Blimp to Bombshell: RawrGirl's Weight Loss Diary

People who design skater pants are clearly men who live another man and have never seen a real woman or they married a tissue eating stick insect. Piffle to them. Design your own range.
Really those measurements have no place in the real world.

Thank you. RawrGirl needed to hear that!

Argh, how frustrating! Good ol' Mother Nature has impeccable timing. My TOM arrived so that I had no true reflection of how much weight I lost on my refeed week.

Yea, isn't that ridiculously frustrating! Right when it's do darn important that we know whether what we did different led us to gain or maintain, TOM shows up. Life is so unfair sometimes.
:sigh:

Hope you had a lovely weekend! X

Ramblings

RawrGirl has been slacking off. She hasn't really been lifting weights at all. Bad RawrGirl! Though she did ice skate 3 times last week. As for this week, she did weights tonight, but missed yesterday. Food has been 100%, but food has always been the easier part for RawrGirl. She was actually about 100 calories less than her max over the weekend, around 1400, 1400, 1100. Though she will admit that was mostly falling asleep before making her planned late-night snack and having her fourth drink, lol.

The slacking off has been due to RawrGirl being insanely preoccupied with a new writing project which either grant her the respect of her mother and sister that she has longed years for or get her disowned as a heretic. Either response will be worked into her memoir, probably as the climax. RawrGirl has a complicated life, lol.

RawrGirl's dress came in today. She tried it on and while she doesn't look horrid in it, she doesn't look that great either. So she tried it with Bridget Jones style granny panties and her corset, but the outline of the boning on the corset was quite obvious as its very clingy fabric, and the granny panties created huge bulges at the top of her thigh. So...RawrGirl will have to buy one of those whole body slimming underthings. Hopefully she can find one that is strapless, though she's not sure how that will work, lol. Oh, and she needs to get it hemmed because she's not 6 feet tall!

Oh, and last RawrGirl checked (which was yesterday), her waist is till up half an inch. Grrrr.

Quite an expert on all manner of restrictive underwear - some of which has cost me more than the price of any over garments I have ever owned.... but recently bought a lycra thing like a short leg scuba suit (it has thin straps so that it goes over arms so no rolling down) but you wear your regular bra with it - came from Penneys and was really cheap. Works a treat.

I agree, plenty of options out there when it comes to Spanx-type underwear. In fact I think I probably own every option available! I will still wear them when I'm super-skinny (!) because its not just about holding everything in, I think it's about having a seamless silhouette too. I have one that is like tight cycling shorts but with a high waist, so it goes from just above the knee to right under my boobs. So you could just wear a normal strapless bra with it?

Don't beat yourself up over skipping your weights- we all fall in and out of exercise regimes. I know I do anyway!

Hope your complicated life becomes a little less complicated after your latest project! X

Flukey Measurements

RawrGirl can't make heads or tails of this.

Before Road Trip:

Waist: 29 1/2
Navel: 36
Hips: 39 1/2

After Road Trip

Waist: 30 ( up 1/2 inch)
Navel: 36 (sts)
Hips: 39 3/4 (up 1/4)

Current Measurements:

Waist: 29 3/4 (down 1/4, still up 1/4)
Navel: 35 (LOST AN INCH???)
Hips: 39 1/2 (back to pre-Road Trip)

RawrGirl is not unhappy with the lost inch at her navel. She is chuffed. But why isn't her waist back down to 29 1/2? Did she just dream it was ever there? The body is a very strange thing.

That is so strange! I could use stand if it was thighs or something difficult to measure but it's hard to measure your waist wrong?! And if it was your navel measurement that was up I'd blame TOTM.

BED

Well, RawrGirl's waist seemed to be back down to the week before the road trip. She'd forgotten to measure right before the road trip, so assumes that in one more week she will be wherever that was. Thus, it will have taken her 3 weeks of VLCD to lose whatever she gained in 5 days. Not looking good as far as a 10-day holiday over Christmas.

On a somewhat good (helpful) note, RawrGirl found a book that makes an exception to the typical diagnosis of BED (Binge Eating Disorder). In the past, a person only had this if they binged on excessive calories (10,000+) in a 2 hour time period, which RawrGirl has never done. But this book says that the diagnosis is being or has been expanded to include those who binge all weekend long and then promptly purge by going on a diet Monday morning...and live their life this way. That would be RawrGirl for about the last 10 years (except since Atkins, when her binges became much less frequent due to not eating many carbs even on the weekend. But anytime she goes out of Ketosis, like the road trip on when on holiday, BED kicks in.)

So why RawrGirl says this is good/helpful is because the whole second half of the book deals with how to overcome this. And not only this, but it's been one of the first books she's found that addresses the mental aspects of feeling worthless, not good enough, and less than that drive the compulsive desire to constantly diet. So...RawrGirl ordered the book and it should arrive sometime next week or so. Meanwhile, she went to the library and took out some other books on BED to read in the mean time...as she REALLY wants to get over this so she doesn't have to spend from New Years to Valentines Day on a VLCD trying to get pack to her pre-Christmas weight/goal.

Only 3 1/2 weeks till the scale

RawrGirl had a scathing, brilliant idea about the holidays. There is this vegetable dish that is sooooo yummy. She ate it a lot while on Atkins (when calories don't matter). But, when she started watching calories she had to give it up. So anyway, she is thinking about making it for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner so she can gobble that up and avoid (or at least have much less of) the typical holiday foods like sweet potatoes (loaded with brown sugar and butter). She is also thinking of making her low-carb chocolate chip cookies that have about half 1/3 of the sugar/carbs due to using a low carb flour and artificial sweetener (the only sugar comes from the chocolate). She found them quite satisfactory last Christmas.

Anyway, the veggie recipe is delicious:

Zucchini
Yellow Squash
1/2 cup mayonnaise (full fat, the light stuff does not taste right here at all)
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
1 egg
garlic cloves
butter

Slice Zucchini and squash and grill in butter and garlic
Mix egg, mayo, and Parm
Drain liquid from grilled veggies and place in baking dish
Cover with mayo mixture and stir gently
Bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees

It may sound odd, but let RawrGirl assure you that it is the most delicious thing in the world. Very low carb, but very high in calories. She plans on making a small dish (for herself) and larger one to share. Then just slap some turkey and very small amounts of other stuff on her plate.

As for desserts, she is going to center herself, then imagine that she eats these desserts everyday of the week with no consequences (no weight gain) and that she is rather tired of them. Then she will choose only what she REALLY wants and eat only that (and will try not to binge on that).

Her family makes large dessert spreads on the holidays...chocolate chip cookies, chocolate oatmeal cookies, sugar cookies, gingerbread cookies, brownies, pumpkin pie, apple pie, and cheesecake. Once dinner is over, the desserts are put out and left there for people to graze all evening long while watching movies, chatting, etc. And this doesn't count the chocolate candy dishes all over the house. And while RawrGirl is considering making her low carb chocolate chip cookies for herself, she fears that they will give her a license to binge on them, which is not the point (they are still very high in calories/fat). Part of her wonders if she is less likely to binge if she doesn't bring them. Thus, she has not decided what to do.

Her family has not seen her since the first weekend of September, right around when she started her VLCD, so it will be almost 3 months. RawrGirl has no idea how much weight she's lost, but she is hoping that they will notice a difference. She knows that her size 10 jeans were too tight and unwearable, and that by Thanksgiving she should be in her 8's (which was her October/Halloween challenge but didn't happen due to road trip). So hopefully that will be impressive enough.

On November 21, she will ask Prince Charming for the scale (unless she chickens out...she knows she will be quite disappointed if she is not under 10 stone/140 lbs. Even 139.9 would be fine, lol).

Only 3 and 1/1 weeks. :innocent0001:

Oh my goodness I am drooling at the thought if all those lovely foods. That vegetable dish sounds amazing. I loved lo-carb for dishes like that, guilt free despite all the fat and calories!

And all those cookies and desserts? Yum! It's going to be such a tough challenge for you but I know you'll do great. Just make a plan and stick to it as much as possible!

Sorry, hit send too early.

Oh I can't wait to hear your family's reaction to your transformation! There is no way they CAN'T notice. And I am even more excited for your weigh in. I think you've done brilliantly and I think seeing that magic number will give you such a boost. X

Hey Rawrgirl, that veggi dish does sound really nice! Do you know how many people that quantity serves, and also calories per portion?

And yes, your family should definitely notice! Make sure you wear something drop dead gorgeous and flaunt it :p x

You doing ok my lovely?!

Lol, yes, RawrGirl hasn't decided on what to wear yet. She is hoping to order something from Venus but not sure if it will come in on time as she won't have the money till the 15th. If not, hopefully, she can find something around here. She is so not use to shopping as she only ever buys clothes from Goodwill (thrift store).

RawrGirl hopes they notice. Her weight has fluctuated so much over the years, and without a scale to even know if she is lighter than they ever seen me, she is not sure how obvious it is. *shrug*

But will def keep you posted! :)

You doing ok my lovely?!

RawrGirl is doing well. She has finally started lifting weights again...after really slacking off for about 2.5 weeks. So that is good. Tomorrow is measurements...so she is crossing her fingers to see a loss as a loss will mean less than the last time she measured before the road trip. She would love to have caught up to you and be sporting a 29 inch waist. :D

21 Day Countdown till the scale!

Did RawrGirl Reach Her October/Halloween Goal?

Ok, so RawrGirl's Halloween/October goal was to fit into her size 8 jeans. Here are two pics of RawrGirl in her size 8 jeans. In the first, she is sucking in. In the other, she is not. (Please excuse the post-pregnancy tummy.) The reason she asks if it counts as meeting her goal, is because even though they technically fit, she would not yet wear them, as she would want to lose some in the outer upper thigh/hip area. But they do snap and don't really cause much muffin top. So what do you all think? Can RawrGirl count this as meeting her Halloween goal?

Sucking In.jpg Not sucking in.jpg

RawrGirl's Measurements:

Waist: 12.25
Navel: 34.5--35
Hip: 39.25
Thigh: 23.25--23.5
Arm: 12.25

So, comparing to lowest measurements taken pre-road trip weight gain, RawrGirl has lost:

1/4 inch in waist
1/4 inch in hips
1/4 inch in thigh
1/4 inch in arms

So RawrGirl lost all over this week! :D

Looking good in those pictures, you can definitely tell you've lost weight since the last time you posted some. Your stomach is looking much flatter and more toned.

As for the goal, I personally wouldn't count it if I didn't feel I could actually wear them yet, but that's just me and it depends what you had in mind when you set the goal! :) x

You're looking great! I agree with Tweekedgirl, you can see your progress since the last pictures.

Hard to say about the goal! Because they fit, yes you have succeeded, but I know what you mean about not being ready to wear them out yet. I didn't mark my jeans target as reached until I was ready to leave the house in them, but that's because I had a huge muffin top in them despite being able to close them! It's up to you to decide I suppose but neither choice is wrong or cheating!
