Beelishy's VLCD Weight Loss Adventure!!

Mornin' everyone!!

Ugh. Its awful out again. And its sweet porridge day. I really regret ordering those. lol Theyre nice but not worth giving up my dinner meal for. I definitely wont order them next time. And i may do a quick stock check and see if I have enough shakes to not use them for now. I think I should as Ive been doing lots of egg days (so, 3 packs).

We are supposed to be going to Nandos for Mothers day lunch tomorrow but if the forecast is correct, its going to be freeeeezing with snow/sleet/freezing rain showers. Hmm. Not really worth it as we dont have a car. lol

Right, off to get Zoe a bottle and check how many shakes I have left. Have a great day everyone and, in case I dont "see" you, Happy Mother's Day! Even if you arent one, you have one ;) xx

Morning!

I need to do that - I didn't order enough shakes, so think I'm going to have to order before I need to!

Awww, hope you manage to get out! It'd be a shame not to on your special day! Let's hope the forecast is wrong, as it often is!! :)

Have a great day lovely, and I'll ditto that! Enjoy your whole weekend!

I still have about 39 shakes. I dunno how I have so many! Its probably because Ive had a couple of days where I havent had ANY shakes as I had porridge for breakfast, then eggs for lunch, a meal pack and veg for dinner and a bar in the evening. And quite a few days where Ive had just 1 shake for breakfast and eggs for lunch and veg for dinner and bar in the evening. lol. I think I need to have more shakes. I need to really get this weight shifting! LOLOL

Do you have soups too, or aren't you bothered about those?
I don't have enough shakes - I ordered 30 - no where near enough!!
Am an idiot, lol!!! ;)

Ok. Im having a guilty moment. I feel awful! Tabby (my 3 year old daughter) made me a gorgeous card and gift (out of clay!) at nursery. But she also made a little box out od card and decorated it and they gave the kids 3 choccies (out of a box, like dairy milk for example) to put in each of their boxes to give to their moms/mams/mums. So she brought all of her gifts for me home from school yesterday and I just feel so awful. Not because i ate the chocolate. I didnt. And I kinda dont want to. Like. I really really dont want to. but I dont want her to think that i didnt LOVE the gift because i totally do love it. But she's 3 and I cant go anywhere NEAR explaining any of this to her. I dont know (cant seem to find) how many carbs and cals are in just ONE of them, but I can imagine its a lot. Im thinking Im going to have to give her one and give one to hubby and pretend to eat mine and then give it to hubs when she's not looking. I feel like such a jerk. Im sure ONE chocolate wouldnt make much difference, really. But Im that paranoid that Im too scared to chance it. So instead I feel like a crap mom. lol. Blah. Anyway. Just rambling so I can look back at this and laugh at myself. :sigh: lol

Awww lovey :(

Yes, that's a very good idea - she'll have no idea you haven't eaten it. And she'll be pleased you've given her one!
But, if you have one, I doubt very much it would affect your diet at all. One chocolate isn't going to do much damage, if any at all, if you feel like it of course :)

We have to live as well, and can't be a slave to this diet! I can't tell you what to do, but I am positive one little choccie won't hurt you! I had a couple of choc buttons of Max's, didn't feel guilty, and they've made no difference to my weight loss.

Here are the nutritional facts, per one choc -

Single Chocolate (Milk Tray)
Serving Size: 1 chocolate, Calories: 48.5, Fat: 1.9g, Carbs: 5g, Protein: 0.3g

And DON'T feel guilty! You're a fabulous mum! Just do what you think is best - even if you pretend to have one, your little girl will never know, so please don't feel guilty!

Hope that helps :)

Aww thanks honey! Youre a star. i know Im just being silly! I think I will share them out. One for Tabby, one for hubby and I will share with Zoe. lol I feel so much better now.

Ive also calculated and Ive got 59 days before i start my week of re-feed before my trip. Thats going to fly over! lol

Sharing the chocolate out is a good idea, a 3 yr old will be HAPPY to have some chocolate! I think my grandparents used to do that, share their portions away, I didn't think much of it when I was little. :)

Hi Minerva, welcome!!

Yes, she will be thrilled to have some, as will choc-o-holic hubby. I need to be rational and know that 1 bite sized piece of chocolate isnt going to make a blind bit of difference! lol

xx

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend! xxx

One chocolate won't make any difference for weight-loss, but personally I find it's better to forget what things taste like, that way I don't crave them when they're around. I hadn't had bread since I started pretty much and yesterday when the OH offered me some on our night-off from diet, I wasn't tempted much. And it's my one weakness as well! :p

Oh well, we'll get through this, as long as our heads are in the right place, it'll all be ok! x

I have a special love for bread - probably why I'm so tubby, lol. My grandparents would always find massive holes in newly bought loaves when I was little!! :D

I do miss and crave fruit actually. I was sooo tempted to buy an apple the other day. Argh!

Hubby was laughing at me the because I was drooling as I was chopping up a cantaloupe for Tabby last night. It smelled gorgeous. LOL He hates fruit and veg (mostly all of it) so totally doesnt get it. I guess kinda like how I dont get how he can eat steak and kidney pies. *yarf* lol!!

Rofl, I've never heard of the sound *yarf* before :p I suppose it's like *barf*? And you're right, steak and kidney pie sounds vile! xD

I had to look up what a Cantaloupe is - right, it's like the zucchini to our courgette. Except this one's a yellow flesh sweet melon. Lol. I went to an American/International School here in London, but I can't say I've come across many such words. :)
I've never liked those much, but I have a special soft spot for watermelons, looooooooooove them. Would try to eat one as a child whenever we were lucky enough to get one in Russia!! Ohhhh... so goooood :D

Hehe! Yes. I adore all melons. Most fruit really but summer fruits like melons and plums are my fave.

So, at what age did you come over here?

My great-grandparents were Russian and they had 5 kids. They lived between the US and Russia and had 5 kids. The first was born in the USA, the next in Russia and so it went, USA, Russia.... etc etc. Very strange. My grandma was born in Connecticut, USA. LOL. There were rumours that they were somehow related to the Romanovs but I dont know how and I highly doubt it was true.

I moved here when I was 10. :) That's nearly 17 years ago now! I'm half Latvian/half Russian, I do actually have some distant family living in the US, they migrated at around WWII.

Strange how your family is all over the place! Lol. I suppose it's interesting as part of your heritage. The Romanovs... Well, it's possible to have some distant relation, since their dynasty has been around since 1613, however, the more close relatives of poor old Czar Nikolay II are all accounted for it seems. :)

Om-nom! don't remind me of fruit, I would readily devour a whole bowl! :D

Aww, youre my little sister's age. But far more mature and grown up than she is. LMAO.

Yes, I think it was a load of rubbish, really. There was no doubt that my ancestors had money, but how they came upon it I will probably never know. LOL. Lord knows I havent inherited anything! Other than the pre-disposition towards being larger , aka fat (my great-grandmother was a gorgeously round little thing with smiley eyes) and "Russian dancing feet" (how hilarious is that?) as my old ballet teacher said when I was 6. Then i got bored of it, quit and got fat! HAHA! x

Im pretty much as American as they come. But with a broader understanding and respect for the REST OF THE WORLD which a lot of my fellow Americans lack, sadly. Although living here for 9 years and being married to a Geordie and having half-Geordie daughters makes me just a teeeeny tiny bit English, myself. Surely? LOL :p

Lol Aw thank you  I've always been a lot more quiet than the other kids, very shy. Probably due to experiencing loss of a parent at a very young age. But, maybe not. Who knows?

Back in the old days, before the Revolution, more Russians were well off than it seems. Bolsheviks etc. My babushka used to say her family came from a council of 'town elders' - not sure which town. But she would tell me stories that when the Revolution came, her grandma/relatives had to sow jewels and money into their dresses to hide them. I have one such piece of jewellery - not something that an ordinary person would have. I think other bits got sold years later, I haven't seen any more.

As for genetics - it's VERY common for the Russian / East European lady to be thin in earlier years and then around 30 start putting it on a bit. By the time they reach 40's they're overweight/pbese and so on! While in Russia we'd be hard pressed to find someone morbidly obese (BMI 50+), but genetics dictate that the widening of the waistline WILL happen as he years go by! Your granny sounds lovely, I can imagine her face. Smiley eyes. :) It makes me happy. But you know? In Russia to be fat in older years wasn't perceived as a stigma, just an expectation. Not healthy, but, just the way life goes.

Well your broad view of life and intelligence already puts you ahead of quite a large portion of Americans it seems! At least the 'stereotype'. My number 1 dream is to visit America, it's always been portrayed as such an amazing place on TV, it's sunk in that way! ...at least after the iron curtain fell ;) I vaguely remember the influx of all the cartoons, toys and food... Was rather spectacular.

After 9 years you can say you've got English in you. Nationality is all down to how you feel. :) I'm of 3 nationalities, I believe it's down to acceptance of the culture and it becoming a part of you!
