Breastfeeding and Slimming World

Well done being at prepreg weight already!!! Well jel....lol

Dan seemed to have a fav side at first tho i was doing the rugby position n think its more to do with how comfy u are n whether ur left or right handed! I was told at hosp cos of my big breasts n where my nipples were positioned i wouldnt be able to do cross cradle position but i went to a latching professional who showed me the best way n gave me a few tips. Only needed to go once. I would defo reccomend seeing one even if its just for reassurance. Have u had his tongue done yet?

Still waiting for a hv to get back to me about his noisyness lol

Off out for 2nd time tonight without my baby ......got 11 oz expressed so should just be enough for 2 hrs away! Have got a couple of cartons of predone milk as emergency only!!!!! Dunno if he will even take it anyway fingers crossed not!!! Really dont want him to have anything but the best!!!
 
Hey jojo how did going out go?

No not got his Tongue done was waiting to see how this week goes n today he is so much better :) tho one side is more sensitive to the other. He feeds every 3 hours 45 min at time roughly he mostly breaks it up into 15 min slots with 5 min break lol tho tonight he only went an hour for 8pm feed but noticed cuz I Been writing his pattern that he squeezes in feeds before his big sleep as if to feed his tummy lots cuz throuvh the night he goes 4 hours.

Aw, Jojo remember first time away from Charles it was sucha strange feeling!!! So exhausted still need time to catch up on sleep from other night when Charles was bad as a result of his injections. Done baby massage for 2nd wk and I find it really helps chill him out when I do it before he goes to bed, so well recommended to join or if not buy developmental baby massage by peter walker if you just want to follow it at home. Bear in mind though they have to be 10wks old to do it first. Just borught some swimming reuseable pants for Charles, can't wait till they come in the post and we can go and have some splish splash fun :) x
 
Infant massage us awsome I'm a qualified infant massage teacher with touch learn and going to do it privately this yr. I teach from 6 weeks it's only so that it covers teachers back as post natal checks are done by then. But massage is good for mommy n baby :)

Hi...... Wish id not bothered going out last night, my 2 mates have kids that are 16/17 so not really interested so felt i couldnt gush about my beautiful son n how proud i am of him n me for breastfeeding! Came home very upset about it! Time i found me some new friends so plan to do some mum n baby stuff. Defo doing baby massage but next session not till 31st theres a baby development group starting on mon so going to that. Cant wait to take him swimming club but have to wait till hes 3 mth old.
Dans been weighed now 9lb 13.5 oz. He wasnt noisy last night n hv said it could have been wind, still think movicol affected him lol

Never thought to write down feed times, mind u hes still all over the place also depends what we're doing in the daytime!

Bunny have fun with splashing about, have u bought swim shorts or just using the huggies swim nappy? Not sure id trust them to keep the floaters in!!
Leeanne if you're doing it private could be a nice little earner for you!
 
Well ive ditched the moses basket!!! Ive never really liked it cos i couldnt see him when im in bed n hes slept better and longer in the cot! Poor Dan got a cold, i tried the steam but not sure it made a difference! Gonna get some snuffle baby n nasel spray see if it helps. If anyone has any tips id be very grateful x
 
The saline nasal spray is really good if his nose is so blocked it's bothering him. Also we stayed in the bathroom with Bella on her changing unit with the shower running hot and the door closed, for a good half hour. Ended up doing this about 2am one morning! That really helped and she enjoyed it.

I did reluctantly give her one dose of calpol but that was right in the middle of her cold the afternoon after her 12 week jabs and she really wouldn't settle. It helped make her feel much better.

Tj has a blocked nose.. Last night he was so bad had hardly any sleep! He been but blocked since birth n sounds like he is grunting. But is there n e thing he can have at only 9 days old? X

Sitting in a steamy bathroom with him for half hour is your best bet Leanne - you're not giving him anything then, although I have a feeling some of the saline solutions are from birth so you may be able to use those
 
Midwife said bout goin go for saline drops but I am a weird mommy n don't like use meds unless I need to!!

Did anyone else have trouble with milk? I seem to still get engorged and am
Tryin hard not to pump to releive them so I don't over stimulate but espeiciallu at night they are solid. Also if after a feed I notice lumps or bumps do I need to

Thanks sarah.....we did try the steam last night but he was a very grumpy boy! Ive bought a saline spray so will use it if he gets snuffly again as hes been ok today......colds are always bad at night! Leeanne saline spray is just salty water so no meds so safe tho im not looking forward to spraying it up his nose eekkkk!

As for hard lumpy boobs.....normal i think since mine have been same! Especially early morning as this is when u get most milk. It should feel different once hes fed! Apparently this goes in a couple mth,mine dont seem as hard now.
Im all excited now cot in our room, really hoping he will sleep for longer now he can spread out! X
 
leeanne i believe the calpol saline nasal spray is from birth and we found it very fast working and great when Penny was squealing so bad she would wake up because she couldn't breathe! RE the bfing- sorry if this has already been answered but not read through it all, thats great you can express so much, highly recommend buying avent storage cups, about 9.50 for 20 odd, they hold 6oz a time and are great for storing / freezing breastmilk for as and when you may need a break etc. the hard lumps and bumps are normal and will go as your body adjusts and your milk supply is stable. If you want to avoid pumping then just massage towards the nipple either in the shower or just after a feed with a bowl underneath (i would leak loads) as that will help release it and wont over stimulate your boobies. Your milk supply may be all over the place untill 6 weekish, so dont worry if your spraying all over the place one day and feel all pankcakey the next! but its safe to say you'll be feeling 'full' for a while yet :p .. dont lie on your front in bed, without breastpads in, unless you fancy a midnight swim hahaha.

Glad everyones babies are doing well.. laptop back now, thank good lord but off centreparcs Monday so wont be a regular again for atleast a week. Missing you all :) x
 
Leanne, make sure each breast is fully emptied by baby before switching boobs. Expressing will make the engorgement worse, soon your breasts will find a nice level and will stabilise a bit more. For the lumps gentle massage the hard areas while baby is feeding, massaging down towards the nipple, be gentle, it will fix this.
The engorged evening feed won't last too long, only while baby is young. By 4 months your boobs will be like well oiled machines getting the balance right.

Just popping in to say hi. My little miss is still breastfeeding to go to sleep at night, through the night (yawn lol) and before her daytime nap. I'm down to normal HEA's and HEB's though. If she doesn't wean by 2 years then I'll wean her but she's still only 15 months.

In the last 10 years with 4 babies I have spent 5.5years of those ten years breastfeeding. I will miss these days.
 
Hey Fern miss u too have fun at centreparks!!

I love cake.....i hope i will be breastfeeding that long, i love it but just wish he would sleep longer in the night, hubs keeps 'suggesting 'formula grrrrr lol. I know someone whos son is same age n shes got him on baby rice!!! Wtf???

Anyone have problems with huggies nappies........cant believe how many times they've leaked. Not had any problems with asda n morrisons own!

Ooh we're just trying huggies nappies as they were dead cheap at the tesco baby event - worked out 7p a nappy. We're only on nappy no.2 and her 1st one didn't leak so I'm keeping hopeful. Been on pampers til now and they've been fab, but more expensive.

Got some fab bits at the asda baby event - a 'my first tooth set' with toothbrush and paste and a passport where you record when each tooth comes through, only £3odd. Also got a cow&gate weaning set, for £10, got some jars which will be useful when we're out as I'll cook all the purees. But it's in a nice cool bag with a splat mat, pots, bib, spoons and a recipe and weaning guide.
I think I'm going to follow anabel karmel's weaning guide meal planner though, when Bella's ready. Just need to be able to notice the signs she's ready from next month. Have a feeling she'll be closer to 6 months when she starts though.

Fern have fun in centerparks. We would have loved to go but it's quite expensive. We've booked one of the sun £9.50 holidays for the end of April - going to pontins brean sands
 
He really hurts of a night to feed n he tends to faf with me he feed then cones off then wants bk on over n over making me sore. I was cryin last night it was like he would not settle with me. I got so upset I got emergency formula out n that didn't work either, I'm still expressing at a feed so my boobs think he has fed. I'm just sore today and one side seems settled a d the side he isn't keen on and with mega sore nipples still hasn't settled. I'm tired and grumpy n just feel unhappy. Not sure what to do cuz i pushed myself to breastfeed as I really wanted to do it but I think cuz of bein tired my boobs Hurt more n nipples more sensitive :(

Sarah.... Yeah i stocked up on nappies and ive a load of coupons for pampers too lol tesco and morrisons have baby events on.

Leeanne..... Perhaps you could express n feed him though bottle for today to give urs nips a rest. When is Tristan having his tongue tie sorting? Defo see a latching specialist as well see if she can suggest anything as well. Could poss be start of growth spurt no 1 Dan had his at 10 days old it felt like he wasnt satisfied n getting frustrated n kept sucking really hard as well. I had a few crying sessions and got stressed out with it too! Hope ur ok big hugs x
 
I got the weaning back form cow and gate through the post as you automatically get it when you are a member of the baby group. To save money on napies I have active fit I think - allows baby more room to wriggle during the day as charles moves a hell of a lot. Then at night got the dry pampers as they allow baby to wear up to 12 hours which are great and really good IMHO :)

Don't forget you can get offers on Amazon as well which now find the cheapest place for Pampers. Jojo Huggies are know to havea bad rep for leaking so a better alternative that has come are Pampers or Tesco's own version!!!
