Tracey's healthy yummy lovely journey

Wow those are some fab sounding presents and it's lovely that you're spoiling your mum too! I tend to have a £20-25 limit on each family member and then end up spending a fortune on jack. I think I've spent about £150 on him this year which is normal really. Your OH sounds like he's going to be spoilt rotten! I bet you can't wait to see him open them!? It's definitely the best part of xmas! X

Oh absolutely, that is totally the best part. Peter totally spoils me. I really planned to stick to our budget but to be honest I made a few purchase mistakes and impulsively bought a few things that I now realize were crap compared to the stuff I have noticed such as the cooking board game and the cool apron thing. Oh well, live and learn. I figure this is our last Christmas not living together and who knows where we will be next year etc so I love the idea of spoiling him.

What did you get for Jack? Will you guys be spending Christmas day together?

This is the oven-glove apron... designist — Welcome

And here is the game : designist — Smorgasboard - Boardgame for Foodies

Aren't they both so cool? I am so excited about the game!

Now I am paranoid he will see this when he searches minimins haha!

OK, change of plan. My lovely colleague wanted to treat me to lunch and I couldn't resist. It's a Gourmet sandhich company and she told me they do the best sandhiches. In terms of Hexb I figured I only had one Alpen light so far (1/2 hexb) so I could just syn that as 3 syns and use the bread on the sandwich as HexB plus a few syns. haha, little did I know the sandhich was going to be HUGE.

I called and ordered on the phone. I asked for wholemeal bread, a scrape of mayo, and only a little bit of cheese and then whatever salady/veggy things they have. What arrived was an absolute ginormous sandwich. The bread alone was huge!!!! Easily three days worth of HexB bread. I'd say it was equivalent to 3 nimble slices on each side. I dare not think about the syns in it. Probably about 20 realistically. The cheese in the sandwich looked to be safe enough as a Hexb and I would say there was no more than 2 syns worth of mayonaisse. The rest was brocolli salad, feta cheese, a few hazelnuts, lettuce, tomato and carrot salad. It was absolutely DIVINE. I felt incredibly full after it so I am seeing this as my dinner. The rest of the day will be minimal food and all free things in terms of damage limitation.

Realistically the sandwhich was probably about 15-18 syns if you include a bit of the bread as HexB. It's actually not THAT bad. Yes it's more than I planned to have of course, but I actually think I can make this work.

I planned on having 7.5 syns today and pretty much zero tomorrow. I am clearly finished on the syn-front for today.

Plan of action :

Go for a 30 minute walk - DONE! I went straight out after my lunch and I genuinely felt great after it. Still stuffed though, lol.
No more syns for the rest of the day.
For the rest of the day eat very little and only light non-carby things. I plan to have a yoghurt before I leave work, nothing in my gradads house except maybe a mandarin orange. When I get home it will be late enough so I think I will just eat nothing. I might have a cup of herbal tea while I'm watching tv, but I really think that's going to smooth things out.

Sometimes we have to be logical - OK so in terms of calories I should probably be having about 1300 calories a day to be healthy and lose weight at the same time. Today I have eaten.

1 alpen light bar - 70 calories
some banana, a kiwi, a clementine and a small handful of grapes - 250ish calories
Sandwich -
2 slices of thick wholemeal homemade bread -

It was actually amazing. I ended up having nothing for the rest of the day other than about 1 syn of cheese, a .5 syn yoghurt and a dribble of full fat milk in a cup of tea because my dad only had full fat milk in his house! Hopefully that will smooth things out after the sandwich lunch/dinner haha.

So today is Saturday. So far a proactive and good day has been had. I helped aroud the house, made a lovely brunch, and cleaned my bedroom. Right now I am relaxing watching Sex And The City in bed. I get to do this for about two more hours and then I will be getting ready for tonight's night out. It is a friends 40th birthday so I am meeting OH in town and we are going. Hopefully a good night will be had.

Food Diary for Today...

Brunch - eaten at about 2.30pm because I was busy tidying-up.

A banana.
Chicken dippers made with Smash, black pepper and smoked paprika.
Baked beans
An amazing gnocchi side dish. (1 syn + HexA cheddar cheese).

The gnocchi dish -

Ok firstly let me say OMG it was amazing and I had no idea was so low in syns. It was a 400g pack from tesco and the brand is 'italfresco'. I checked syns online and it said a 400g bag ends up being 100g when coooked (does that sound right? I suppose they are very light when cooked and you get about 2 small portions out of a bag). Anyway that means the whole bag is 1.5 syns which is very good because Gnocchi is really versatile and something kind of funky and different to have every now and then.

You will need :
1 small white onion
1 400g bag of gnocchi
About 60g of cheddar cheese, or any cheese for that matter
Coarse black pepper
Salt

Fill a pot with boiling water and add the bag on Gnocchi pit a pinch of salt. Let it bubble away fr about 3 minutes and when they float to the top the gnocchi is cooked.

At the same time in a pan spray some spray oil on to it and add one finely chopped white onion. Add some salt and black pepper. I also added some smoked paprika.

When the onion was cooked I added about 4 tablespoons of the starchy water from the gnocchi pot. It bubbled away with the onion. While there was still some liquid I added the cooked gnocchi and tossed so that the onion and the little bit of liquid covered the Gnocchi. I then crumpled in the 60g of cheddar cheese and tossed it again. What resulted was an amazing silky smooth gnocchi dish with the perfect blend of onion and cheese. It was so tasty and complete comfort food! I highly recommended :)

Ok so not great on the superfree front but i did have a banana first and onion makes things slightly better. I don't plan on having a dinner but I might make a vegetable soup before I leave!

Is it bad that I cannot wait for a glass of wine? Bit of a stressful day in some ways!

I'd read that as 1.5 syns per 100g not that it weighs 100g when it's cooked. I may be wrong though. Perhaps weigh out your portion of gnocchi once its cooked? X

Hi Applekath,

Thanks for stopping by :) i hope you are enjoying it :) do you have a food diary?

Yes I do. No idea how to do a link on my phone but if you look at my posts you will fine it. 'Diary of a lush'

Anyway, i was severely hungover all day and all i was thinking about all day was how sorry i felt for myself haha. In hindsight it could have been a disaster of a day so it wasn't so bad really.

Breakfast - 1 slice wholemeal toast with 1 slice cheese (hexA) and some branston pickle (1)

Lunch - packet of johnny onion ring crisps (5)

Dinner - carvery. I had turkey, stuffing, veg which included cabbage, carrot, parsnip, and turnip. Mashed potato, 1 roast potato, 1 yorkshire pudding and gravy. Ok so definitely synful. BUT i did only get a half-portion and i only ate a tiny bit of the mashed potato and the roast potato which would have oil/butter in them. I would say realiatically the dinner was about 15 syns.

I also had soup before dinner. It didn't taste creamy at all, but i had a slice of brown bread with it and a tiny bit of a butter (probably about 7)

When I came home - 3 free onion bhajis, a banana and an alpen light bar (rest of hexb+2).

So yeah, about 30 syns on a day i planned to have zero is not too good but un fairness i had superfree with dinner and in the soup, i ate wuite 'healthily' for the most part and it could have been WAY way way way worse the way I was feeling!

Even now i'm watching tv and i would give anything for something to nibble like crisps or chocolate. Makes me realise how I used to be and how far I have come.

So I have weigh-in tomorrow an i don't know what to expect. I've had a pretty good week apart from mondays over-synful evening and then today wasn't ideal. But overall i have been good. I haven't been to the gym once though!

I think i definitely deserve a loss. I would be delighted with even half a pound. A pound or 2 would be amazing but considering todays food its probably unrealistic.

Plan for tomorrow is to eat very little. A yoghurt, alpen light and fruit for my breakfast. Then lunch will be a mugshot and some more fruit at about 1pm. I would rather not have carbs but i can't starve myself!

Fingers crossed for me ?

Good luck for wi tomorrow. I dread to think how many SYNS I've had this weekend but today I was in control :)

Good luck for weigh in! Xx

Thanks for all the well-wishes girls :D i couldn't so this without you all, i mean that.

YIPEE!!

I was down 1 pound this week. Absolutely over the moon. I am beaming from ear to ear. I honestly would have been happy with staying the same so to lose a pound is just brilliant.

It also means i got my stone award tonight which felt great. I got it last year but then i went awall and a year of lots of ups and downs ensued. Now I am properly doing it. For real. It's my routine. I'm living and enjoying life. I'm consistantly losing ans it is just the best feeling. I am so happy!

I'm down 14.5 pounds on slimming world now. I'm sown about 20 pounds overall though since my all time highest weight.

I feel amazing.

My plan is to hopefully lose another pound or so this week. I want to really enjoy Christmas so my plan is still to enjoy christmas and stephens day, but i'm not going to go absolutely crazy either. I'll have a nice dinner and a dessert etc and even some chocolate but i'm not going to stuff my face with crisps, or eat white bread. I'm going to enjoy it all in moderation. I'm still going to have my HexB bread with breakfast and grill everything. I'm still going to have skimmed milk in my tea as hexb and i'll have 7up free with my wine.

If i stick to this plan it will mean being a bit naughty for about 2.5 days and being good for about 4.5. Once my naughty days aren't crazy i can hopefully keep my christmas gain to a minimum. I could handle a pound but imagine how amazing a stay the same would be?

A girl can dream :D
