Verity's LL Diary

Had a good run, then made 'crisps' which were more like crisp bread things.
Quite nice with a cup of boullion and the remnants of the soup mix.

Does anyone else use boullion instead of the savoury drinks? I've looked at them and they're the same, only boullion is A LOT cheaper!

I agree they will start once they see that fun, fat Verity (your words not mine lol) will be fun, slim Verity you are no different inside its just the shell that will change and yes you are spot on with the comment about people not liking change.

I went and bought a skirt I wanted to get into, it gave me the belief i would lose the weight and 3 weeks on I am wearing it! so time for me to buy something smaller again now!

Its difficult for me to comment on the emotional aspect of LL as I am quite and emotional person anyway, but I have heard others say they were emotional in the first few weeks.

Are you going to a drop in session as it is your first week? I started on the Wednesday and dropped in on Saturday to change packs and get weighed I lost 6lbs up till that point, what a motivator! x

I wasn't offered a drop in session...? Should I have been?
I'm doing ok with the packs. I dont really mind any of them, and I've found the various ways to prepare them a nice variation. I just cant wait to get some bars!

I've read about cutting up the lemon bar and microwaving it, but have you tried this with any of the other bars?

Emotional phase has passed, and I brought size 12 jeans!
Maybe I should go and get a size 18 for a goal I can reach a bit quicker!

How are you finding it after 3 weeks? Thanks for your reply by the way... It's so good to come on here and get some added support!

xx

Hey you, you sound like you are really up for this, you rock lol!

My LLC holds drop in sessions part way through the week for us to go and change any pcks we done want and for the newbies to get weighed. I suspect the newbie WI is to give you that boost you need as the first few days can be really tough for some people.

I tried the crips once but failed miserably, luckily i didnt use all of the packet but ended up with very little for lunch that day.

I do have the bars but I probably play safe and stick to them as they are rather than try the recipes. I am not a great lover of the bars to be honest with you, prefer the shakes.

The size 12 jeans are a great incentive, but I agree a short term goal is needed just to give you the motivation to get the the size 12 (I have every faith you will get there) I too want to be a size 12, the last time I was that size was around 15 years ago! :wow:I didnt realise it was that long ago!

I have found LL a breeze, my jobs means that I organise lot of events and practically live in hotels, I did think that would be a challenge to far for me, but actually it has made me more determined and focused on the end goal.

One of my colleagues started WW the same week as me, she hs fell off the wagon number of times and lost less than a 1/3 of the weight I have in the same time, that in itself spurs me on the fact that I know LL is really effective for me along with the CBT sessions.

You're welcome for the reply, I am too chicken to write my own diary, so enjoy reading and replying to others.

Have a great weekend. x

Day 4.
First day back at work and I had loads of energy from 6am until about 4pm when I crashed!
I was running around all day, took my pedometer and I walked over 3 miles... around work!
Now I'm feeling really tired and for the first time like I want to give up...

I've got really bad lower abdominal pains, could be constipation? and I'm fed up of the packs.
had porridge again with a bit of vanilla shake, then the rest of shake. then came home and made up half my veg soup into crisps to have with boullion, and half my banana into ice cream, which was nice but should have used more of the powder as was a little bland.
then had the same again later, only made the shake hot and thick.
need more variation next week... and i get to eat the bars!!!! I cannot wait.

Tiredness can be very dangerous... or is it another one of the things I need to realise! That you don't need to eat when you're tired!

other habit's I've noticed now I'm not eating is that I'll come home and look in the fridge... even though I know exactly what is in there. normally I would pick at something even if I'm not that hungry. Rewarding myself? definitely! But I still don't know what for...?

Ugh... negative thoughts all over the place. There seems to be a hurdle being placed in front of me every day and for the next however long. I have friends coming to visit and I'm going to see family which both involve eating and drinking.

A lot of people I've told I'm not drinking (not told them I'm on LL... too complicated) think that it will pass in a week or 2, like it normally does and I'll be out again in no time drinking far too much. I could easily drink a bottle of wine before we even left the house, and then go out and drink a hell of a lot more. I'd then get home and eat, sleep, wake up and eat and graze throughout the day as everyone knows eating is the nicest thing to do when you're hung over. But I've never felt guilty or disgusted with myself after eating, like other's I have read on here have.

I'm also a bit upset about my group last week, I know it was my first one but I expected so much more. It is a lot of money after all.
Everyone says the cbt is what makes LL work and without it...?

Don't want to go backwards but temptation lays around every corner, I haven't cheated, but I have been putting chilli flakes in soup and chilli. is this cheating?

I'm craving junk food too, I never really ate take away, maybe once a month if not less, but now I want pizza and noodles and curry! god how I want curry!

I work in a hotel where I have to serve cooked breakfasts, as a vegetarian I dont get cravings for bacon but I really want beans on toast!

Right this is a load of rubbish... but if I write it down it will get out of my head!

I'm not rocking so much today!

Hope you're well

Chin up honey, it is tough in the beginning, but seeing the loss you will have when you step onto the scales will definitely help.

Stick with it x

ur in ketosis.. ur body is burning fat for energy keep going!!!! xxx

Day 5.
at work again, but feeling much better today.
Made the mistake of weighing myself on the scales at home that I haven't used for months and it shows I haven't lost anything. I know this was a very stupid thing to do so I'm not beating myself up for it. Just want the impossible I suppose, now now now!

Any way... had porridge and a bit of vanilla again for breakfast, it could get boring. I wasn't hungry until about 11 though which was nice.
Made ice cream from a choc pack and a tray full of ice with a stick blender. Used the whole pack this time so was delicious!

A guest has just come in with an indian take away... If I can withstand that I can withstand anything!

bring it on!

just had my last food pack of the day... banana icecream/milkshake in the bath after half an hour of yoga.
Bed time

your a night owl like me!!!

i didn't finish work until midnight... need some time to chill!
day off tomorrow!
How has your day been?
x

Sounds like you have had a difficult couple of days, it will get better, you have to focus on what you want to achieve, not all the things you cant have. Twist your thoughts to be positive ones, I know this can be difficult but it works.

Your scales are probably out compared to the LLC, it would be impossible I think not to lose weight unless you have given into temptation. I bet your suprised when you get weighed at how well you have done, that will spur you on :)

Hope you have a good day today xx

Hi Verity!!! I've loved the honesty of your diary and being honest I've found myself doing the same things. Checking the fridge!! My OH was away for two weeks so no perishables but would still check it. Why who knows? Also there is no junk in the house but still check the cupboards. Behavious probably built up over years and years!

don't weigh yourself on your own scales, it will not help you. Only let your LLC weigh you, they are the scales that count. It does get easier but stay focused on your goal (those fab jeans!!) and I do strongly believe that the more you put in the more you get out.

good luck with the rest of your week!

Cheers girls!
I haven't had too bad a time these last two days, been thinking about food a lot and have noticed the times I would eat, usually out of boredom. And have also been planning ways I can make better choices when I am eating again.
But I haven't had so much as a crumb of conventional food so far so I think I'm doing pretty well.
The water is going down well, I used to live in a very hot country so I'm used to drinking 4-5 litre a day, not so much here as I'm not sweating quite so much!

I've been walking a lot, I walked over 3 miles just at work the other day and dragged my friend out yesterday morning for a walk (he was very hungover... I felt self righteous HAHA! )
did some jogging as well, then some yoga/pilates for 30mins last night. It really tones you up and it helps me relax and sleep better. I have read that running etc can have a negative effect of weight loss, I couldnt find much on the LL website

I've got my first weigh in tomorrow night, I just hope there's a bit more cbt this week. another thing that's worrying me is that my LLC is really quite fat. I don't want to ask her if she's on LL but I think I should, I cant take advise from someone who doesn't follow their own...

All in all I can see how this works and I've realised I have got will power and I am in control of myself. Which is good because I haven't been offered a drop in session (this is my first week) and no one has called me to see how I'm doing. I think I shall raise these issues tomorrow night... I did expect more.

Any way let's stay positive. I'm writing this to get things out of my head and when I read my thoughts they seem to make a lot more sense. I also appear to be moaning quite a lot so sorry if anyone has read this and thought I'm a right old whiner! But It's somewhere to vent and if someone reads something on here and they can identify with it then that's amazing!

I'm looking forward to my first weigh in, although I think most of it is losing water retention. I think that's why most have a greater weight loss the first week. I'm going to a restaurant to see some old friends tonight. I may well have 2 food pack before I go so I feel full and can say I'm skint so ate at home. I have been with others whist they ate, I just kept looking at their food and smelling the lovely smells. Food is a joy! Just got to stop the bad habits and think before I stuff my face with crap. I know I can't eat like my friends do, who all seem to eat what they want and still be thin and beautiful.

one final thought, many people have had 'days off' from the program. although I'm sure a tiny amount of something healthy wont make any difference but is it more the psychological process that makes abstinence work? I will try not to crack under pressure.

Right I have a day off work so I shall go out and have a nice long walk and do some uni work.

I hope everyone has a brilliant day! and in case I haven't mentioned it enough EVERYONE must try the ice cream recipe with their packs! It's delicious and a great way to get more water into you!

xxx

Well done for staying 100% this week especially as you dont seem to have had the support from your LLC that some of us have so far. CBT is definately something that gave me the incentive to look into LL and then start the program.

I would definately ask your LLC about it, I read somewhere that all LLC's have to go through some sort of NVQ program for them to give the CBT sessions. I know some will be less inclined though maybe due to them not signing up to it themselves, after all counselling isnt for everyone.

Lucky you with the water, I do drink about 4 litres but it is forced throughout the day.

Your comments did make me giggle about going out to meet your friends, smelling and staring at the food. Fair play not sure I could do that yet!

Good luck for your WI tomorrow xx

Day 6,
Did a lot of walking yesterday, over 6 miles. think I did a bit too mu ch as was pretty tired by the evening and felt a cold coming on. Was feeling pretty negative as well and cried when my mum cooked a pizza and I could smell it wafting up stairs. How stupid is that! It depressed me quite a lot.
I went to a friends who cooked herself a baked potato and I must admit I slipped up. Not too badly, I loved smelling the potato but I only ate 1 leaf of rocket and a tiny piece (1cm cube) of celery. To be honest I just wanted to taste something fresh and as they were both tiny I dont see it as cheating although I would have liked to get through the first week without breaking.
No time for guilt as got weigh in tonight so just gonna drink a lot of water and chill out today as this cold seems to be taking hold.

Later last night I went to meet some old friends, I managed to get out of the meal saying I didnt have the money for it but went for drinks after. I ordered 1/2 pint of soda water and it cost £1!!!!!!!
I couldn't believe it, for water with air in it! I will be sticking to tap water from now on.
Went back to a very dear friends house where we had a very good chat about life the universe and everything (Lighterlife mostly) and he gave me the most encouragement I have had off of anybody!
I did however join him in a small glass of port.... PORT!! I don't even like port! hey ho it's done now.

One thing I have been thinking about is how much I relied on alcohol in social situations. I am fun without drink! and I find I feel a little drunk around drunk people.

any way weigh in tonight so I shall let everyone know how it goes.

Hope everyone feeling good!

x

good luck x

Thanks

Lost 8lbs tonight, pretty pleased with that.
