Wii Fit & "Gaming Exercise" Challenge - January 2011

24 mins done on TBL.... what a bloody workout!! i can't believe i can get in such a sweat and burn less calories than if on the wii fit... think the calories are defo not accurate!! Hoping to get 30 mins done on wii fit later this morning when my LO is napping but we shall see housework permitting!!

Wooo does it feel good to get active!! Defo be upping my target once i've had baby!! xxx

Emmab77, I got my new bike and racing strip when I had uncovered all the shaded areas on the map on the highest level of cycling. If you are riding along the beach, ride a bit into the water where the waves come in. You may also need to use the blue ramp just above the town (river side) and jump on the rooftops of the town. When I had done that, the next day I started up cycling it told me "Congratulations, you deserve a new bike" or something like that.

Zebredy, I always have more energy and feel happier when I do exercise I enjoy like the wii fit. I am not a natural exerciser, so if it weren't for the wii I wouldn't be out exercising by slogging along the pavements or at the gym. Also, because I drink quite a bit of water during exercise, I don't feel as hungry.

My weight hasn't gone down for the past few days now and I have been sticking to my diet, but maybe not drinking enough water. Usually it shows at least a little something going downwards on the body test, but I am still exactly the same. :cry:

Better to stay the same then gain, you will get there soon enough...

When I had done that, the next day I started up cycling it told me "Congratulations, you deserve a new bike" or something like that.

Not to sure I'm gona get a new bike soon, didn't even know there were any shaded areas lol, will have a look in a mo as off to do the cycling once finished on here. I take it you mean the free cycling course?

Hi thx for reply is the shaded area in free cycling ? cos I'm still on the 1 finding balloons and I only find about 10 then my 30 mins run out :( x
 
Ok worked it out, only had to go down to the beach and uncover the shaded blocks where the water went over the sand and I got my new bike, it said something along the lines of 'Congratulations you have uncovered the whole map' so I just cancelled out of it after doing only 7 mins on my second go, then went straight back into it and got a nice more of-road type bike :)

Now I actually worked it out, (thanks mostly to others on here) :) my hubby has a good excuse to go on the Wii tonight as he wants to unlock his new bike to lol.

Stupid thing is I've done 1hr and 7 mins and I still have 20 calories to burn in order to burn a whole bowl full of rice worth of calories :confused:

Sometimes I burn 110 calories doing the free cycling for 30 mins this time it was only 90 :(

Ah well, its an excuse to go back on there again today, not that I really needed one..

The free cycle is the one with the balloons / beach balls all dotted around. You don't have to seach for them if you don't want to but there there as they add another dimention to that level.

The free cycle (which is the 30 mins course) is the one where you can go where you want and do what you want, and yes (as I just found out) thats the one where you can unlock the new bike, just go to the beach and the waters edge and uncovered the shaded bits that are shown. You don't need to go to far into the sea (if you do then the cyclist kinda sinks/drowns)

I have been to all other parts of the map so the sea front and parts of the beach area where the only bits remaining I had to uncover.

Just look at the small map in the circle which you can enlarge by pressing 1 on the wii mote and you should be able to better see which parts of the beach you still need to uncover...

37 mins runningon the island lap. On training it's the same old ending up at the ruins. Am I missing something? So I went back to aerobics and discovered you can overtake the Mii and follow the dog! I found 3 new routes. You can overtake your dog when another dog goes past, so I've ended up at the castle, behind the lighthouse and through the arch on the beach and I reckon there's another route to find
SUCH FUN!.
Oh and I got my silver Piggy!

Wow this month has really been amazing for our Wii exercisers - well done to everyone :D And I'm really loving all the chatter that we've had this month too, its great to get hints and tips, help and motivation from you all. Sorry I've been a bit quieter than usual but I'm so busy at the moment I'm only finding the time to log in, read posts and leave but rest assured I'm still here and loving all your progress! :)

Well I did 30 mins mainly on the beach uncovering the shaded area and didn't uncover all, so I did another 7 mins (before cashing it in) and it said I had uncovered all the map, so going by that I assume that what ever you uncover one time will stay uncovered from then on..

Have done 2 hrs 7 mins in total today so far doing the step and cycling (woohoo burnt enough calories for a whole chocy bar according to Wii Fit lol)

I was thinking of doing some more later, but my hubby wants to go on it and he said even though I'm not doing the most intense workout I could, he doesn't want me to over do..

To answer all the bike questions:
:)Yes it was after I had done Free Cycling when I got my new bike. and only after I had unshaded all the areas on the map, particularly the beach. Once they are unshaded, they remain unshaded for you.
:)In Free cycle you don't have to get all the balloons, nor is it acknowledged when you do. I can just get all 20 in the 30 mins, but only if I start on the plateau at the back of the castle or right at the end of beach and pedal pretty hard throughout. You'll soon learn which are the quickest ways to get all the balloons, e.g. go up and down the path on the right of the castle rather than the whole loop.
:)In Free Cycle you start in the same place you ended the time before, so if you want a good run, cycle to wherever you want to start, quit and then start again.
:)If you are getting fewer calories for doing the same number of flags, it means you are finding them more efficiently, because it is based on the distance travelled in order to get all the flags and return to the Start line.
:)Also, calories burned depends on your weight, so as you lose weight you will see you are burning fewer calories on each exercise because you are lighter than previously.
:)If you need help finding some of the more tricky balloons on the free cycling let me know, but if you really want to burn lots of calories, stick to the road and do circuits around the island pedalling/stepping as fast as you can.

Sometimes I cycle for speed and burning calories and sometimes I do it to cool down sightseeing around the island. I do the cycling every day because it is my favourite thing on wii fit, so I have pretty much got it sussed now if you have questions. Saying that, I did over an hour just on advanced step today just to try and topple the high score!

I've said it before but I'll say it again, I SO wish that the Cyberbike was compatible with Wii Fit Cycling, it would be amazing, I'd spend all day on it.
When I use my Cyberbike I generally strap 5lb weights to my ankles as the tension on the bike is not brilliant so that helps and it really pulls my legs into shape.
I think Wii Fit would do well to work along the lines of releasing something of their own with an exercise bike too.

Agree that an exercise bike for the wii fit would be absolutely brilliant!! :)

Just got back from weigh-in so won't be doing anymore wii fit tonight...but will try free cycle tomorrow!
I agree with your hubby though you don't want to over do it... plus i think he's syaing so he gets some time on it hehehe!!

Not tried the cycling properly before, but I had a go tonight on the first level, rode all around the island and unlocked the next level. Might have a go tomorrow. I usually do step plus or free step, maybe rhythm boxing. Not sure how long I will be on tomorrow, but I cant see me making my target by Monday. What I have done is so much more than I have ever done, really proud that I have stuck with it. I will continue next month too, will set myself a more realistic target this time though.
