I have put that fish pie on my menu plan for next week now. Fish on Friday! :) Did you have a good day?

Yay for fish pie! Tell you what, it tasted even better tonight than on Tuesday. Had an ok day, thanks. It was our FYE, which means that paperwork will drag on over the next week or so. I'm in the office on my own(!) for the next three weeks, so it's going to be super quiet.

Had some Cadbury caramel nibbles after supper tonight. I actually counted out 15 of them (a small handful) and had only that. And wasn't even tempted to have any more! This is coming from the chocolate fiend who, not that long ago, would quite easily eat an entire large bar of Cadbury caramel. SW really has changed me!

It seems that I'm going out for lunch with my colleague tomorrow, as he'll be out for 3 weeks. No idea where we're going, so will find out in the morning and get a good look at the menu beforehand.

If anyone watched the last series of Kirsty's homemade home, you might remember the cross stitch 'kiss' cushion that she tried to make. Well, I LOVE all thy stuff, and loved the cushions. But, the pattern online costs £75! There is no way on earth I could justify spending that, so I have made my own pattern in that style. Mine says 'hug', and is an ongoing project. The patterns are done, and I'm now testing the 'h'. I'm so pleased with how it's looking so far. Excuse the waffle, but it may appeal to Jules, with her love of cottage-y type decor, and Pinkie, what with your new salt and pepper shakers! Will post a pi over the weekend when I've got some more done.

Hope everyone has a LOVELY Friday!

Xx

Ooh yes I loved Kirsty's home made home! I love getting old stuff but I'm no good with the handy stuff! Could you maybe sell some on eBay when you've done yours? I would snap one up!

Gosh £75 is a lot!!

Keep us updated on your project with pics!!!! :)

I really fancy something arty like that - just not sure on my designs. Probably nerd to keep my focus on the kitchen, bathroom and garden for now though, rather than adding more into the bargain. I'll be really interested to see your progress though.
I'm also looking out for a tall narrow bookcase for the kitchen which I want to sand back and paint white. I'm getting vaguely creative in my dotage. :)

I LOVE all that stuff! I do not, however, have the patience or the inclination to sand anything down. I'd pay my brother to do that *evil cackle*.
xx

Hmmm... ok, so it looks like we're going here for lunch today. It's a really nice place - very modern and great service. I usually have a pizza there, though, so it'll be strange stearing clear of them today. I LOVE the Melbourne pizza. And I LOVE the chilli oil! I may have to have a little and syn it...

I'm thinking of having the Caprese salad as a starter (nice and fresh, using the mozzarella as my HEa) and the Israeli cous cous salad. Pasta sounds lovely, but it's either boring, with double cream or has chorizo/salami (which would make me feel guilty, and that's not cool).

Anyone have any opinions?!

xx

Ooh, it all looks yummy - I do love Italian food, I could probably live off it alone lol

Very sensible choices tho, from a menu I probably wouldn't be able to resist!! xx

Ha ha! It was really difficult to resist the AMAZING pizzas, Laura, but I did! And I feel so pleased with myself! Just a few months ago I wouldn't have even thought twice about ordering a pizza... Today, however, it seemed like a real breakthrough. I did go with the Caprese salad and then the Israeli cous cous salad. Both of which were delicious. The Caprese had a tiny drizzle (more like a few drops) of Olive oil and some balsamic, so I'll estimate it at 1 syn. The cous cous would have been free, but they had dressed it with a little oil, so I'll add 3 syns (1tbsp). The cous cous salad looked quite small when it came out, but I am surprisingly full. I did cave and have a small glass of wine, pushing my lunch up to 10 syns. I do wish I'd said no to the wine, because I'd have been happier with 4 syns than 10, but never mind!

Any restraint shown in a restaurant with pizza should make you proud of yourself hun. x

I know the KISS cushion you mean and it's watching that that's inspired me to get back to cross stitching - keeps the hands busy doesn't it. You can't eat and stitch :) I looked up the price and was as horrified as you!! Love to see a pic of the finished article.

Thanks, EmmyLou! Yes, I do feel proud of myself but disappointment is growing re the vino. Never mind, I can't change it now!

I've started off with the 'hug' one as it's a whole letter shorter. And translating the design is so complex! I will be cracking on with it over the weekend, so will post pics ASAP. X

10 syns is bloody good! I can understand your frustration with the vino, I have all but given up wine for vodka cos it's such a difference in syns. However people look at me like I'm an alki if I order a vodka for the first drink of the night!!! xx

Haha! Yes, I was tempted to have a vodka/diet coke, but didn't think it was appropriate for a work lunch! Xx

Bet they don't. Wouldn't even occur to me that was an issue. :)

Ooh I love Iranian food - lodged with an Iranian guy when I lived in Bournemouth. He used to take me out for an Iranian meal every so often. Was yumptious.

Funnily enough I was nearly tempted to drink a couple of glasses of wine tomorrow when I meat a friend for lunch. But I thought about the syn values and just didn't want to spend them that way. For me too, that alcohol will also mean losing a bit of control, which I can't let myself do right now. I think you did really well though. Good sensible choices. And don't beat yourself up about the wine. You had one glass with the meal - just like normal people do - and you're still on plan. It's all good. :)

Thanks, Pinkie. I so rarely drink that I'm going to stop feeling guilty about it. Like you say, a single, small glass of wine with a meal is what normal people do.

Strangely enough, I've had a really upset stomach all evening, so didn't have any supper. I'm so glad it's the weekend! I plan on walking the dogs early tomorrow morn before going to a local car boot sale to see if I can find any vintage goodies. I haven't been to a car boot in years! Quite excited.

Hope y'all have a great weekend! Xx

Sounds good... I'm just going because it's so close! I still have to sort something out for mama's day. Seriously, my mum is so annoying to buy a gift for. She doesn't like smelly things or anything you'd normally get. May head to Purley way and get her something electrical that she can mess with. And some flowers. At least she likes flowers! X

I agree with Pinkie,

Don't feel guilty. It's part of the plan. That's what syns are for. So that you can have that kind of stuff AND enjoy it and not feel guilty. A new experience for many of us :)

Hope you enjoy the car boot sale. I would love to do that however (1) I hate mornings and (2) my house is full of c*** already, I don't need more !!!

I have a longing to do a boot fair too, they are all Sunday morning ones near me though. I will see how I get on with the run etc. With Mother's Day roast to cook I want to leave myself some time to muck about with the bairn.

Good luck with the running Pinkie. And hope you have a lovely weekend too :)
