Couch to 5k challenge

Hi Everyone

Not posted in a while as I have been running 5k since week 7 day 3 and feel quite comfortable so I have now started my quest for couch to 10k starting on week 10 which is run 10mins and walk 1 minute 4x and progresses from there and is quite a challenge :)

Well done Vicky - I get where you are coming from there, once you get to week 7 and the 25 min runs it seems such a small progression to the 30 min runs you feel like you've finished it anyway.

I'm working towards 10K too, but am just running at least 30 mins 3 times a week, making it a bit longer when I feel like it rather than following any kind of programme. Last week I ran 5 miles - 10K is 6.2 so I'm nearly there anyway. Thinking of going for a 10K race for life run in July, I'm sure I'll be ready by then.

I wasgoing to ask how many miles in a K or visa versa?
I googled it and thought it may help anyone else reading.

5K stands for 5 kilometers which equals 3.1 miles

I've finished week 6! Hubby came with me today and he says I've got quicker, well at the beginning.. By the end I was really lagging and so was praying for it to end!

Not many left for me to do now, but my knees hate me! I am going to finish this though!
 
Can I join you all? I have completed week 3 and tomorrow start week 4, dreading it!!! Find it a great program as only 30mins and every second day so I can always push myself to do it, I do it first thing at about 7/7:30am so then it over with for the day. Like that after 3 days it changes so no time to get bored, pushes me all the time but not too much that I give up!!

Hi Trefoil, Gemini and Hannah, good luck with the running, I start week 7 tomorrow (aaahhh), finding it strangely addictive even though when I'm doing it I wonder what I'm doing lol but love the sense of achievement afterwards x
 
Hi all! I've just posted about this in a different section but this one seems to be appropriate to ask in too! my friend has just signed up to the brighton marathon next year and wants me to join too! I weighed in yesterday at 18st 6.5 but obviously this will quickly decrease the longer I'm on sw. I'm going to start c25k tomorrow but just wondered what you all thought about my weight and doing this? I actually really want to sign up to the marathon but dont know if a year will be long enough when I do exercise currently!

Did week 8 day one today - 28 mins running. I must admit I stopped twice to catch my breathe as a had a stitch, but otherwise fine! I listened to Lynn Truss' book 'eat shoots and leaves' and had to concentrate on the possessive apostrophe so that helped! ha ha

Good luck to all you ladies starting C25K I've finished now and moving on to C10K the couch to 5 k is fantastic I never thought I could run but with this I made it looking forward to running (yes running :) the race for life in June :)

I use the iPhone app for this but as far as I know it should record my distance and calories etc but it doesn't and I can't find how to do it, anyone know?

Mine doesn't but I also use endomondo which tracks route and distance. Not sure bout calories tho. X
 
Well I found today hard, felt very weak when I came back in, I do stretches both before and after but the front part of my lower legs still kill me!

Hope you dont mind me adding myself to the list! I went out and did my first session this morning. Feeling very proud of myself :) I'm not gunna lie though.. it wasnt easy towards the end! how long does it take to adjust? x

P.S I did end up signing up to next years brighton marathon so need to keep this up! x
