2015 and It's Now or Never!

Morning Emm - speed reading to catch up (or should I| say not to get too far behind). Hope you are OK after your hospital visit.

Morning Em,

I'm glad you got your rugs done (and had some assistance. It's better to not push things if you're feeling stressed. Maybe your friend could come to yours? I think you could lose that stone before your cruise! Maybe even 1/2 by the Tattoo!

Afternoon Mel.. I think this PTS is going to take a while to get over. Good idea to have my friend over but she looks after her grand children almost 24/7.
Hope to keep to a really good diet from now on ...and no excuses! .. thanks for the pep talk..

Just watched Murray in the French Opens and he got beat well and truly.. 6-3 6-2 6-1!! He just didn't seem to get going at all even tho' there were some really good shots.

Great C&W music this morning.. and exercises don't seem to be having any unwanted affects either.. so all good today.

Amazed at how much stuff I've sorted and thrown away. Put a Black & Decker drill and a sander onto Streetlife for free .. it's been ages since they were used so there may be a possibility they don't work but always good for spare parts perhaps.

Really poured with rain but now it's fine and the sun is out too.
Lovely to see my bit of garden all nice and smart now.

Evening chica - glad the garden is looking so good and that the exercises aren't causing any problems.
Mum was told to "keep moving" by the hospital when she was last in.
Not only does it help the body it apparently invigorates the mind too. Bonus!

Morning Emm - glad all is well.

Thanks Bev and Carol.. Did have a very busy day yesterday but I rather over did it.. all of a sudden my back just caved in and I was left with a pile of things on my bed that I was attempting to sort.. a pile of dishes in the kitchen that needed washing.. and all I could do was plonk into my armchair and was stuck there for the next 10 hours or so and then crawl into bed pushing everything onto the floor! So today is a very lazy day in that I can hardly do anything anyway.. Good job it's only me here!
Not to worry.. I've been here quite a few times before.. never learn do I?.. worse things at sea.. :D

Oh my. I hope a day of rest will put you to rights. I've done the same without realizing I was doing to much then was shattered the next day.

Your garden does look lovely and tidy.

Ouch Emm - I hope a rest day today has helped things a bit.
I'm off to watch my recording of BGT from last night whilst hubs watched the GP.

Thanks Mel and Bev.. Must say I feel heaps better already altho' must admit having the codeine to take now is great.
I've also realised that since having my new thoughts on things I've also felt quite positive about this episode as usually I would get all worried about whether this is the shape of things to come and it seems to have had a very beneficial affect on me.
Got about 80% of the tidying done and the washing up so am well pleased.
Diet has been okay calorie-wise as well.. will have to get more veg in next week.

Evening Em,

I LOVE codeine! I so could become an addict (I was given some after a surgery years ago and never slept better). needless to say, I didn't finish the course - I stopped taking as soon as the pain was bearable (I had an uncle you got addicted to pain meds -I remember his struggle to get clean).

I'm glad you had a better day.

I am aware that they are very addictive so I do make a point of giving plenty of time between doses and only take if really necessary.
I think recognising being an addictive type person is half the battle of staying away from taking things that could lead down that road.

p.s. what is that word I highlighted?!

PMSL -- I was reading a bunch of funny auto-corrects to DH! Nuclear should have read UNCLE! My uncle was addicted to sin killers thanks to his negligent doctor. It was real struggle to get him help.

The uncle was married to my mom's sister - but I do think a lot of my family members have addictive personalities. Codeine is amazing stuff.

Interesting thoughts on pain killers.
I'm not a fan so really avoid taking any unless I'm in severe pain with my back, which (touch wood) is good at the mo.

I'm positive mum is addicted to paracetamol. Maybe not in a true physical sense like you can be with codeine - but she certainly has a depency on it.
She won't go anywhere without having some with her - and when she used to come here I kept all her tabs in our bedroom. Otherwise she would forget to take the serious ones needed to keep her well but want to take the pain killers every couple of hours - having forgotten that she'd already taken them.
But when she was in hospital the doctors there put her on regular doses every 4 hours - which she is still on.
They reckon that at 80 keeping her pain to a manageable level is preferable to any posible addiction.
Fortunately she can't take codeine as it makes her sick.
PS I'm sure you do know, but in case you don't, codeine's chemical name is 3-methylmorphine and is a naturally occuring methylated morphine (useful having a chemistry grad as a husband) - hence it's easy addiction. Plus you're recommended not to take it if you're asthmatic.

Morning Em!

It's a little gloomy here - but I'll try and get at least two miles walked with the little dog.

Plus you're recommended not to take it if you're asthmatic.
great medical care here -- as I was told to bring my inhaler with me to the hospital . . . where they prescribed me codeine for the pain.

Garden is looking nice and tidy Emm.:)
Don't go over doing things. You need to look after that back of yours.:)
I agree with Mary - it does look very lovely, and you need to take care of yourself.

Thanks for that info Bev.. I certainly didn't know that about codeine... and I'm with you on not taking anything unless absolutely necessary Bev.. I often leave them out in the evening if I'm just going to be watching TV or the like even tho' my back may be quite painful and then take before going to bed so at least I can get to sleep.
As for the dosage problem I keep a running record of every time I take anything as I prefer not to rely on memory... not always that reliable these days!

Thanks Mary.. amazing how small things can give such a lot of pleasure.. I sigh with relief when I look out of my window now.

Afternoon Mel, It's been quite bright here all morning ... taking care of myself is a certainty today again.. going to go to the dump again with a very old typewriter and a lot of other stuff..Yay!! I soon won't know myself with all this space appearing!

p.s. Sorry, but once again rather slow on the uptake but what's the connection?
I know..I know..I'm really slow on the uptake.. that's why I don't like cryptic crosswords!

Bev mentioned that codeine was not recommended for people with asthma. And, I wrote that I was told to bring my inhaler -- so they knew I was asthmatic, but that they prescribed codeine for me. Not ideal?! I hd no idea.

Monday 9th June 2014

Weight today is still the same as last week.. which I expected anyway but realising that I am the same weight as at the beginning of this year did make me feel just a wee bit downhearted .. :sigh: .. shopping was okay until I fell foul of a box of cornetto type icecreams of which I ate the lot!
Calories so far are 1643 and that includes a yogurt for supper... so not horrendously over the mark but on the other hand not good enough!
Well.. I got down to 13.1 before so I can do it again..

Onwards and Downwards! .. :girlpower:
