a lot in retail too and you do often see the worst of people don't you? People who are normally polite and pleasant seem to behave badly with someone serving them in a shop. I used to think 'Just cos I'm serving you doesn't make me your servant!!'Could you maybe go part time and then do a course in your spare time? Is there something else you would really like to do for a career?

I have no idea what I want to do, that's the trouble I've considered it, but I don't think it would work. For one thing I don't think I could do my job part time, I work in the financial sector so I'd end up trying to do the same job with the same targets in half the time.
I think if I knew what I wanted to do I'd maybe make the leap, but apparently going part time to get a puppy and bake cakes is off the table!!

I hear ya! I'm in retail too, in sales. I hate targets etc. I've asked if I can switch departments but apparently I'm good at my job so it's not it the interest of the business to move me maybe when I go back after sick leave they might let me?! I can but hope. Something stress free sound lovely
I wish I know what I wanted to be when I grow up too. Keep swithering with going to uni/college but can't find something that I really feel I would like and be good at. It's so blooming hard!! Who'd be a grown up?!
