Knitting For Beginners - Instructions

Actually I say its awful but I managed to cast on, this is my first time trying, I would have been surprised if I'd manage loads of stiches, I'll keep you updated on how I get on, going to give it another go now... think it will take me a while to get the hang of the stitches, might find it easier if I took it to work and got someone to show me properly... but I'd quite like to teach myself as silly as that sounds, also don't want to be a hassle for people.
 
I've never heard of the 5:2 plan either. Must research it. Although after joining slimming world I don't think I could ever go hungry again lol
 
right I've cast on 20 stitches, I'm leaving that for tonight as I'm tired so might go to bed and will try to actually add some stitches tomorrow... fingers crossed I can make a square and then I can go on to try and make a scarf or a blanket once I know I can actually stitch lol.

Donna I want to make a christmas jumper. I have been saying for past 5 years I want a knitted Christmas jumper. Maybe I should teach myself to knit and make one myself!
 
My mums getting all excited saying I can make her a Christmas jumper haha, don't know if I'll manage it this year but would be great if I was that good by next year.
 
I love knitting we all got taught when we were kids :) its really easy once you get the hang of it. I've taught my girls so if they can do it you can
I'll put photo on later of the cardy's my mum knitted the girls for Xmas :)
Any advice just ask
I would say start off with your stitches loose so you can see how they form just do knit stitch first for a few rows then try purl

My Nana taught me how to knit & I've forgotten how much I like to do it. Funny enough I have a scarf I was knitting from a few years ago that I should dig out as the wool was expensive, so well reminded Donna. Im sure you'll soon get the hang of it!

I want to get back to it now, but have to do my crosstrainer and possibly my running training, its freezing here again and we've had snow, only a dusting but I don't like driving out to club like this, if I do my training this morning I can just come home from slimming world and have tea then have all evening for knitting.... hmmmm.... mum won't be happy if I don't go to club but I hate running when the conditions are icy and it makes me nervous about the car as well.

glad i didnt use my syns last night and bought pineapple on way to work to help me out.
feel quite slim today too and glad i took soup out as its freezin
 
Not sure how today's WI will go, I feel really good but that's partly because I just did 10 minutes running up and down the stairs, 10 minutes steady run, 10 minutes running up and down alternating between taking it easy, my normal running pace and running as fast as I can, followed by a 30 minute run and my 100 crunches, I made some syn free egg custard to have after and scoffed the lot (was only planning on having a bit but ahhhh well, the protein will be good for me lol) hope I can keep this up, I can't decide whether to go to club on Thursday or just do an hours run on my own, if I go to club it will be about half an hour :/ I want to start pushing myself to do more, otherwise I'll never step up my training, but I am planning on going on my mums treadmill for at least an hour at the weekend to see how far I can run, so maybe a shorter run on Thursday would be good? Think I'll ask my mum to see what she thinks.
There's a half marathon on March 11th, I don't think I'll be ready for it, but depending on how far I run at the weekend I might aim to try and do it (won't sign up for it but start training and sign up closer to the time if I think I'm ready)


Anyway, hopefully WI will be good news, but to be honest how I'm feeling right now I'm happy :) I just know if I gained and I'm out of target obviously I won't be happy as it means payment next week if I'm not back in, but in myself I'm very happy at the moment.

I have some pineapple as well Deb, think I might chop it up and put in some Tupperware later if I can be bothered, I normally just chop it as and when I want it, but if its ready chopped I'll be more likely to go for it for snacks.

busy busy Donna - good for you. I am sat at my desk most of the day and really need to get started on excercise. Your doing great!!
I always cut my pinapple up and keep it in tub in fridge, bring to work to munch on. Just resisted some unnecessary syns - go me!
had my soup which was quite watery - and sandwiches for lunch. Not as full up as i hoped i would be but curry tongiht using mayflower curry sauce - 4 syns per 100g and really nice too
 
Noooo :( just getting on really well with my knitting and everything on the left needle feel off :( I tried putting it back but the stitches didn't look right so no idea where I went wrong. So annoying that I have to start all over again :( hope this bit of wool my nanna gave me to practice on is plenty big enough, looks like I need the practice.
 
How many scan bread can I have for hexb?
