do you count your drinks as well? never tried anything like it either but did see it in the paper. guy o know did slim fast lost loads. he has kept it off too which is a rarity as he is the first i know who stuck to it and kept it off
you are happy on ww though are you not? where are you off to for dinner? just being nosey as i want to eat the world ha
keep us posted x

Yeh you count drinks too but its not bad as I've mostly drank water, if I have green tea then don't need milk in it and most diet drinks have almost no calories too (generally about 1cal per 250ml or similar).

That is really rare I have never heard of anyone keeping the weigh off on slimfast to be honest but good on him!

And Donna yeh I am not entirely sold on all the claims as well all sorts of crazy diets make all sorts of wild claims, what I do like with this one is noones really making money from it lol ;-) obviously there's books that sell but I mean there's not any branded products or weekly meetings or anything like that. But fasting is something that exists in a lot of religions and also is of course how people would have eaten back in the day - when there's food you eat when there's not you don't. It's meant to make you live longer, less prone to a lot of diseases (not very technical with the science here but basically even in short fasts your body cells go into repair mode). Some people do permanently very low calorie diet everyday, others fast for maybe a week at a time but they are far more drastic. JUDD tend to do alternate day fasting so every second day is low calorie, but they seem to find that even just doing it 2 days a week will give all the same health and weigh loss benefits.

Not really expecting much from it to be honest just thought it would suit this week as I want to try the new kitkat chunkys and off out to all you can eat world buffet tomorrow! ;-)

Anyway sorry know its a bit off topic as this is sw forum but was just wondering if anyone knew anyone on it as it seems to be very popular at the moment. I saw the horizon program on Bbc about it a while back but never really have it another thought until I read the book yesterday inspired by some friends on minimins trying it. X

Will be very interested to see if you lose! Do you have to do the 2 days together?

Sent from my GT-I9100 using MiniMins

Will be interesting to see how you get on, good luck :)

GAH having one of those days :( just posted a whole post and then the stupid internet browser skipped to a completely different thread (one I don't even post in)

plus what I was originally posting about was how my kitchen scales have broken, was weighing out my porridge and they kept jumping, saying it weighed more when stuff was taken away :( I've ordered some more, just hope these ones don't wreak my plan too much before they get here. It's partly my own stupid fault as well, my brother gave me some for my Birthday which didn't work and I never got round to swapping them. At least the ones I've ordered take AAA batteries instead of one of those little round ones, as they're easier to get hold of... (although thinking about it maybe my other ones just need new batteries in.... will try that later.... they're mini ones anyway so will be good to have a bigger pair when they get here)

sorry sort of thinking to myself here as I type as well lol

Oh that reminds me I need new scales too thanks for reminder lol!

No Kim you don't need to do the 2 days together, I defo won't be and if you prefer you can even do the 24hour period at any time eg from 2pm to 2pm the next day which seems like total cheating but apparently that works too.

I was surprised that I got to have porridge for breakfast, lots of veg and a wrap for dinner and then a yoghurt and mango later as I was still under calories after that. If you have a meal with loads of veg then you can actually get a surprising amount of food for the 500cals.

As I said it seems a bit too good to be true that you can really eat anything on the up days, will defo be putting it to the test at world buffet later ;-) will stop rabbling on about it here but will let you know what the scales say on Friday! X

No ramble away Laura, Im really quite interested. But I was thinking about it in bed last night, surely if you weigh yourself after the 1/2 days of low cals you would have a lower weight than if you weighed after 5 days of eating what you want.....if that makes sense!

Donna, did you see my post about ravioli?

Lets hope you have a better day today.

No work for me today as have to wait in for the dishwasher man. Ours died, so had to buy a new one, so quite excited to get a new one. Was quite a novelty washing dishes by hand, but that novelty has worn off now & want my new dishwasher lol!

yes better so far thanks. Its a good start. 2 boiled eggs for breakfat and a ww yoghurt. Hormones and being off is my hardest challenge. Will be better prepared for it as i found that 2 days out the 4 i wasnt having breakfast til later thinking i could then keep healthy extras for later on but my hunger was catching up on me. So just to clarify i cant make veg soup with lentils and have it on a red day? does anyone have recipe for carrot and corriander without lentils? will go and have wee look - i add lentils to my veg soup and carrot and corriander

Happy New Dishwasher Day kim - i dont have that luxury :cry:lol

You could have lentils in your soup but you would have to use them as HexB or syn them......28g raw = 4 syns. So if you made a big batch with 28g that would only be 1 syns per portion, or just omit them & do a big pot of veggie soup with leeks, onions, celery, carrots & coriander & then you could have that soup on all days. I tend to make that sort of soup & add in a tin of tomatoes.....scrummy :)

Don't worry about rambling, I think we're all interested in seeing how you get on.

To be honest, I can see how it works if you have some sort of control on your 5 days having whatever you want, but personally I'd just binge binge binge for 5 days :( I really need more structure then doing something like that.

I bought some lentils the other day as they were 44p, I thought I'd give them a go. What else does everyone do with them?

I put lentils in and just use them as my hexb. I find they help 'flush the system' lol

Everyone in my department at work is going on bout the 5:2 diet. If it works and I get within a month of my hen do and im not at target I might try it lol.

Had an exciting weekend this weekend doing grown up stuff.....moved house, ordered wedding rings and ordered flower girl dress. All very exciting :)

I'm a bit nervous about trying them for some reason, won't be able to use them for a while as meals are all planned out for most of this week anyway.

wow all very exciting for you this weekend :) you have loads going on (the height of excitement for me at the moment is managing to get 3 loads of washing in and dried within the space of 2 days lol)

there is a two page spread in the sun newspaper about the diet Laura was speaking about...away to read

its official - i am a pig!! had my lunch of 2xslices bread with the usual ham cheese and pickle. Was bit stuffed but thought that IF i didnt eat my mugshot i would quite possibly be hungry come the time i arrive home after 5pm and would stop me getting the shakes - greedy munter - now i can hardly move!! least it wasnt chocolate or syns i suppose. Quite like the hot n spicy mugshot though admitedly when i make it up the powdery stuff doesnt look very appealing
Mince with mushy peas tonight - cant wait!!

Yay, go Ronnie.......take it easy tho :)

I am normally pretty greedy with food and often have 2 bowls of dinner as I almost always make extra for lunches as when you are only cooking for 2 of you it's just as easy to make extra rather than waste any veg etc I just chuck it all in.

Haha glad you don't mind my ramblings. When I first heard about it I thought there's no way I could do that but having a breakfast and then waiting til dinner really wasn't that hard - as long as you keep hydrated and have lots of veg in your meals then the 500 calories goes pretty far. Plus anything you crave you know you can have the next day guilt free which is nice.

Today will be my only really extravagant food day as out to the world buffet. I also had a couple little extras that I would sometimes grudge using points on like a little carton of chocolate soya milk and a nakd bar (yummy flavoured bar made from dried fruits sounds yuck tastes amazing) the other up days I will probably eat just like I normally would - so 3 sensible meals plus snacks.

Although you would think that the days after fast days you would go crazy apparently you don't. The studies suggest that you only eat about 110% of normal calorie intake on up days and then on the 2 down days you are on 25% (500cals) so it all evens out to a loss if that makes sense? X
