Tipperary wobbles into 2024

Ok, ive weighed in at 88kg which is a BMI of almost 39 and that is much to much and very unhealthy. Today is Tuesday and Id like a kilo of that gone by this Friday, that will give me motivation for next week and keep me from straying over the weekend.
Stats above and ticker below have been updated and I will need a cheering squad from you all, costumes not mandatory.

Love the pic - cheering you on bigtime!!!!!!!! go Tibbs go Tibbs whoop whoop whoop!

And how brilliant that the polytunnel just keeps on giving, lots of batch cooking in there! if you've got lots of toms, a friernd of mine in italy halves them and put them on a roasting tray (seeds up), salt, pepper and hebs, then roasted them and once it had cooled, blended the mix and whacked it in the freezer - home made passata (slightly pink but delish).

I'm slowly catching up on every thing I missed. You can do this. Your garden veg sounds amazing. Fingers crossed you get sorted on the job front soon too! It does seem to be taking their time. Am sure it's buerocracy as we have similar where I work. Last internal job I got which was a step up in the same team so I would have the same manager HR dragged their feet because they normally need a reference from the current line manager to the hiring manager and my boss had to go over to HR management when they started trying to insist she had to provide a reference to herself!

Yep changing jobs can be so difficult with all the paperwork required. I know im lucky. I got to keepy job during lockdown and got to work from home and got fully paid the 3 weeks i was off sick.

Ive cleaned the kitchen, washed all my clothes and unpacked all the pressies we bought. Now im having a quick lay down to rest my back a bit then have to start on about 2 weeks work in the tunnel.

Just had lunch, courgette and coconut soup, cracottes cheese and ham. Am hoping we have fishfingers for dinner. Ive a shopping list written but am hoping one of the girls might do it for me, if not i will go at about 10am tomorrow morning. I just hate shopping now.

Morning, making a plan for today and the week. Yesterday was OK as a start but I did have bread in the morning and wine in the evening. They are my 2 nemesis and I think more habit than need.
Ive to do school run with daughter 1, she is an L driver so I just need to be with her while she drives. Then I have my shopping list with me which she will do for me. Then batch cooking and lots of polytunnel work.
Ive lots of green tomatoes now so will make chutney with them and soup or sauce with the red ones.
Too much to do I think.

Back from school run and shopping. Bought lots of veg and some meat, enough for the week and need to get some cooking done today. Just having breakfast now, green smoothie with spinach, cucumber, avocado, ginger and coconut milk. I think im going to spend an hour or two in the tunnel before lunch and then cook later.

Green tomatoes always make me think of the film fried green tomatoes. I am assuming they have less carbs when green though as less ripe. Chutney sounds a good idea. Do you make it low carb or traditionally?

Have you tried any of the skinny/No carb wines? I haven't as I like sweet wine and am assuming they'll be dry so stick to spirits and a no carb mixer. Just might help defeat one nemesis?

Green tomatoes always make me think of the film fried green tomatoes.

One of my all time favourites - "I'm older and I have more insurance!" :D :D

I hate to say this but honestly feel the only way - for me anyway - was to give up wine completely. I don't really drink spirits, have a couple of ready made cans of G&T in the fridge, but forget they are there.

Yep i loved that film too and that exact line.
Taking a break and have had lunch, rest of courgette and coconut soup from yesterday and some chicken sausages stir fried with onions, tomato and courgette and three cracottes.
Im cooking mince now as a lasagne filling and will assemble the lasagne later, im using courgette instead of pasta. And not making a roux based sauce but just greek yogurt and cheddar stirred together.
Not actually sure what i will have for dinner, i have chicken sausage left but dont want it for 2 meals in a row. I did do out a meal plan for the week, but more the meals for the full week rather than assigned meal by meal.

Are the cracottes quite low carb? An old Minis friend used to make delish crackers using flaxseed and psyllium husk, we met up a couple of times and she would bring them with her.

I thought they sounded like a lot of phaff to put together - but you've been wrestling with polytunnels and tomato gluts, so I'm sure it would be easy for you to whip up a few batches :D :D.

They are not totally low carb (i must check again) but are better than bread and other crackers and definitly provide the crunchy texture i want. I have looked at some of the keto recipes for bread and they seem to have a lot of eggs in them, i want to keep my egg quota for actially eating eggs.

So many keto breads have so much egg in - but there a couple of cracker recipes that will work with just water which has surprised me - of course, it does get a bit tiring to have to make everything yourself - I've had and liked new beginnings almond crackers but not the price of them! (and you only get about 6 in the packet.)

Oh yes true that on the egg front!

And forgot to ask - how was the flavour combo of courgettes and coconut? Would you make it again?
Yes, i love courgette and coconut and have been making it a few years now.
So one chopped onion and a clove of garlic and some chilli if you want. Then 2 chopped courgettes a tin of coconut milk and some water. Then you can add some curry paste or powder as you like. Bubble up and whizz when cooked. I sometimes then throw in some baby spinach leaves and some chopped red peppers for colour. But really whatever you like goes. I just love the really luscious creamy texture.

Ok back again and really not getting anywhere with this so on DAY ONE AGAIN πŸ™„
It was a bad idea to buy so much food and wine in France, getting stuck in bad habits every evening.
Life still in Limbo and have just started on week 2 of 2 weeks restricted movements cos i was away. Very much an anti climax to having 6 weeks off cos i cant go anywhere. Dublin is now on lockdown anyway so still wouldnt be able to go see my family.
Still no word about the new job which means i will be going back to old job for a while. But no idea what i will be going back to as my unit has shut down. Today ive to practise for an exam for promotion in my old job, apparently its very tough so i need to hoover out my woolly brain and figure out how to do quadractic equations and difficult percentages before i sit the exam.
I have an appointment for Thursday week for the hip consultant, so not going to really do too much until i see him. My back is quite sore now too but Im assuming that is just my body compensating for not using my hip.

Ive just had soup and hoping I can stick to that and herbal tea for today. Soup it a sort of minestrone, lots of veg and a small bit of chirizo for flavour.

Blimey, quad-what-oh equations??? And your work situation sounds just this side of Escher - going back to your old job but it's not there because the unit has closed down! Hope you get it sorted soon.

And all fingers crossed for Thursday - try not to get in the polytunnel too often before then x

Moening, me again, and no... Ive not got anywhere at all. I think im trying to make too many changes all at the same time and just crack. I know they are all changes i need to make, that they are all bad habits that i have caused myself but i just cant tackle them all together.
So task for this week to to cut out the mindless filling my glass with wine and vegging out with Netflix. None Monday and Tuesday so far. Not cutting it out completely, i will have a thoughtful and considered glass of wine if appropriate but not the constant pouring i seem to be doing. I am going out (finally) with 2 friends from work on Saturday and have a lift arranged so that will be a boozey night as we havent been together since mid March.
Then next week i will tackle menu and meals.
And seeing specialist tommorrow about hip so will make a plan for exercise after that.

Morning, me again. I had another wine free day yesterday. I did a good bit of housework through the day but kept takingblying down breaks between jobs. Ive to see thev specialist today and trying to find out exactly what things aggravate my hip
So when i bend over to pick up something (as you do constantly with little ones in the house) its the straightening up that hurts. Hopefully he will have a proper look at it today.
Had 3 nourishing meals yesterday all of which included a homemade chicken and leek soup. But also had cake, chocolate and biscuits. Like i said im trying to estsblish patterns and then break the bad habits one by one. Yesterday was about having home cooked meals and drinking lots of water.
Talk later and stay strong everyone
