The ramblings of a Cheeky Pasterfield

Hiya everyone :)

Thank you for your messages

Cat - Fast Food restaurants are a problem because they are usually a weekly thing in our house and on SW nearly 95% of the menu is super high on syns.

I am really nervous doing SW and I am having second thoughts as to whether it is right but ill try it for a week and see how I go x

All u can do is try it and if it doednt help then go back to what you were doing xx what sort of restaurants are there x

Ah right. Well all I'd say is save as many syns as you can without making the diet impossible. Exercise if you can so you bank some calories from that, and don't get too hung up on it. You have to do a plan that's sustainable and you can work with for the long term even when you're at goal weight. Your losses might be a teeny bit slower if you blow your syns but you'll get there.

I have a mammoth cheat day at least once a week and still lose weight - it is achievable.

And how about trying to make it 3 times a month instead of 4-5? That could help too

I'm with cat on the cheat day once a week, I'm really strict on the other days though to make up for it and if I know I'm going to eat something naughty I try and do it on a gym day so I know I have bonus calories to play with.

Most fast food places have healthier choices these days so you could still go and enjoy the family time without blowing your diet. ... If you went Mcdonald's for example you could switch the burger for a salad, still have the fries as a treat and save yourself about 400 cals x

Im all for a treat each week but i wouldnt oversplurge all day just say in the evening xx i agree with cat x you cant restrict yourself otherwise you will start resenting the diet and going off plan totally. If i feel like a treat its usually a few alcoholic beverages at weekend with a yummy takeaway. Its naughty but nowhere near what i used to eat at weekends before i started SW and like cat i still lose just usually not as much xx you can do it, we all have faith in you x

Hiya thank you everyone.....warning long post :)

I had a lovely long chat with my best friend yesterday and I realised that my problem sticking to a 'diet' isn't really about the plan I'm following but more what is going on in my head

I've been living with a high stress levels but this week I just couldn't cope mentally.

My life generally is fast paced (which i usually love) I have 2 very strong character daughters who are both going through a challenging stage, my hubby has a stressful job which takes him away and I'm a PA to a very busy boss. Along with juggling family visits, shool homework, the housework and dieting. I don't really slow down both physically and mentally.

I can usually balance it all; but things have built up and what with my childminder announcing her retirement well that was my tipping point :(

It just sent my brain into a spin. I had look at new arrangements; weigh up all the options, then life just started running away with its self what work agreeing to let me go term time so quickly (within 2 days) then getting told my youngest has got an new place at the schools preschool. I just can't cope.

Dieting is just one more thing to think about and take up space in my crowded head. To have limitations of weighing, counting or even planning which day I'm on (Green, Red or Extra Easy) just makes me weep.

I'm too mentally exhausted by the end of the day to bother cooking from scratch every day. I dish up quick oven cooked dinners for the girls then once they're in bed I'm too tired to do anything bar throw chips into the airfryer. By the late evening I've got 1000 odd calories (ive been good during the day) and I spend it on cr@p which I eat then feel terrible.

I don't want to weigh everyday, I don't want to count every calorie on Myfitnesspal and as much as I love SW but I don't want to have to live within the restrictions of Healthy Extra B's and the day type I'm on. (I'm happy with the syns limitation) These all add stress that I choose to put myself through.

Yet if I don't do something I'll easily gain :(

With this all said I've decided I'm going to follow the 5:2 plan. I know I can cope on 2 days of calorie counting without much stress but the other 5 days I'm going to be more relaxed.

I've bought a Nutri Ninja so I can include smoothies into my diet and I can use them on a fast day.

I've already tried 2 recipes and I find them enjoyable so my plan is to have one when I get in from work and not snack on rubbish.

I'm also going to give myself a limit of 2 pleasure foods in the day. So im being restrictive but not cutting it out

I know how to be healthy, SW has taught me but I just have to apply it

I am in almost exactly the same place. Like you I need a plan to follow but can't take the restrictions of calorie counting and 5:2 makes me binge. I like the idea of slimming world, but struggle to stick to it when I'm busy.

I haven't decided on a plan yet...at the moment I'm just keeping a food diary, trying to limit food to three meals and a snack to prevent going off the rails.

Now it's half term, and I have time to think (also have a busy job and 2 daughters!) I'm going to spend a bit of time drawing up a diet personality...you know, rules I think I can follow, trigger foods and times, things I don't want to give up versus things I can live without. like I know I never manage to stay on plan on a Fri night, but as long as I'm organised, weekdays aren't a problem. Like i know sugar is a major trigger for me, so I need to take that into account...if I have it on a Friday I can easily spend the rest of the weekend eating rubbish. Like the fact I never have time for breakfast, so need something portable - bar / smoothie etc.

And once I've identified my diet boundaries, I'm either going to find a diet to fit or make up my own one...

One size definitely doesn't fit all, but whatever you decide to do, good luck!

I think you have a good balanced plan there thats not restrictive and u work round xx

Good luck! 5:2 is very appealing isn't it!

Blades thank you for your support as always :)) xxx

Hello Dietninja, that's what I've started doing re making a personal diet plan. My pleasure foods have been decided ie 2 biscuits or 25g Kettle Crisps.

I think I might have a sugar binge problem too. It does seem that once I start I can't stop.

I've cut out sugar in my tea and today I decided not to have a doughnut cos I knee what would happen...I'd end up eating more

That one looks more appealing lol x

Sadly it was completely alcohol free.
The Green colour is a bit off putting but the recipe is really nice.

Spinch
Pineapple
Apple
Peach
Banana
Water.

It's called the toxic cleansing lol

I'm going to try a different one today x
