Cheekychinchilla's food and stuff

Well done on the fast day!! That is so cool :D you are def inspiring me to get some proper ones in!
Thanks so much for linking hat article- exactly what I needed! I think I'll make a big soup batch and work out the cal info, then have eggs and stuff (less yolks) and make a cauliflower mash... Also salad/lettuce is a great way of bulking a meal for low cal I think!
Despite two glasses if wine, yest I had quite a low cal day anyway :O today I am fammished and tomorrow friends are over so am having a naughty day, but Friday I think I will do a fast day :D if I am not hungover!!
Seriously well done! And thanks for getting me excited again :D
5.5lbs off is amazing!! That's like 3 months+ of hardcore SW work for you usually?! Maybe 5:2 will be great for you as it is hard to have many carbs witg restricted calories... I honestly cant lose with carbs anymore!

Hey dude!

Aww thank you  It wasn't too difficult you know. But yeah, odd that I dunno if it would be easier to do a complete fast rather than bits of food. I read a few comments on various sites and it seems a lot of people have a very small, light breakfast and then a proper evening meal. Guess it's finding what works for you.
I was SO hungry by this lunch time lol. I was sensible and had a small breakfast before work, even though I felt sick, but the hunger crept in and claimed me lol! Treated myself to an extra sausage ;)

Is cauliflower mash just that? Smushed up cauli? Salad would probably be way better than heavy veg, but I had non. Those microwave veg bags seem ok, the ones I have are around 75cals, so not too bad. I decided on 3 portions of broccoli & cauliflower instead ;)
It's been interesting actually looking at the calories on things, because I just don't! Unless it's non-free food. But I thought maybe I could have a tin of mushy peas with my steak, coz they're quite filling. Noooooooooo! lol. Omg, over 100cals for half of one of those little tins  Must be the sugar in peas? I dunno. But yeah, it's been rather interesting! I bet stuff like WW jelly would be quite good too. Didn't think of that yday! They're super low calories aren't they?

5.5lbs off for me if you stick to my average loss would have taken me 11months?! I average 0.5lbs a month.... Obv sometimes I lose a lb or two a week but other times I don't or gain. So yeah, that's quite a miraculous loss tbf!! I'm very pleased. Almost excited about getting on the scales next week! Won't be till Wed though coz I have two days off next week for my birthday. Which I will be eating whatever the frick I wont on ;)

I'm still adamant that I wouldn't cope cutting carbs so much. But you're right, on fast days you just can't have them! You could probably get away with a Mugshot or something, but yeah, no pasta mountains for me ;) Also means I wont be saving masses and masses of syns every week - obv not going to count syns from a fast day :) Still might have a day or like a meal/evening off occasionally too when stuff comes up. Will just wing it for now.

I drank soooooo much yesterday! Also treated myself to a posh mint tea. Pukka stuff was on offer in Morrison's so I got the 3 mint one and it's gorgeous! I took a mug to bed with me last night and it's so nice and refreshing :) I need to get some rooibos from somewhere, there weren't any nice ones on offer in Morrison's. Sainsbury's is quite good for 'posh' tea.
Tea really helps! Well, any warm liquid really helps with hunger - as I discovered last week ;) That'd probably be my top tip for fasting. Plenty of fluids, esp something warm. Stops you're stomach sounding like an angry dinosaur ;)

Work was ok this morning. Back on reception! It was "Preventive day" today, which means we mostly only see vaccinations and spay/castrate checks. And all the ops were spays or castrates. We have to do these every so often otherwise the waiting list is months and months! We do them routinely anyway, but they're getting more and more popular. Which is awesome! Means the charity is making more money - you have to pay for preventive stuff - and it means the pets are getting happier and healthier :)
I did the front desk for the first 2 hours and then the phones for 40mins after my break. When I was on the phone virtually every call was about neutering or vaccinations. When I did get a regular appointment call I was kinda like "Oh, you pet is actually sick, ok then..." Lol!
Feeling a bit more comfortable at the front now and with the computer system again. I just know that once this training session is done the only time I'll do reception is during Out of hours or if they're short staffed. So I'll have forgotten it all by then

I'm subbing, mainly as I'm considering mixing 5:2 with SW and you've inspired me :)

Oooh super green tea sounds good! I drink quite a bit of the non super stuff and you are right about it curbing hunger- sometimes when I am starving I sip a green tea while cooking and after it often I'm not even that hungry after!

Mashed cauliflower is epically better with some smash in, not much even just maybe 2tbspn of dry stuff but not sure the cal of that or if worth it... But it really makes the textre better and less runny. And a stock cube for flavour! I actually had stock cube broth as a cuppa soup recently and it was quite nice! And low cal... So salty though, probs not great for weight loss.

Sugar free jelly is a great idea too! Think when you make one sachet into 5 portions or however many it is supposed to be (thr hartleys one) it is just 20cal a portion! Meringues are good for a.sweet fix too, 50cal for a nest.

It is weird looking at calories for superfree- 70cal for a banana!! I might have a look on the 5:2/JUDDD forum on here for other low cal ideas too.

***8 cal per portion of harleys sugarfree jelly! 32cal for the whole pint of it :O
There are some cool threads in JUDDD forum on here with under 100 cal snack ideas amd stuff. Might give cauliflower rice a go where you whizz cauli then fry it!

Hello Llamasoks! I love the name :) I wouldn't feel too inspired just yet lol.

I was dead good at the cinema! So many temptations in the shops before and obv the usual amount of naughties actually at the cinema. But I stuck to my Malteser Bunny :innocent0002: Mum had loads of sweets and I didn't have anything but my bunny and coffee! Like a miracle that ;)

I really like the idea of the Matcha, but it's quite pricey! Might hold out for a special offer and then try it. Teapigs do have some good offers throughout the year.
Peppermint tea is quite good for a fast day because it has that hint of sweetness, but also helps with any nausea :) Rooibos is quite good for nausea too. Which is why I wanted it last week in hospital. Evil Dr not letting me *grumble grumble*

I looked at Smash yesterday and put it back in the cupboard lol! To be fair though, for only 2 meals a week I could go with just protein and some sort of veg or salad. Very happy to have soup and crackers for lunches :D I do love soup!

I think the WW jelly is 12cals either per portion or for the sachet - you get two servings in them. When I'm counting them for SW I usually split it in to 3 portions. I do find jelly quite filling tho! WW is the only low cal one I've found that's veggie friendly.

After doing a fast day yesterday I don't think I would *waste* 50cals on a meringue nest  I know I had a hot chocolate tho :p Everyone has different ideas of what stuff is worth syns or calories though!

It is very, very odd looking at calories of stuff I take for granted as free!

Tomorrow's fast day is probably going to be soup and crackers again for lunch. And I'm thinking Quorn fillets (very low calorie!) with stir fry veg and a bit of soy sauce :)

I'll have to check out the other forum for ideas. Will have a good research over the weekend and stuff and plan a bit better. After tomorrow I wont be doing another fast day till Wed probably, after my birthday stuff. xx

Urgh I feel rough today! This cough has turned in to a cold. I feel like my face is going to explode and I'm all snotty and congested. My throat and cough is pretty bad too *woe*
Had a confusing chat with my manager. She wanted a catch up before I finished for the week. She asked how I was and how I thought I'd coped this week. Thought I'd done pretty well to be honest! She said she's spoken to the women from head office and they want me up to full speed and doing my job properly by the middle of Feb. I, erm, thought I was doing my job properly  I asked if anything had been said or if I'd done something wrong and she said not at all. Confusing! I said the only thing I'd had to do was say I couldn't heavy lift things. And again she said that could be a problem as there are several pregnant people who can't heavy lift and one of the vets has a problem with a disc in her back. Well, I mean, fair enough. But why should it be ok for them to not heavy lift but it is for me?! She said like worse case scenario of a weekend say I'm working with a pregnant nurse, the vet with the bad back, and a large dog emergency came in.
It's just really throwing me that they seem to not just want me to do my job (understandable) but to also be miraculously fixed and not need any consideration. I'm very confused by all this!
She mentioned occupational health and stuff like that and maybe getting my job title or duties changed. But didn't say how that would effect my job or anything. I just don't know what to think about it.
I've been getting on with everything the best I can, and as far as I know, I've done a decent job. I know she has to talk to me about this stuff but it's very erratic and a bit bipolar! One minute everything's ok, but then on the other side of it they want me at 100% asap and to be able to do everything!!

Anyway, I'm not back in till Wed next week so not going to think about it too much. Will talk to Mum later coz she's been through all this with her work many times.

Another fast day today! Felt like I needed a bit of energy this morning so had coffee and a stick of pineapple. The only caffeine of the day hopefully :) I wanted to do a mid week way in but there were too many staff around the scales lol. Also, as Tetris pointed out, I feel like crap and I should just leave it till next week.
I'll do a WI on Wednesday, but will be a late one - sometime between 5-8pm. xx

Work stuff sounds sucky :/ if you were in a wheel chair or pregnant they would give you the pass on no heavy lifting... Just because hey cant see it, doesnt mean it isnt necessary! What if you fainted while trying to restrain a big dog?!
*sigh*! I'm angry with you!

Just remembered the whole 'feed a cold, starve a fever' saying- get lots of extra nutrition in tomorrow to make up for the fast, dont want to slow down recovery!
I have some WW jelly sachets in the cupboard I hadnt tried yet from when I joined SW haha! I made some hartleys jelly inspired by this convo and it really does help curb a sweet craving :D
X

I just don't know how to feel about work. I really don't! Maybe when I get an actual diagnosis they'll start taking it seriously because it'll be 'real' and they can put a label on it.
But do they not think that all these tests I'm putting myself through suggest that it's real and important?! It does feel like because no one knows what's wrong with me that I'm maybe making it up or putting it on. I mean, ffs, out of all the things I have to do for my job is being able to do heavy lifting really such a serious thing?! If I can do absolutely everything else required of me?! :(
Maybe when I DO get a diagnosis and they sort out occupational health and stuff it will be better. Make it more official?! Hopefully once the results from last week are looked at and the MRI later this week it'll be the last steps towards an ME/CFS diagnosis. Not that it will exactly do me any good to get that diagnosis, but could help work / disability wise!

Oh don't worry. I will be feeding this cold with curry tomorrow night! Got my heart set on doing a BIG pan of curry. A nice big batch cook! Going to Asda to pick up some bits so will get lots of nice veg to put in it. Thinking butternut squash and sweet potato as the main bits :D
As if I ever starve myself ;)

I think I'll make up some WW jelly for later! Nice, low cal, and something sweet :)

I had a mishap with my lunch. My hands were all wobbly again and I was trying to get Ellie to go away. She can't hear very well so I have lots of hand gestures for her. Pointing to make her go away threw me off balance and I spilled half my soup. Like a big spaz   It really was at least half the can as well. Bloody dog!
More calories for later I guess. But I was so looking forward to that soup

Watching a new anime film - Wolf Children. It's really sweet! xx

Sorry to hear you're poorly, I hope it goes quickly x
That is really confusing of work saying you need to be up to speed but when asked if anything had been said they say no  I think speaking to occupational therapy would actually help you, they could sort out exactly your roles and what you're capable of and work would have to abide by it. For example if they said you weren't to do heavy lifting then work couldn't ask you to do it or expect it. Next time your boss decides to have a "chat" I would ask her outright about why they didn't think you were up to speed and what they were expecting.

I hope your 2 nd fast day is going well x x

It's doing my head in Barbette. I'm not like properly dying of cold sick. But I'm quite congested and my cough is lingering. My sore throat comes and goes too. But it's been doing that for a good few months now
I forgot to take my nasal inhaler the other night and I kept waking up through the night with the horrible burning sensation in my face I used to get a lot. Realised what I'd done and took it in the morning. Hadn't really realised it was having such a decent effect

I'm glad the work thing isn't just confusing me. And I feel pretty damn annoyed that it would be fine for someone pregnant or with a diagnosed condition/injury/illness to avoid heavy lifting, but I can't? Wtf?! Everyone's been really good and if I didn't think I could help lift a dog and said that they were fine. I understand the emergency situation scenario, I do. But why should I be the one to be made to feel guilty or like I'd have no choice. You know?
She did say that they've not received the medical report from my Dr's yet. I know because I asked for a copy too. But that's been months! Like September I think! It seems that everyone involved is incredibly reluctant to do anything until I have a solid diagnosis. FFS even an ME diagnosis wouldn't be solid
And again she brought up light duties, change of job role, etc... But then I have to be 100% by Feb. What?!
It seems we'll be having these "catch-up's" on a weekly basis now...

Fast day hasn't gone too badly, except losing half of my lunch to the floor  I did well with my tea and got a really decent portion size. My jelly hasn't set at all though and is a bit inedible. Was so looking forward to that! Going to finish the day with a hot chocolate and Alpen again :)

I'd better get a bloody loss next week. Even with being off plan for my birthday ;)

Just having my last mug of peppermint tea and gonna head to bed to read. Watched tonight's and last night's Bake Off back to back. On a fast day it was fairly torturous! Good though :D

Very, very much looking forward to a lie in tomorrow. YAY!!! Oh and food ;) Will be having veggie breakfast for lunch and making a big curry for my tea. Lotsa superfree/free in the curry as well. Very much looking forward to it!
Nighty night all.xx

Well done on the fast day!
Make sure you WI BEFORE bday so you can see the real effects of the fasts!!
I'm tempted to do one today but have woken up starving despite chinese last night- eh?! Haha... Maybe just a low cal day... Or maybe I'll have eggs for breakie with less yolks, usually keeps me going ages if I have eggs in the morning.
X

I wont be able to WI before my birthday mate. No scales at home! If I go to Michelle's at any point I'll sneak on their scales lol. But it's likely to be Wednesday when I'm back in work. Hopefully plenty of other chance to WI post fast days :)

Mmmm Chinese food! I've got some leftover stirfry veg to go with my curry. It goes so well :D Esp beansprouts!

Maybe try some fast days next week? I bet even one a week would have a decent effect!

Had a nice long lie in :) Read last night till I couldn't keep my eyes open! Had loads of bizarre dreams tho. Another kidnap one, wtf is that all about?! I've had so many of them recently. Got up before 12 as well, which is a bit of a miracle for me on a day off lol.

Mum's been sent home from work coz she's really not well. So she's scuppered my relaxing day :p

Mum's had a bad flare up of all her illnesses. Plus she has a cold and upper respiratory thing going on too  She's very very cold, colder than me!, which is odd. Have given her my hat I took to the Arctic and she's wrapped up in her owl Slanket :)

My pj day had to take a bit of a break. I walked round the chemist for Mum's stuff and was in there ages catching up with the staff - they know me very well lol! When I got back I sorted out the bunnies. Had Ralph and Anya running round the garage together and then tried them in his run again. Think it's going to take a little time for these two to get on in his space! They're fine together in neutral space, but putting them in his run is causing issues. Could do with a warm-ish, dry day so they could go in to the garden run for a while together. That would help. But, at least they're getting on most of the time :) Looks promising! It's pretty rare for a boy and girl to never get on!

Got back in my pj's after that lol. We're just going to catch up with a couple of tv shows we missed yesterday - Silent Witness and Wild Brazil :)

To be honest the fast days aren't so bad. And the more evening meals I discover the better. But I did really enjoy last nights! I think you could probably have a massive salad with peppers and stuff and it not cost you many calories! And plain Quorn (particularly the "chicken") is really low too. It has been interesting so far. Think I will give it a good trial of a month and see if it's helping losses at all. I find it very difficult to see how I could lose nothing doing SW and then 2 fast days a week, but my body is mental, so you never know lol! xx
