♥ ~ Tanya's Maintainence Diary ~ Year 2 ~♥

Oh right ok, put my quotes that look out of context!!!!!!!!!!
I was on about the carb thing because someone else had been rude and told people carbs were evil and they make you fat and that they had to be ruled out of our diets if we want to suceed in maintaining.

Surely thats against the ethos of minis too - when after our diets we should all be striving for a healthy, balanced diet - including carbs!!!

Oh and I said butt out cuz im sure someone else told me not to express my opionion or something.

Jees this place is ludacris! Everybody on tfr wants a pat on the back for having a blip, for having stupid ideas about cutting food groups out of diets, for taking illegal drugs ... sure the ethos surrounding a TFR diet isnt about that!

you go summergurl!

Yes it may look bad there out of context but look at the hundreds if not thousands of good advice posts that you have posted!

Dont let it get u down xx

You are missing 'the point'....

The rudeness and bad behaviour is demonstrated by the quotes. If you felt that other members were being rude to you at the time you should have used the report post button.

There is a big difference between giving your opinion and advice and shoving it down someone's throat.

Aggressiveness, rudeness and getting stroppy with members including myself is not acceptable and will not be tolerated.

If you do not wish to respect our rules which are there to protect the members of MiniMins as well as yourself you are free to leave at anytime.

Sorry but this is just silly.

Those last 2 quotes were in response to rudeness (as you would put it) to me.

I'm done talking about it.

Can I come at this from another angle as I, too, have been on the receiving end of a similar experience to that which Tan is presently going through.. ... There is clearly a degree of animosity, perhaps jealousy, by some members on the general forum towards those here on maintenance as is expressed by the 'holier than thou' posts. Ok so we may have forgotten the strength that weeks on LT gives one but we also know, yes actually know, how ridiculous it is to proclaim that you are never, ever going to let a particular food group pass your lips again! We are on maintenance because we have succeeded on the diet, we've been there, done that and now we're wearing the T shirt! We're not out to belittle people who are still struggling with the diet as we know only too well how difficult it is, but if we can't have freedom of speech and realise that we're all grown - ups here (or supposed to be) then what's the 7ucking point?

I'm afraid that I think that you've taken Tan's posts out of context......but no
doubt I'll be told off for expressing my opinion!

How many times have I to say it...

Yes everyone welcomes advice and support.

But bad behaviour and rudeness along with aggression and personally attacking a member when they do not take your advice is not acceptable along with swearing.

How difficult is that to understand.

How many times do I have to say it.... I wasn't intentionally ring rude unless the advice I gave was met with rudeness too.

I am actually done with this conversation now any more & I'm not replying. Waste of time as clearly were not going to agree on the matter.

Got called into work early today so took the chance to venture down to the new salad bar open in the canteen. It has only taken a few years for the canteen to listen to what the staff want :giggle: so I've got lettuce, cucumber tomato beetroot carrot and 1spoon of boiled rice with peppers and peas. Oh and a sachet of salad cream. Net cals for the day only 209. I know that's low

Congrats on the 10 miler Tanya, you will knock those few minutes off in the weeks ahead. Keep at it, you're doing a fab job, as always!

Mini, thanks for the explanation on what we can and can't say.

Matter closed as far as I am concerned now.

Tanya, thats great that work has actually listened to what the staff have asked for, and how nice to be able to go and get some salad instead of working out which chocolate bars in the venders are the least calories. I wish there was something like that in my work, we dont have anything except a kitchen with a fridge and a micro. Mind you - Asda is just over the road and 24 hours (shopping........clothes.........yipppeee...........I feel a spend binge arising).

It was lovely to chat to you on the phone the other night too, nice to put a voice to the face.

Going back to your race times - Tanya, SO WHAT if you ARE 5 minutes later crossing that finishing line, like I have said previously, who would have thought that you would actually be participating in such a thing a year ago. Obviously keep trying to improve your time hun, but don't get dis-heartened if you don't get to the time that you hope for. You are doing MARVELLOUS.

Morning, well, afternoon :giggle:

Food is looking fabby today hun.

I know where you are coming from regarding the pay - we have not had a rise in 3 years. Stinks huh!

Thats a joke mary isnt it!

They gave us all shares a couple years ago as part of some pay deal but last night we found out they are now worth nothing and this was the year we were supposed to be able to sell them back to royal mail.

Everybody reckons something fishy is going on as in september they were worth £1,400 and now 6months later a big fat £0!!! I reckon they never planned on paying us it all along.

I want out of there so badly - i want my police job dammit!!! :giggle: x

No, it was part of the deal that we could give them back this year and next which is what makes it all seem so dodgy!

Hmm...........definitely sounds dodgy.
We haven't had a rise in 3 years, but we got a one off payment last year, I forget how much, but I think it was around £180. So last year was not so bad. This year our company have lost the contract, but we are getting TUPE'd over to another company - same sh!t different day probably!

Ours is similar, we had 2 payouts, cant remember how much but then we were due to get our shares given out to us over 3years. The third lot we didnt get because as part of the modernisation one of the MDEC's has to be closed and when it does there will be a £900 pay out (pro rata so not that much for me) but that isnt untill 2013.

Its just such a bummer as alot of people were counting on trading them in this year.

Its a pain in the butt though isnt it not having a pay rise yet everything is going up - i think we should jump ship and go live in Turkey :rotflmao:

Tanya are your shares publicly quoted in an exchange? I used to run an enormous employee benefits trust about 10 years ago when I worked for a big law firm. The value of the shares can't just disappear into thin air! Have you got any more info?

Know what you mean about pay rises.......my new job is paying what I was earning 6 years ago and I still consider myself lucky to get it:(

If its anything like our shares we bought before the recession, they slumped to hardly anything per share, its only in the last year or so they have risen again to nearly what we paid in.

Tanya are your shares publicly quoted in an exchange?

I've no idea what that means!

Basically we got given shares, i think full timers have 711 and part timers are proratad on the amount of hours we do. Basically all we were told is come 2011 we are going to be able to 'sell them back' (we never actually purchased them) to Royal Mail but now apparantly the company isnt worth anything neither are the shares.

But, the thing that is annoying us is they are pumping millions into some scheme that at the minute many people feel isnt necessary.

It's a bummer but at the end of the day as much as I hate my job i'd rather have the job than a £800 pay out from shares.

Does it say "plc" after the name of the shares? This would mean that they are on one of the main stock exchanges and thus you would be entitled to see certain information regarding the shares. What you have been given is known as an 'award' and is quite common place and, unfortunately, the value of the award can go up as well as down. I worked for RBC (Royal Bank of Canada) years ago and made a killing on the shares but stock markets were going up in those days......

You can always hang on to the shares, you never know what they might be worth in the future but check that the award doesn't lapse if you ever leave the company and that they're not a share option that you have to pay for at some point!
