Please please don't be disappointed in yourself love. It's the thing I hate most about diets, we set up a system to tell ourselves we're weak and bad and stupid just for doing something very human like taking comfort in food.
You're not being bad, you're being normal. Look at it this way - the average Brit gains 7lbs over the Xmas season. That's the average person, fat or thin to begin with. The people with a metabolic advantage who happen to be thin to begin with may have an easier time losing it but most of them have to put in an effort too. Every year the magazines are full of bikini diets because normal people go through periods - for whatever reason - where they eat more or differently to normal and they want to lose the weight afterwards. It doesn't make them bad or weak or stupid and it doesn't make someone who was heavier to begin with any of those things either. There will always always (perhaps unless you're posh spice) be times when life is more important than diet, whether that's for happy, celebratey reasons or tough and sad ones.
If you go by that 80/20 thing most people say is healthy - well, I reckon this summer has been some of your 20 percent. Really really knuckle down from Tuesday and make the rest of the year your on-plan 80 percent and you'll be doing just fine.
You're a strong lady, Di. You're more than a match for this diet, you just need to try not to pick fights with yourself, too. Be nice to yourself! And part of being nice to yourself is, having given yourself a break, not to feel guilty for that but to start from Tuesday giving yourself the food etc that you know will make you most healthy and happy.
