Stabilization CONSOSTAB (shared diary)

Thanks for the suggestions, Anja. I love rollmops too - not easy to get here though.:(

However, thanks to the cottage cheese recipe and your resulting 'mozzarella' ball, I'll be having pizza on Thursdays from now on.:D White PP days are so disheartening though - annoying especially as some green veg is so low in carbs, I'm sure we could have some!

Hi there Anja - as you know, I'm struggling to tie my shoe laces at the moment so aside from the comedy factor, I'm unlikely to be able to bring any assistance EXCEPT that I do remember my personal "Stabilisation guru" when I was there repeating incessantly that 2K either way was FINE on Stab and that it was to be expected once full introduction of everything was in full swing.

You see no difference in the mirror? There is most likely no difference then, and you've probably picked up on the difference with a more active "transit" perhaps the day before weigh in last week. (I count on it myself and having a PV day on a Thursday is out of the question for me!!).

So hang in there... one swallow doesn't make a Spring as they say, and one slightly higher than you'd like weigh in doesn't mean a thing either.

:D

If you need a smile, go to Dimage's diary and see our chat re Mouse's chicks! Made me smile!

Thanks for your reassurance and I really must stop whining in this diary every time things don't go my way. I am really busy at the moment, work and home so it might go a bit silent for a while, especially as the longer posts are concerned...

I was just so disappointed on Friday, also had hoped to gain a bit of ground before the holiday period which is already creeping up on me now. As Friday is usually a post-PP weigh in there was no point in double checking in Sat (I didn't).
Yes, as far as the 'visual' goes I seem to be okay for now, no change in belts etc, that's where I can measurably see when things are wrong (i.e too much cabbage = bloating). I'm obviously putting on weight elsewhere now...;) I never measured myself so I can't start now as a backup checking measure.

This weekend my kids made me breakfast in bed, and 'baked' some chocolate crispie cakes especially for Mothers day so of course I had one (or two). Also a social function tomorrow PM which no doubt will involve hot cross buns served by the kids so hard to wriggle out of that one as well, but I'm skipping my bread portion in anticipation...

I'll just have to have on and off days as I did at Christmas and try to keep a bit of balance in the direction of moderation. It just seems to be getting harder all the time  at the moment.

And Laura - I have no idea if I can EVER maintain at this weight without really leaving Conso, after all I've not been this weight since I don't know when (age 16/18 maybe???) I know I *can* maintain at 70kg  ...
But then we have already worked out that Stab is really relaxed Conso for life ;)
I'll have a huge party if I get to September 2011 and am still in the region of 64kg, as I've only just made it to 6months now!

Please DON'T stop "whining in this diary" (as if). It shows the rest of us who can only aspire to your level of dedication and commitment to the stabilisation cause that it can be done BUT that it's not the walk in the park some might be hoping for.

Hang in there Anja... keep posts shorter if you're busy, but please please don't be a stranger. I for one love reading what you're up to
x

Jo's beaten me to it.

Absolutely agree - this place is where we can come and have a good worry, moan or rant because there are people here who understand and can genuinely sympathise or maybe even help. It's much better to get it out of your system by typing it down in the forum than bottling it up.

I also agree with Jo in that I really enjoy reading your posts.

We're here for the bad times as well as the good.

Thanks you're such LOVELY people!!!

(Back to editing some fun strategic plan...)

But I even want to add that I think it could even HELP seeing that even you have irrational troughs and peaks on the scales to deal with... because, as I say, for those weaker souls, the first hurdle could be a real downer.

Almost as if it can seem that it's "easier for others" and to see that they too struggle, and have to correct and pick themselves up, it's adding to the community spirit around here.

So rant away - you're doing us a service!

'Whine' away, Anja (I'd call it thinking alound:)). Trouble shared, etc, etc.

Maybe monthly WIs are the way forward? I probably gained a kilo here and there (then lost the following day/week) but because I saw no difference in clothes, wasn't weighing, etc, it didn't bother me because I didn't know about it. Fluctuations will happen (for everyone) so I personally will never be a fan of the scales and hopefully one day will be able to get rid altogether.

My own musings - we had a massive gala weekend with birthday celebrations on Friday and one meal which turned into the rest of the weekend spent with friends (nice bonus - we don't see them often - and another birthday to celebrate while we were there). I'm sure that, had I weighed myself afterwards, I'd have been sobbing into my tea as apart from the pizza (very thin base;)), I did none of the cooking (so carb-heavy compared to usual fodder). I'm having a couple of low-carb days - PV/fruit/cheese because I really feel sluggish and am sure it's because I've had 10 days worth of carbs in one weekend. Hopefully, can get away with PV on Thursday rather than PP by being better behaved Monday/Tuesday too!

Luckily the weather was good, so a few walks in amongst the eating antics!

This is SO true! During my darkest self-doubting dieting hours, I do actually comfort myself that "even Anja" occasionally worries in the same kind of way about the same kind of things.

If others reading our diairies just saw the bits where we're happy and managing just fine, then they'd surely feel inadequate when the occasional wobble occurs. This way, at least they know that it's not just them, and that others experience it, too.

Well here I am - I *did* WI today and I *have* STS... After the week I've had (and the strict week before) I can see that the 2kg either way is a realistic premise.
Anyway, I think I may try a monthly WI / a longer break now to get past Easter without too much trauma  I'll see how I feel

This week was more relaxed, there was mothers day with those lovely Crispie cakes with mini-eggs, and I had some other extras the rest of the week too. Tuesday's tea and cakes after DD1s school club involved another crispie cake (looks like they are now replacing hot cross buns as a standard Easter treat?). I had a real sausage on Weds :D with mash and broccoli.
I have gone back to having the odd bit of dried fruit, and I am sticking with the TB of milled Linseed a day, my digestion is really really improving now. Sorry TMI but it makes me feel a lot better!

As I mentioned elsewhere, I caught sight of myself in the mirror today and was amazed - I have definitely STS, no question. Of course depends on the clothes etc, but I liked what I saw so tried a self-portrait again, will upload tonight as camera battery ran out at just the wrong moment...

So now comes my long spell of Easter jollities with constant visitors (who are all very supportive of my achievement though). For the first week I have planned healthy Dukan-Friendly (Conso-style) food and 2 near-normal meals (lamb shoulder and dumplings respectively), I'll have small helpings of carbs throughout, PROBABLY.

Sat: Slow cooked Lamb shoulder with lentils
Sun: Whole baked salmon (in-laws are bringing the fish, yay!) and home made rich choc pud!
Mon: Baked chicken Masala
Tue: Slow-cooked Beef stew (with herby dumplings if I'm feeling brave/thin)
Wed: Moussaka (=a version of Cheeseburger Pie with potatoes on the side)
Thu: Turkey stir-fry (no veg etc for me)

And I can't recall past that point

There might be a take-away/meal out in there then I just adjust. And I want to bake a cake, it's better to do it when there are lots of people to help eat it! And there are some Cardamom cupcakes waiting in the freezer from my baking extravaganza so they'll find recipients too... Let's not mention Easter eggs :eek:

So I'll try to stick to a balanced approach without being overly restrictive and let's see how it goes! I find not declaring any meals as Galas helps too, there is less temptation to go overboard with dessert or extras 'because I can this meal' or 'because I can't the next day'. Whatever you might think Jo, I have 'floodgates' too, that need to be kept in check! This week it was Tuesday - the crispie cake led to a few other things later that evening ....cue distorted eating behaviour... which is why I need to work on the "balanced all week" approach.

Anyway here's my weekly update, if you're still reading thanks for listening - and thanks again for all your supportive comments, what would I do without you! In general I really don't think I deserve most of the praise you give (the "even Anja"... comment) - I'm just plodding along like everyone else, so okay, I'll keep moaning at you when it's HARD :D

BUT: I have passed the 6 month mark at 64kg! Yay :bliss:

6 months at 64K and she doesn't think she merits a "Maintainer" badge! <roll eyes>

I love reading your recaps... looking at your meal plan, though, I presume you've seen the advance weather forecast and seen that winter is setting in again? (Or am I the only one who wants crispy salads, stirfries (yep spotted that) and BBQs in the warmth of this premature summer?)

Keep moaning! Good to see you eating so well and STILL moaning ;) hee hee! Have a lovely weekend Anja, and watch out for that cold snap next week!

No - I meant you're the only true maintainer here. the badges are actually available to anyone, in the CP section....

Ha I get my salad fix big time at lunch time every day (today lots of lettuce, 2 tomatoes, 1/3 cucumber, bit of vinegar and a generous smoked mackerel fillet on top) - but of course, no, I had not checked the weather, which is indeed set to cool down after the weekend. No, my food planning is usually entirely based on convenience, special offers, and contents of my organic box and freezer (aka last month's special offers...).

Thanks! :D:D:D

Are they really? My illusions are shattered then! What is the point of that?!

Enjoy! :D

SORRY!! There's an announcement from Pierce at the top of the forum about it. But having them offered to you in person is definitely much better though!!

I probably dreamt it all :-(

Good to hear you sounding more like your old self, Anja. (Oh my goodness, how I LOVE your menus, too!!!!)

Perhaps monthly weighing might help with your anxiety re the fluctuations. I'd always intended sticking to weekly weigh-ins henceforth, but I'm beginning to think that Laura's way makes more sense - particularly as I, too, am prone to fluctuation anxiety.

And yes, you definitely DO deserve the praise you are given, young lady - so no arguing with your elders about that (like decrepit old me)! ;-)

Busy busy Thursday

Hi everyone,

after posting my long Conso-Stab musings elsewhere yesterday I think it might me time for an update here too.

I'm busy with visitors and kids at home, so don't get to look in here as often as I'd like.

Particularly busy day today - managed the weekly shopping before going to work this morning (thanks to currently resident grandparent kiddiesitters), then once I got to work barely got stuck into my stuff when we had a (proper) fire drill, so that pulled me out of my train of thought. and now I'm quite hungry but determined to hang on till lunch ;) maybe I need another coffee though...

I've had an okay week so far, stuck to my planned menus, had some cake at the weekend (MIL 65th birthday) here is a link to the recipe (non-Dukan!) with pictures - and I can report that my cake did look (and TASTE!) just as nice.
Rezept mit Bild: Schwarzwäder - Kirsch - Gugelhupf | Kuchen Rezepte

And last night we did have Fish & Chips. It was tasty but did not feel too excessive on the stomach. I had not actually had any chips since last year some time.

Feel and look normal today so no major ill-effects.

BUT I think I'll stay off the scales tomorrow  and enjoy the rest of the holiday period.

I never post my daily menus these days but maybe I should do these last three days to show (if I can remember):

Tue:
B: Dukan bread with roast chicken, Boiled egg, fruit yoghurt.
S: Apple
L: Salad made with lettuce, tomato, grated carrots topped with poached salmon from the weekend (yum!). the rest of my dukan bread with Bresaola. Baked custard
D: Dukan Friendly beef & veg stew, 2 small home made dumplings (=bread and cheese). Yoghurt.
S: 1 cardamom cupcake:D

Wed:

Thu:

S: coffee, dukan bread spread with quark and a bit of FF yelly as 'jam'
L: Dukan bread spread with quark and roast chicken, breasola. 1 rollmops herring in 'creamy dill' sauce (Fromfrais again). Baked custard
D: turkey stiry-fry, cinnamon yoghurt.

Fri (tomorrow)
B: Dukan porridge with Linseed & fruit

D: Lean Bolognese sauce and WM Pasta. Yoghurt
S: a chocolate biscuit:D or similar and a (home made) diet hot choc after a long rehearsal

On Saturday is my concert day, I'm away from home from after lunch till late at night so I'll make a Dukan quiche and take a piece of that, plus the usual veggies and an apple & yoghurt no doubt. Lunch is most likely going to be soup with lentils. And after the concert I might just need a glass of wine or so to restore my vocal chords :D

Have a good week / weekend everyone!

The cake looks fabulous. I already have a cake mould from Alsace which is exactly the right kugelhopf shape, too! :)

Sounds like you're feeling more confident and back in the swing of things, Anja. Your menus are fantastic - especially the genius idea of using jelly as jam!
