its soluble dietry fibre (there are some in the colon cleanse tablets im having.)
What is Psyllium?
Psyllium is derived from the seed of the Plantago ovata plant (botanical name: Plantago ovata). Psyllium husk is an excellent source of soluble dietary fibre. It is native to Europe, North Africa and Asia and has been used for thousands of years as a safe and effective bulk laxative, intestinal cleanser and for maintaining bowel function, high in both fibre and mucilage. Modern diets lack natural fibre as it is removed during the refining process; a lack of fibre in the diet can lead to many digestive disorders such as constipation and haemorrhoids and is often the underlying cause to many diseases. Psyllium Fibre is beneficial for both constipation and diarrhoea and can assist in maintaining a normal and healthy bowel function.
Psyllium husks are pure dietary fibres that are not digested in the small intestine, but are partially broken down in the colon. They act as a sponge, absorbing water and waste material in the bowels. This helps to clear toxins, preventing them from staying too long in the colon. Generally, the fibre in our diet comes from wheat bran, which can be irritating to the sensitive walls of the bowel. As it is non-abrasive, Psyllium is ideal for sensitive cell walls. Psyllium husks are very safe and are used by millions of people throughout the world as a natural alternative to some habit-forming laxatives.

I have seen them mentioned on the dukan facebook and the dukan advisor has said they are ok to us. you can sprinkle in yog or use with your oatbran.

Gosh you are a good googler! Thank you!

Now... I wonder, in French...?

(The Portuguese are having a real ball outside here... crowds... flags... cars beeping... anyone would think they'd won the World Cup!)

My Tuesday menu - PP

Breakfast
- 1 x Dulcolax (aaahhh!)
- Dukan muffins (2 tblespoons oatbran and 1 tablespoon wheatbran) with smoked fish in the mixture

Lunch
- cod with calamari poached in cumin (half portion - not bad... I'll try warming it up today)*
- slice of roast beef
- bit of chicken
- fat free fromage blanc

Snack
- fat free fruit flavoured yoghurt

Dinner
- chicken breast stuffed with (something you can't get over there - hee hee - take note Cheryl)... fat free garlic + chive "cheese". (I use the "cheese" word lightly, but they're like "Boursin", minus the fat!). I'm going to split the breast, stuff it with the cheese, and bake it...

and cos that won't be enough, we'll share a tin of mackerel (natural). I've never tried it, so good opportunity, and it's "ok Dukan"!

----
* I thought I'd eat half a piece over two days rather than condemning myself to something I mightn't like. Haven't even tasted it... cos not that much fish!

morning :) mmm that sounds nice. Im going to do the same on thursday with chicken breast but with quark or xl phil and some garlic and chilli :D

PP day 2

B - 2 x boiled eggs
L - chicken with that hot hot dukan mayo
D - chicken tikka galette with mint dip
s - vanilla moist cake

Jo - forgot to say. I would take the dulcolax the night before. cos your tummy is full of food then and you arent gonna be pooing all day lol

Thats a good idea Vicky love. It makes more sense to take it at night rather than in the morning. It has more to work with then.

You'd think so wouldn't you (re Dulcolax) but I took 2 Saturday night, and nothing happened until nearly teatime Sunday (and I knew I had 3hrs in the car Sunday evening in traffic jams, so was panicking!!!).

I only took 1... no action yet, grrr! Will take another at bedtime if still same!

Vicky - with your galette and your moist cake, you're not over on the brans now are you?

Lol Jo be careful. Maybe you got nothing to come out . get those psyllium husks ordered.

No my cake will have less than half tbsp and galette is 1 and half tbsp and we allowed 2 per day :D

ugh... keep your fingers crossed... I hate all this business! never suffered before Dukan!

maybe have a go at this :)

Colonic Massage

Perform the massage either sitting on the toilet or lying down with your knees bent. Make a fist with your right hand and massage your colon using a digging, circular motion with your knuckles. Start at the lower right quadrant of your abdomen (just inside your hip bone) and work up to under the right side of your ribcage, then straight across, then down the left quadrant of your abdomen and when you get to just inside your left hip bone, massage in towards your groin/pubic bone. The idea is to massage the length of your colon which starts at the lower right quadrant of your abdomen and then up in a horseshoe shape under the ribs and down to the lower left quadrant of your abdomen. The rectal canal then extends from the lower left quadrant diagonally across to the groin (or pubic bone). Repeat this massage several times experimenting with varying pressure and your massage technique. This is a fantastic technique that can be used by anyone during, or to encourage, a bowel movement. It also relieves colic in newborns by helping them expel gas and stool.
