Why is it that when I'm around and regularly checking the board, no one is posting, but when I have a busy day with no time to check in the board has gone mad! There's loads of posts that I haven't read - I feel completely out of touch
Had a day of cooking and baking yesterday as well as braving the supermarket. The traffic was so bad and I had the genius idea of getting DH to drop me and DD off before the worst traffic started and told him to pick me up in the same spot. Walking there was fine, but I went a bit mad with the shopping and then had to lug 2 large heavy bags back up a hill while listening to DD complain about having to carry a bottle of Ribena! We still ought to go back for more drinks but I might just have to rely on the little shop in the village for that...
Today is cleaning day and I don't want to make a start! It has to be done and I doubt it will take more than a couple of hours, but I know I will end up procrastinating for a while and then do 10 minutes here and there and it will drag on for the whole day. I wish I enjoyed cleaning. I know some people love seing their house all neat and tidy making the effort worth it, but I like my house like it is. It's clean (ish) but full of things. I hate having to find a home for things that are perfectly fine in a basket on top of the piano etc. Oh well it has to be done, I guess...
Food wise I'm all set for Xmas now. Yesterday I got the turkey and the fruit and veg box. I made the pigs in blankets, cooked the ham, red cabbage, stock for gravy, stuffing and Christmas cake. Now I just need to prep the veg and get the pudding ready and I'm done.
"Eating wise" I haven't been too bad - a bit of chocolate in the evening, but I was so busy cooking yesterday I forgot about lunch altogether. Still I'm sure licking the cake bowl and tasting the cabbage and ham could count as lunch.
I'm trying to decide what to do for pudding. I was going to do a pavlova as it's easy and can be done in advance, but DH thinks it's too summery (trust me to have a DH with an opinion on everyting
) and he suggested sticky toffee pudding instead. Surely that's too heavy after a big meal? However, considering that DH doesn't like Christmas cake or mince pies I might just go for the sticky toffee pud. I can always have ice cream with the children instead...
Sorry about all the talk about food but it's all I think about at the moment! Still have lots of wrapping to do and....despite all the typing I still haven't managed to forget...the cleaning:jelous:
