Big Boys Need Love Too!

By accident really abz. I did a degree in computer science and only intended to join the army for 3 years. I joined the para's because my dad thought I was a wimp. (Think '60's, long hair and hippie :) )

I was just nearing the end of my service when I found out that the Army RAOC were the biggest users of IT (ADP as it was called then) so I transferred. Best of both worlds for me, I loved the army and I loved working with computers, mainframes as they were then. I'll post some pictures of one I worked that was the size of a small house.

hee. loving the hairstyles there jim :D

yes i've seen a mainframe pic before, but never known one personally :D

well i am aching rather a lot this morning. 40 lengths down last night. 30 of breaststroke which was the hard part for me. neck and shoulders hurt like hell today along with ass, ha. back is not a happy chappie today but i just keep thinking it must be doing me good in the long run.

of course i weigh in heavier today by a couple of lbs. just hoping it's my muscles being sore and holding water... hopefully. doubt it. but i can but dream...

off to have first coffee of the day :)

ok :) i'm sure my trousers are getting tighter on the thighs though. i've never had chunky thigh muscles :S think it could be the breast stroke? it does work your outer thighs.

i don't want to beef up. i want to tone... saying that, the thought of me actually managing to get beefed up has just made me laugh :D

Whichever muscles you are working, they will get a little bigger but you should be losing fat off that area too. Try front crawl instead as you burn more calories whilst toning every muscle in your body

Good Morning!

Abz yes, you will weigh more after exercise, weird but true.

How are you both this morning? It's very cold and frosty here.

i usually swim crawl taz, but find that after breaststroke i actually feel like my muscles have been working. and also breaststroke helps my back more as you utilise muscles at the base of your spine in a different way.

crawl i have always found a bit too easy to be honest. although i have to admit doing my last 10 lengths as crawl nearly did me in last night, ha.

it's quite a nice day here jim. i could hear the birds singing when i woke up at 6 this morning. which is a rarity in itself in any case since birds are a rarity around me. there are no bloody trees and a lot of cats!! so i'm feeling rather chipper today :)

We have loads of birds abz, I suspect it's because we are so close to Sutton Park and have large trees in the garden.

Crawl seems easier as it's faster and you get the lengths done quicker but you are also using more energy to do it. Of course with your back trouble you have to do what you can physically manage.

Morning Jim, it is mild here, no frost but I haven't actually been outside yet!

Hi Taz, I was surprised because it was mild and raining last night.

We have bright sunshine Taz, really bright and crispy, it's lovely.

me too love. I'm out to the pub tonight 'cos it's Friday . Yay!! :D

but i find crawl easier taz. which is why i'm doing breaststroke. I have always swum, swam, aargh tense help front crawl. so breaststroke is more of a workout for me. i sweat a bit more doing crawl but it's very short lived. and i stop for rests more. whereas i would prefer to swim continuously for longer for my back at the moment. breaststroke is much more difficult for my back than crawl is.

Hellllloooo :)

I've been told by Miss Abz to say Hello, so here I am :)

I think you're doing well on the swimming front Abi, you are doing it reguarly and it's bound to be helping your back as well as your weight, no matter which stroke you do... so well done! Am glad you enjoy it too :)

ha!! she shows her smiling face!! i would like to introduce the lovely bridesmaid bon :)

and yes. i love swimming. but i feel so lethargic today. am desperately trying to remain awake!!
