Starting to have a major wibble over a bbq I've been invited to. Not food wise, coz I am all for a flexi day ;) But I'm rather nervous and just a bit terrified, lol. It's at my voluntary boss'/vets house on Sunday and it's for all his staff (some I've never met coz they do diff days), his vet friends, RSPCA, and some other animal places he has worked with. Luckily my best mate will be there as he works for Bug World and my vet is their vet, but still
Anyway, I have just been over to the shops and have bought some supplies. I'm gonna make Humming Bird Bakery cupcakes to take with me :D VERY un-SW friendly and quite possibly diabetic coma's in a cake, but still ;) I'm making their vanilla cupcakes, some with vanilla icing and sprinkles and some with chocolate icing and white choc chips. I feel I should point out that the icing is indeed butter cream

Extra Easy

Lunch: 2 Weetabix (HexB), banana, honey (1), and ss milk (all milk as HexA)
Cherries, strawberries, grapes, maple syrup (1), and Activia fat free.

Snack: Bag of mini pretzels (2)

Snack: A Mars bar (12)

Drinks: Coffee. Squash. Sprite Zero. 7 Up Free. Diet Coke. Lots of fizzy today!!

Your lunch today sounds delicious!

What do you do at the vets? Nursing?

It was lovely :D And very filling, lol. I'm a volunteer auxiliary nurse at the vets. Would really, really like to train as a vet nurse-just need to find someone who will give me a training position. All my qualifications and years of experience should help, it's just getting in somewhere-you know? But now I've finally decided that it is what I want to do, I'm really gonna go for it :)

Oh dear. It is impossible to bake and not taste stuff!! I haven't tried any of the actual cakes, but I have had quite a bit of icing....well, I had to make sure it was alright :p Think I will donate 10 syns to baking and hope that covers it-I know that's quite a lot, but I probably had the equivalent of two spoonfulls. Would rather go over the top with syns than not count enough. I'm having the afternoon/bbq off tomorrow so I can relax and not be 'the girl on a diet', but I know I wont go overboard because I find it quite difficult to eat in front of new people or if I'm nervous. Will be having a couple of drinks tho to calm my nerves!!
I'm probably not gonna get weighed next week anyway with having the afternoon off and my stupid period has arrived. We shall see..

Green Day

Lunch: 2 slices of wholemeal little bread (HexB1), 2 Quorn sausages, 2 boiled eggs, 1/2tbsp of mustard (0.5), and 2tbsp of tomato sauce (2)

Icing tasting (10)

Tea:

Snack:

Drinks: Coffee (milk as HexA1) Sprite Zero. Squash.

Grats on your 3lb loss this week btw! :D

I hope you're enjoying your afternoon off and it's not too nerve wracking!

Being a vet nurse sounds v interesting, but i think i would end up bringing all the homeless animals home. Your doggy is lovely!

PS your cupcakes are making my mouth water!! :gimi::drool:

Thank you Zombiecakes :D To be honest, I've worked with animals and been around them for so long that you do manage to become detached from them. Every now and then one does slip through your guard tho ;) Most of my animals are 'rescues'. Ellie is actually a Dogs Trust dog :D

I did manage to have a good time at the bbq. I was nervous as hell, which I'm now paying for with a headache, but I did have fun. My mate had to leave at 5:30 and a few of the people I'd been sitting with were talking about going soon, so I decided to go with Mike. But when I was saying goodbye to a few other people they seemed disappointed I was going so soon and that they hadn't had a chance to talk to me much. I really should have stayed, but I was worried about leaving alone and paying for a taxi. Ah well, at least I went, managed to eat a little, and had fun.
Syn wise I don't think I did too bad really. Wont syn anything, but will write it out.

EE Day

Breakfast: 2 slices of wholemeal little bread, 3 turkey rashers, 2 boiled eggs, and 2 tbsp of tomato sauce.

BBQ: Fish, veg, & halloumi kebab. New potato salad. Cucumber and tomato's, & feta. Coleslaw. Strawberries and clotted cream ice cream. And one of my cakes. All tiny amounts btw as I have a big problem with eating in front of people I don't know or if I'm nervous.
Also had a glass of Diet Coke and 2 Coors Lights.

Tea: Quorn bolognese thing like last night and spaghetti.

Snack: 2 Snack biscuits and the last chocolate cupcake!

Drinks: Coffee.

Exercise this week: 880 over 5 days.

Week 26

Had my heart check-up today-I had open heart surgery when I was 18months old to repair a big hole in the bit that separates the lower chambers, and a smaller one in the bit that separates the top ones.
The registrar I saw was actually really nice and gentle (makes a bloody change!), but very shocked about me having not been called in for 5 years. Naughty hospital!! It was mostly good news anyway and I had a very long, very thorough echo done, as well as an ECG and general obs..
The main hole that was repaired has a small leak, but it always has had, so it's fine. And they couldn't even find the smaller hole that was repaired, which is excellent. But they did point out something new (well, new to me, but not new in a medical sense) to me, it's a pulmonary stenosis-which is a thickening of the muscle just below the valve on the artery that goes to my lungs. Apparently I'm quite lucky that it isn't the valve itself, which is more common, but also more likely to deteriorate. This may never change for me, but if it does I will need a vasoplasty (ballooon on catheter to stretch the artery) or surgery. But hopefully that will either never happen or it's a long way off. So my appointments are going back to a yearly basis and they're gonna keep a better eye on me :)
Oh and the BEST thing. Not one person in there mentioned my weight  Healthy eating and exercise were mentioned, but only in a "these things will help keep your heart healthy"-good oral hygiene was their main point as a lot of research has been done into this.
So yeah, no Dr's or nurses calling me fat today :p By my next appointment tho I should have well reached target and be super fit!
I spoke to a specialist cardiac nurse after seeing the Dr and Consultant and she gave me some info, leaflets, and we had a good chat about my blood/blood vessel problem. And, yay, even though it's quite a specific thing to me it is apparently quite common among older kids and young adults who have congenital heart defects!! So she said the CBT I'm doing is definitely the first step, but it might not 'cure' me. So if it doesn't work I'm to pester anyone who will listen to be referred to a clinical psychiatrist who deals with this sort of very specific problem. She did say I could call her any time for info or advice, but if no one in Liverpool will refer me I should speak to her and she will get me on the waiting list for Manchester's heart clinic.
So yeah, went well actually. Having a bit of a wibble over the 'new' thing, but I'll be fine once I've got over the small shock of it.

Anyway, food:

Green Day

Breakfast: A banana after the hospital

Lunch: 2 slices of wholemeal bread (HexB1) and a little kids tin of tortellini which was vile (2)

Sounds like poor baby you went through a lot!

I'm sure the 'new' thing will work out alright. You're in the best hands and they will monitor you regularly, so it can't suddenly get worse or sneak up on you :) still big /hugs though!!

So pleased that they didn't call you "fat" too :D :D Just imagine how you will wow them next time!

Really hope they get that referral through for you too :D <3 <3 /fingers crossed

It was very nice not to get the "you're over weight" talk!! I think I'm getting pretty close to being 'just' overweight, so maybe that was why. Either way it will all be gone next year anyway :D My appointment is a couple of weeks before my friends wedding, who I'm bridesmaid for, so I should be at tip-top condition by then :p
I'm all calmed down over the new thing now. I mean, if I look at it this way-it's always been there, it hasn't gotten any worse in 27 years, and it might never get worse. It may do and I may eventually need a small procedure or op, but hopefully by then my phobia crap will be sorted and I wont be anywhere near as scared as I would be if it happened now! *breathe*
Had a nice day today. Morning at the vets, met Mum in the afternoon and we had a picnic lunch, went to the Walker Art Gallery and Liverpool World Museum. Met up with my friend and "younger brother type person" (who I'll be bridesmaid for!) who've just moved back to Leeds and we did lots of talking and went to Brew :D
Christ knows how many syns were in my tea-it was a Savannah Steamer. Sweet tea, lemon, and honey. Saw him put a tbsp of honey in so will add on an extra couple of syns just in case and hope for the best, lol! Everything is freshly made and stuff, so as far as I know there are no hidden syns like there are in Starbucks and the like.
