TooFatKats diary of desperation ..(and hope)

I am feeling better. I get weighed tomorrow at SW and the Docs so it will be interesting to see the difference in the scales.
although Im not expecting anything. it feels like its going to be TOTM. :( its due in the next few days and I feel fat.
I would love 1lb as a minimum. This would take me to 4 stone :) think Im heading for a sts.

TOTM, that soon...gawd it really does come round, a bunch of us are pretty much the same cycle, so I think I must be due soon.. again.. grrr!

I know I couldn't believe it either. I had to count backwards to just before and into my holiday and that was 3 weeks ago so any day now :( which explains the water gain/STS . I am one woman who will not be moaning when the menopause arrives

Just a thought but do you think there's a genetic link between fat and TOTM?

Water is retained as estrogen levels drop and progesterone rises, so that plays havoc with weight increase, also they say (my Dr) that you're more ikely to experience a weight gain or an sts the week before your period is due and not so much during menstruation, foods high in sodium can also make things worse too!... as if we don't have enough to worry about!

Sounds about right :(
Anyway was weighed at docs and SW today and amazingly the scales were the same!!!
I've lost 1/2lb :) nothing to shout from the rooftops about but still a loss and it takes me to 2 stone since being on xen and 4 stone overall:)

That is plenty to shout about hun!!! Well done :)!!

Hey Kat you may be able to help me...I'm having some birth flowers tattooed in a few weeks I have them all sorted apart from December. I've looked it up and it says it's a narcissus... now I'm a little confused as to what this is... I have daffs in the garden and other flowers that look like a daff but the trumpet is smaller and they were called a narcissus....

is a daff the same as narcissus?

Narcissus is the family name. All varieties of daffs come under the narcissus family.

It works something like this: you are violet bloggs ' bunnyhops'

So kind of Christian name, surname. Nickname.

In the plant world it is Genus, Species,Variety.

So your daffodil would be Narcissus, then whichever type it is, followed by a particular variety.

Does that make sense? There are 100's of species and varieties of daffs

Oooh right, so all my daffodils are narcissus then? Is that right? so it would be daffodil narcissus then the variety?

It did confuse me as in some garden centers they have signs which say daffodil and narcissi, which I thought were 2 different species.

I'll have a look through all the pics of the narcissus and then when I've found one I like, I'll check back to make sure it is, what it is :)

Basically they are the same but daffodil is the common name and narcissus is the botanical name . I wouldn't worry about it. Just make sure that whatever you pick that it is botanically correct. There's nothing worse than looking at a flower that you know has been done with the wrong amount of petals or something else so stupid

By the way- why a daffodil?

According to all the websites I've looked at the daffodil/narcissus is the birth flower for December, the month that my eldest was born, I'm having aster as that's for september for my youngest and July, mine is larkspur...I'm not sure I liked this flower though, so I may have cherry blossoms, they have a nice meaning :) I wanted something that relates to the kids without having their names.

I like larkspur, it's in the delphinium family. Not as fond of aster though .
I'd love a tattoo but I'm not brave enough ( I don't do pain) and also haven't found one that is be happy with forever. It couldn't be flowers ax I'd find things wrong with them and then big be happy

I like the larkspur, but I don't think it would tattoo well. I like tattoo's, on myself, I prefer feminine, delicate pieces that have a personal meaning..and I think the flowers will be good. Tattoo's aren't that bad to be honest, and you can have pretty much pain free tattoo's now, as many places use the cream to numb the skin, I don't mind the discomfort for a bit.

I plan on having one when I hit goal, a forever marker of what I did :)

Think I'm too much of a wimp. :/

Well I've been to Keswick for the weekend. . Finding decent food was actually quite difficult which I thought was a bit strange. My downfall was a deliberate and planned choice as I had promised myself some grasmere gingerbread- yummy yummy :) I've not had any for at least 20 years but it's as delicious as I remember , anyway I've now cut each piece in half and frozen it all . I do allow myself treats as I think we need to live and total abstinence will only cause a downfall in the long term.
I need to get back to filling in mfp. I've not done it for nearly a week and it doesn't feel right. It's become a habit I need to carry on.

Good start to the day, had my protein shake for brekky. Made by lunch - new potatoes, bacon, rocket, tomatoes and cucumber with a honey and mustard dressing. Yummy. I think tea might have to be beans on toast though. Going to be a bit rushed tonight after work .
