The diary of a (not so-Little)Sausage

Today's food diary in total!

Breakfast:
Mango, melon and grape fruit salad
Activia snackpot

Lunch:
Jacket potato, chicken breast, spinach leaves, LOADS of cucumber and light dressing (1 syn)
Activia snackpot

Supper:
Many-veg risotto with butternut squash, mushrooms and sliced peppers and a glass of wine (6 syns between 4 portions) Extra veg on the side!

Hifi bar (HEb)

Glass of wine (6 syns)

Total syns: 7.5

Haven't had supper yet, and didn't think I would feel like cooking at all - work hasn't stopped even though I've been home for an hour - but I really wanted something comforting! So, am cooking a risotto which is totally free. Have been totally on plan today, and feeling virtuous for it! I may even treat myself to a glass of wine with supper.

I am really enjoying Slimming World. The control it has given me, when all else seems so out of control, is awesome, and the losses on the scales jut push me to work as hard as possible to stay on track. There are currently three things that are spurring me on: firstly is an industry dinner (very posh do) in Cardiff. It means wearing a posh frock and everything! The last few years I have felt so out of place and I would love to feel better about myself this year. Next, is a work trip to Nashville. The thought of losing weight for this trip in June is really making me focus! And lastly is the trip to Argentina that I hope to make at the end of the year. I haven't seen most of my family for years and would so love to lose weight and surprise them all. So, they are the three main things that make me focus (not to mention the fact that I would love to feel better about myself, not be 'the fat one' in photos and not feel like the odd one out amongst my slim friends).

What are the things that spur you on to lose weight?
Xx

Hi hun, great thread! Why don't you post it as a new thread in the main SW section?! You'll get loads of responses!!XXX

Really glad to hear you are enjoying being on SW! Your food as always sounds really yummy!

I enjoyed where you said the things that a spurring you on. For me it's a hen party at a spar in July, I want to look good in a kini! Also just summer in general! I love summer and love wearing little dresses and things.

Hiya, what a positive post. For me

1) to get up and run around more with my don - generally have more energy. Asap as he's grieving up fast and I'm losing precious time. (that is a goal that the improvement in my mental attitude helps achieve, as I progress on my journey - almost unconnected to my actual weight).

2) Superbikes at the end of July. That's when I will tart about in shorts and bikini top. Wouldn't do it anywhere else though.

Jules, I know what you mean about summer... I am a sun worshipper and summer is my favourite time of the year. But I always end up staying covered up and feeling uncomfortable with how I look.

Pinkie: running around with your son is an excellent aim... And as for the bikini - go you! I think it'll be a VERY long time coming for me, but just not having to cover up would be a good enough aim for me!

Xx

It must be a Latina thing! I love summer so much and just hate winter. I hate everything about it - even the snow, and am never properly happy until the sun is out. Once the sun is out even if it's cold I'm like a new person.

When i first started going out with my bf i moved to Barcelona and he came to visit and commented that being in a hot country just "suits" me and he couldn't explain why he just said that everything about me was 'right' in the sun. He says now that he doesn't think I was "designed" to live in England! Must have got it from my mum!!

I'm no latina, but I love sun too. We get more snow than anywhere in the UK (it's snowing at the moment, grrr) and I absolutely hate it. I love that now it is hopefully nearly over and we might get some mice weather. The problem here is we get very few really hot nice days. If bf gets posted somewhere further south I will be so happy at the prospect of winter not being so bad and having a summer!!

I'm sure being Latina has something to do with it. I, too, hate the cold. I can't stand the snow and was obviously just not built for living here. Even though I've been here over 15 years! I'm hoping to go visit my family towards the end of the year (one of the things that is spurring me on!) and it'll be summer there. Which means super hot! I can't wait, and the fact that I will have lost a noticeable amount of weight will make it that much better!
BRING ON THE SUMMER!

Ooh, fingers cross that your bf is posted somewhere further south! X

So, last week at work was hellish, and I've been on the phone a lot today trying to sort out some immediate problems. Hopefully tomorrow will be quieter. I did manage to get out to the supermarket, though, and stocked up on loads of vegetables, some fish and chicken and fruit. It feels great being able to walk through the shop and be able to walk straight past the in-store bakery and not stop and look at the pastries wistfully. Bread used to be my downfall, and now I keep a small 400g loaf in the freezer and just tale out a couple of slices for some toast every now and again. I also am able to pick up deserts for my mum and brother without feeling that I want one, too. Of course, they are delicious and I love them, but losing weight is more important to me and I don't need to leave the room to avoid watching them eat!
I have even roasted (with frylight, lemon and pepper salt - probably the most important thing I bring back from the US when I have to work there - and oregano) loads of veg so that I can just put them in a Tupperware pot and take some to work throughout the next week.

So, today's food is a follows...

Breakfast:
Sliced mango, melon and pineapple
2 coffees with whole milk and sugar - my weekend treat! (HEa + 4 syns)

Lunch:
Selection of smoked fish (est 4 syns for mackerel) with broccoli, carrots, cabbage and a couple of tiny new potatoes

Supper:
Sweet potato, butternut squash and spinach curry with some basmati rice and a dollop of very low fat creme fraiche (was amazed at how much I liked this, seeing as it had no fat and was literally just veg and some stock with spices) (1.5 syns for the creme fraiche)

Hifi bar (HEb)

Total syns: 9.5

Haven't had the Hifi bar yet, as I am still full, but no doubt I will fancy something sweet later!

I did also bathe 2 of my dogs this evening so, although I have not had time to exercise apart from dog walks, I had a massive job! Feeling quite energised, as if I had done quite a workout! Here is one of them, just stopping to say hi...

Thanks, Jules! That is my lab, Schnarf :) He's a naughty creature, and managed to have an argument with a fox in the garden this afternoon. Pic was taken beforehand, so it doesn't show the 2 tooth marks on his nose!
The fish selection was from Asda, and it's got 4 pieces of smoked fish - salmon, mackerel and haddock. Absolutely delicious. The creme fraiche is from sainsbury's be good to yourself range and is 1.5 syns per tbsp. Now need to find out the syns for the mackerel, as I think that smoked mackerel isn't free...

Xx

Red! So glad to see you back. Hope you've had at least a little bit of time to yourself this weekend! Yes, he's named after the cat from Thundercats as he makes the same schnarfing, schniffling noises!

Hope everyone has had a great weekend. Today has been mainly on the phone again, so didn't manage to plant the seeds I wanted to. I reckon that'll be a job for the evenings this week.

Tomorrow I'm off to see Priscilla Queen of the Desert with my mum after work, which should be excellent! I am still gutted that I'll miss my WI tomorrow night. Hopefully, I'll have another good loss next week, though. I did step on the scales this morning (naughty, I know!) and they showed a loss of almost 3lb so, hopefully, I'm heading in the right direction.

Breakfast:
2 coffees with while milk (HEa) and sugar (4 syns)

Was too busy to stop for lunch! Just had an Activia snackpot.

Supper:
Chilli with rice and some fromage frais (3 syns)

Total syns: 7

Didn't feel hungry at all during the day, and I think that's just a stress reaction. Which is a good change for me, as I used to use stress as an excuse to eat a whole load of bad things! Also managed to wrap a whole load of veg in foil and bake in the oven, and boil up a massive amount of swede and carrots and made a mash, so I have loads to tale to work for lunch during the week.

Hi sausage, I think schnarf is a good name for a pooch that makes the same noises as that thundercats cat. How cute! Sorry to hear about his fox fight!

Well done on a good week and for your tin foil veg. Have fun tomorrow! Are you going to do an unofficial weigh in at home or just wait til next week? Xxxx

Thanks guys! I'm sure tomorrow night will be excellent!

Jules, I won't weigh in tomorrow, but will probably step on the scales at home a couple of times just to see if there's a problem anywhere... 2 weeks between weigh ins is a really long time! Xx
