had dodgy dude dreams last night.

dreamed that i went shopping with my mum to debenhams and took dude in a white buggy. i had to leave him outside the shop for a split second to get my mum in and when i came back he'd gone, the buggy and everything. i searched the whole store. i was shouting his name and then i saw another child in his buggy and clothes but this child was black but his sister was white and his mum was black and aunt was white. i shouted to them and they ran off so i had to follow and i grabbed the kids and got a store woman to help. she took us into a room and they had something to do with taking dude. they emptied their pockets and there was a letter that had my mum's details on it, like they'd stolen that as well.

i can't tell you all just how upsetting that dream was. i was devastated at him being taken and in my dreams i thought that it was another maddy thing and i'd never see him ever again!

Oh nikki thats not nice is it? Poor thing.

When I am stressed and got lots of things going on in my brain, I get terrible, sometimes horrific nightmares.

It sounds to me like you are playing out your guilty feelings in the worse scenario possible. Dont use this as a sign that the whole teaching thing isnt going to work though, you need to give the teaching thing time. Its only been a couple of days and it's going to take the kids a while to settle into a new routine and you as well.

what a night. had to go to A&E with dude. he tripped and fell onto the wall or edge of door frame. split his lip open. we have to go to James Cook hospital tomorrow as he needs plastic surgery, going to be put under for it.

Nikki he'll be fine, the paediatric Anaesthetists are lovely!! And plastics are very good there too. Poor little dude, he's like Mr Bump.

Hi Nikki -- It'll get easier, I promise.

2nd day of school over. still bit dubious as to if i'm going to cope ok. dude was giving it what for this morning in the car to nursery and i was upset about it. :(

He will, but it'll get better and it'll be better for him in the long run. He needs to be out with other kids. Peer teaching is the most effective.

kids are challenging and pushing the boundaries! i'm shattered. sick of shouting 'give me your attention' 'shh' 'who's ready?/who's listening?/ who's watching?' ' you need to listen please' etc etc etc

Have you ever read the T.E.T. (Teacher Effectiveness Training)? This is a wonderful book on classroom management. They will "test" you. So, be consistent. Once they learn that same behaviour gets the same results -- and so understand their boundaries -- it will improve dramatically.

so far i've had an 810 day as i was so tired when i got home from school all i wanted to do was eat.

so today it was

cd shake
cd porridge
tuna salad
cd bar
milk
2 pints of water
7 coffees :(

Excellent food for an 810 day as Nat said.

(((((HUGS))))) for you and little Dude. Keep us posted tomorrow.

Thinking of you all.

Poor mite - thats no good for your guilt trips either.

Now, I am going to go into "old hat!" mode and say, it's normal for you both (dude and you) to get separation anxiety, but YOU are in control here, YOU have to show him, it's ok. Kid's take their knocks so much better than we think, experience tells me, that when anything has happened to my first daughter - I was the one usually in hysterics, and that makes it worse. Now I try and be calm, and tell my little-un what a brave princess she is!

Dont worry hun, everything WILL fall into place. It just has to. It's fate that you got this job, you so so so need it!

After surgery.

somehow there's now a hole on the inside of his mouth. i think 2 stitches have 'come out'! worried. we've phoned up and i think they're getting in touch with the surgeon to ask how many he put in, if he put any inside the lip. i'm sure he said inside and outside. thing is bl**dy hubby, inepty left him, to play in the bath. we were told.... keep clean and not to get wet for 3-5 days. argh! bl**dy men! i would have put him in the bath. washed him down then took him straight out. as you all know me, i don't need to say that i'm worried.com!

Hopefully you'll hear back from them soon and it'll be okay. The not getting wet is probably mostly an infection control thing, damp stitches can harbour infection. Are they dissolvable stitches or will they need removing?

what is it with my kids! what is there problem.

last year (well xmas 2010) it was emily with infected chicken pox. she kicked a nurse who was trying to give her medicine and had to have a drip. this year (2011/2012) is dude's face.

back to hospital today. more stitches? wonder if dude will let me have a lie in tomorrow then?

I doubt it! Still maybe all the adrenaline will tire him out!

Hope all goes well'

Back and everything's fine. The stitch inside is inside his inside and is extra strong so we can't see it. Just looked bad last night. Looks ok this am though. Healing is amazing already.
