2015 and It's Now or Never!

Sunday 25th May 2014

Had a really good nights sleep and felt so comfy in my bed at last.
The habit of sleeping on my settee came about after some very noisy lads moved into the flat downstairs and it took about 3 years to get the council to do something about it... nearly drove me crackers!

Lovely day and went out to Tesco to get a couple of things ready for this diet I have to go on in prep for the gastroscopy on Wednesday. Looking to get some organic chicken breasts which were 2 for £6.50 then noticed a whole organic chicken was £7.50! How on earth do they work that one?!!

Made a spag bol for dinner which I am quite pleased with but I do use wholemeal spaghetti which tbh does spoil the taste somewhat... just doesn't soak up the sauce.

My walker comes in handy when I want to take heavy things to the car for the dump. Sorted out some boards that look so nice and new and fresh that it is soo difficult for me to throw them away. One is actually a formica door off one of the cabinets when the kitchen was refurbished several years ago now.. stupid to keep it but I do find it such a wrench and yet I'm very pleased that it's gone.
I also have numerous tapes that have favs recorded on them but they've never been watched again. Was wondering about the best way to bin them.. I expect there's no need to pull all the tapes out..

Breakfast - Liberte Strawberry Yogurt 100g
Lunch - Weetabix 2
Snack - Bread 2 slices + Butter 8g + Banana

Supper Alpro Choc Dessert 125g + Digestive Biscuits 2

Evening!

I'm glad you got some tossing and clearing accomplish - it does feel good. I have a bag almost ready to go.

Your organic chicken is like people who buy cars and chopped them up because the arts are worth more than the whole.

I hope your prep goes well and the procedure isn't too dreadful.

Turned out to be a lovely day here.

Afternoon Mel, I'm hardly starting on the loads of stuff I have hoarded!

Lovely day here again today.

Monday 26th May 2014

Very pleased that my WI is still the same weight... amazing that after my indulgences just lately.

After abandoning my settee bed I got my cushions out of storage and somehow 2 of them have the zips busted so sat and ripped out those and just sewed the covers up this morning.
Wanted to give away a curtain pole but can't find one of the end pieces.. very annoying that so it'll have to go to the dump instead.
Also have a video recorder which was given to me and is still in the packaging so I will put that on Streetlife and see if anyone's interested.
After looking for various items to throw away etc. I was quite surprised at how many stuffed toys I have sitting around on all the shelves.

Good looks very balanced.

Evening Emm,

Good looks very balanced.

Evening Mel.. the food is allowance from the "special" diet required and now I have to take the other half of this gastrofin which tastes like extremely strong liquorice.. and as much as I love liquorice this really makes me gag! (and keeps repeating too!) :sigh:

Nice bit of de-cluttering going on there Emm.:)
I had some tin peaches last night with cream.Yum yum yum.:)

Thanks Mary... I do keep trying with the declutter. I now have 2 lovely (empty) boxes that I have to throw away.. recycle of course.. they look so lovely and clean and smart and it is so idiotic to keep them but there's always that little voice that keeps telling me they may come in handy!!.. and a Quality Street tin which is beautiful.. and people do collect those sort of things!! . (I keep hiding it so I don't have to decide).. :argh: !!

Tuesday 27th May 2014

Very odd sort of feeling all day waiting for the effects of being on this odd diet but it completes my calorie intake allowance for the day so that shouldn't be a problem. Also, didn't have any dramatic affects from the Gastrofin I took last night but then my guts are like cast iron when it comes to laxative results. :D

Be glad when tomorrow evening comes and I can get back to normal.. whatever normal might be.

Miserable day.. mostly overcast and lots of rain and apparently going to be the same tomorrow!

Breakfast - 6.45am Weetabix 2 - 10.45am Weetabix 1
Lunch - Bread 2 slices + Butter 6g + Eggs large boiled 2
Dinner - Chicken Breast steamed 200g + Potatoe Mash 44g

Cranberry Juice 150ml

Sorry Emm - my mum can beat you hands down. When I cleared the kitchen at the house to move her to the flat I fould not 1, not 2 and not even 3 old sweet tins. I found 8!!! 3 were Quality Street tins of various ages plus another couple of sweet ones and the rest were biscuit tins.
I transported 1 of them to the flat and when I started clearing that out I found another 4 that she'd acquired from somewhere in just 18 months!

Hope tomorrow (well today now) goes ok.

That is hilarious Bev... and so frustrating to us hoarders!.. and not that I want to start a competition on the matter but I do have numerous tins etc. only I usually find something to store in them.. more things that are being hoarded!

Good luck for tomorrow. It is just as well a sunny day won't be wasted.

Morning Emm,

Hope things go smoothly for you today. :)

Thanks all for your good wishes... things went off okay and so different from the last time I had it done.. altho' that was back in the dark ages..no white paste stuff inserted just a load of gas which was no problem so all went very well.
Really lovely nurses and it only took about 20mins altogether.. and very pleased to be able to have something to eat as my app was 4.40pm.
So next thing is I am supposed to have another blood test and see my GP again but tbh I'm going to ignore that as it's to check on my cholesterol levels but I'm not going to take the statins that he prescribed AGAIN for me!
It'll be nice not to have procedures to be done for a while... roll on Xmas!

Great! I'm glad it went well. I hope you get good results.

Had a very good night and woke quite early full of vigour and vim!.. so makes a change..

Not a nice day altho' it keeps looking like it's going to brighten up despite the continuous raining.
Few more things planned for the dump and the charity shop.. Yay!

It's supposed to be better and better (until Sunday)! Go you!

Several things went to the dump so am well pleased with that... bearing in mind that there's still a 1001 to go!

I've been adding "exercise" to my MFP log which can include all sorts of things that are done as a normal routine of the day..

How many calories are burned exercise

Surprising how many calories are burnt up by doing things like washing dishes or preparing food.

Had a sandwich for dinner as I'm done in after my busy day but chicken and brown sauce goes down really well anyway... followed by peaches and cream.

Great link! Thanks.
You might have 1001 to go - but you're making progress.

I just gave in and had some. They were tasty but had no cream to go with them.

If you like strawberries and have a Co op near you I have heard 2 x 400g punnets for £2 for the next 3 days.Must remember to buy some cream to go with them. Then of course I need to bake scones to have as well.:)
Oh, there is a coop not too far. I could pop in tomorrow on my way to pick up DD's friend.

Actually, I wouldn't mind if she put something in them, they were just empty tins!
She just couldn't bear to throw them away as "They are so pretty and may come in handy"
I think it's a war baby thing - mum was born in '34 so all her childhood was spent having to be frugal and save things "just in case".
I did find 4 tins full of buttons that she inherritted from my gran (who died in '73).
Gran was a seamstress so I can understand her need for buttons. But mum can't sew - so why did she need them?
Mind you - I have 2 boxes of buttons that I inheritted from my gran - and they have come in uselful over the years as I always used to make my own clothes.
I haven't made anything from scratch (except curtains) though in years and I just can't bear to throw them away either as they are a lovely reminder of her.

Afternoon Bev, I do agree about the war years thing and I was going to say that but as I'm always harping on about my age I thought I'd give it a miss!.. buttons and rags were a big thing with my mum too and she had a huge tin full of buttons that I loved looking thro'.. and the rags were also from her dressmaking years.
I remember with great fondness that as we were all going out the next day as a family which was a very rare event in our lives... she had sat up most of the night and made beautiful blue gingham matching dresses for me and my two sisters.. frilly bottom and round the yoke with puff sleeves.. I just wish I had a photo of us wearing them but they most probably got thrown away when we were evicted. :sigh:
I have a crochet blanket that my gran made which I keep in the cupboard and am loathe to thro away too.

Morning Emm!

I hope you have a lovely and sunny day.

Afternoon Mel, Looks quite good out there but I'm planning on more sorting etc. so no outings for today.
My neighbour has just said she will cut my grass for me as the "Mow & Grow" scheme by the council is apparently under review! Pity they don't let us know first so we know where we are!

Morning Emm,

I'm not a hoarder just a collector of kitchen things.:D

I intend not to clutter this house up with things I do not need/use.So far so good.

When we had carpet fitted we had to take everything out of the room.OH has just got round to putting his things away. When he was doing it last night I told him not to keep anything thats of no use as someone in the future will have to sort it all out.Now instead of 2 drawers of 'things' he has half a drawer. He binned it all last night.:D

He had petrol and Costa receipts from last year. Why?

Afternoon Mary, Good for you not being a hoarder.. I do actually quite envy people who have the ability to get rid instead of store but as has been shown on a few TV progs apart from being a sort of inherited thing (i.e. war hype) it's an illness... (that sounds rather OTT but I'm sure you get my drift..)
As regards the receipts and the like I keep them now as part of the ability to prove where I am for security reasons if my identity should be stolen which was something advised on a police prog. some while back.

Look what I found after I dug a rotten stump up this morning.:)
The last one I disturbed dried out.:(

For a minute I was looking at the green shoot but I can see the frog or is it a toad?
Amazing how these critters can survive isn't it?

I did have a frog in my back garden at one time which I was very pleased about as they so help with keeping the aphids etc down especially as I was growing some veg at the time. Then I noticed there were some baby frogs but unfortunately I stood on one and squashed it and all the frogs disappeared!
I guess they objected to my killing off their littl'un!.. :D

Friday 30th May 2014

Strangely I felt perfectly fine yesterday after that procedure and I was expecting to have some sort of after affects but seems like it's caught up with me today and am somewhat under par! Thankfully very much better now having had a good lay in... and back is quite good as well.. Hallelujah!

Window cleaner called this morning and I didn't hear his ladder being put up against the window sill and there I was in the nuddy laying back watching TV!! .. Good job I had my throw on the side of the chair which I was able to grab post-haste!

I decided to set myself 3 jobs for each day.. today I am going to 1/ adjust my going out trousers so they don't come up under my chin.. 2/ Sort a pile of clothes that are now so huge .. the pile that is.. that it's collapsed onto the floor and I have to keep walking around it! .. and 3/ Collect a few more items for the charity shop which are already standing about waiting to be put into a suitable bag.
Off I must go....
