OMG I am so pleased with myself.. 20 minute run, never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine I'd be able to do it! X
 
Hi hope you all dont mind me asking a few questions... Iv tried reading the thread from the beginning but its takin me ages.
so last night i did W1D1, i think i did ok to be honest, and didnt feel like id done enough exercise, so do any of you do this aswell as other exercise? I was thinking of going swimming afterwards.
Also i did it in the gym on the treadmill, is this ok? i wasnt sure about the jogging speed.
Any advide greatly received! x

Just adding me on!! Well chuffed to be finished week 2, and notice week 3 only has 4 runs in total, I love it. Definitely think the psychology of doing 8 runs last week made it feel more difficult. This week's 6 runs have felt much easier, even tho it's for longer...

LornaGrace - I am doing the 30 day Shred as well, but not necessarily both on the same days. I am mega unfit so this feels like a good start to me x

My Week 9, Day 2 was a 5k run in the park - my first outdoor run - hard work, with a bit of walking up the hills, but I finished.
 
I am doing the NHS one couch to 5 k and have managed it so far. Run 2 of week 3 tomorrow and it is getting more challenging but I do feel so good afterwards. I am also doing SW and have been losing just 1 1/2 to 2lbs per week but feel much healthier.

Week 3 is hard!! But it seemed to be over fairly quickly which I liked!!

Do you use a treadmill or go out into the real world. Think I'd get bored very quickly on a treadmill.

I always try and mix up my route a bit - if you use a website like runkeeper or mapmyrun you can plot in a route, it will mark on there when you are at 1 mile, 2 miles etc, so you can plot a route in advance for the distance that you want. I try not to do the same route more than once each week, and I'm always keen to try new ones.

Only trouble is, you dont necessarily realise that there are hills until its too late - ah well, just makes it all even more of a challenge!
 
Thanks for your thoughts! I have a beautiful run between a stream and a cliff, stunning views, lambs, birds, butterflies and only a couple of dog walkers! I am fine if I drift away into la la land for a while, it's just when I think too much about legs or breathing that I feel more tired.
I might try listening to a book on my iPod or something to distract me now and again!

I use a low net access from phone with poor allowance and i cant complete them, my friend who helps me with Downloads normally is not available

Could anyone help me can they be sent via a zipped email?
 
Did week 8 day one today - 28 mins running. I must admit I stopped twice to catch my breathe as a had a stitch, but otherwise fine! I listened to Lynn Truss' book 'eat shoots and leaves' and had to concentrate on the possessive apostrophe so that helped! ha ha

Woodland girl you're doing so well.

I had a nightmare yesterday, although I did complete week 6 run 1 I don't know how!

Started off by getting a stitch during first run but didn't want to stop so kept going, by end of second run it was drizzling, by third run it was torrential rain, not good wearing a white t-shirt as the poor fisherman had an eyeful! Shoelace came undone but again didn't want to stop! So was a muddy, soaking wet mess and then not sure if it was the stitch or because I didn't stretch like I usually do but felt awful last night, really weak with no energy, went to bed at 8pm, just got in from work now and going to bed for an hour.. Don't know what's wrong with me! Thought running was supposed to be good for you?! X
 
Ha ha HP, been there with the soaking wet and muddy! Poor you, well done for doing it. Google stitches , it is really interesting what they are and how to sort them- key thing is to stop and sort it out, I just pause the programme if I need to

This run seemed easier than the last but I suppose it was dry and less windy today!

Thanks Woodland girl for the tip about reading about stitches, I usually run in the morning hence either no food or only a banana whereas I went after work so had had lunch, I also usually drink approx 3 litres of water a day and had barely had a litre as was so busy at work I didn't have time to keep topping up the glass so could have been dehydration as well.

I think I may be getting quicker.. Not fast by any standards but I do feel that I'm quicker than I was x
 
Hi Everyone

Not posted in a while as I have been running 5k since week 7 day 3 and feel quite comfortable so I have now started my quest for couch to 10k starting on week 10 which is run 10mins and walk 1 minute 4x and progresses from there and is quite a challenge :)
