Debridgers' Food Diary & Ramblings

I can't stand people who weasel out of rounds... Or paying for anything... Karen and Rich are good at forgetting to pay... And it's usually those that can afford it...x

Frustrating isn't it?
In fact, 'cos Ken mentioned it, it's been on my mind, and has hacked me off even more, so much so that I might suggest next time he asks we say no 'cos neither of us are working and can't afford it....see if that's a big enough hint?

Car collected - we borrowed a big farm trailer with ramps for the cost of a few pints of Guinness ;-) although it was so big & heavy we spent more on fuel than a standard car run - thankfully it was only a 75mile round trip.
Car is nicely ensconced in the garage now, thankfully I moved last year, I had a standard sized garage before, this one now has the Triumph, the MG, both motorcycles, and still room for a large workbench down one end and partially down one side.

Now, this won't be on the road for this summer, if we have one, but fingers crossed for Summer 2014 :)
Of course, we have work indoors to do (well, I'll rephrase that Ken has work to do lol) so we're gonna be busy bees once the weather breaks and Kens up to speed, he's still quite drained, but nearly there.
Right, I have a cake in the oven that needs attending to.....see you later

Problem is its family, so it could make things awkward buying OH, his son and mine, and leaving her out when it's the 4 of us out together.

I'm fasting for health reasons, as in, your body needs time to repair itself, and fasting does this, it's like driving a car with your foot down at max all the time, if you carry on like that, it wears out, fasting is like taking your foot off the accelerator to give the engine a chance to rest a bit. Medical evidence indicates that fasting reduces age onset complications like diabetes, Alzheimer's, heart problems, strokes, some cancers etc. the added bonus of course is weight loss - or in my case quicker/bigger weight loss - I was happy enough with an average 1lb a week when I was just doing SW, but I feel so much better, and if old age is improved, I can't knock it

Sounds good! Keep up the good work :)

Right, i've just took the time to read upto where we left off before I went on hiatus. The DD day seems very interesting! How do you feel you're doing with it? Do you still feel better for having a fasting day? I take it you can still have fluid, does that include sugar?

Sorry for all the questions, i'm genuinely interested :) I've just Googled the Eat, Fast and Live Longer Horizon video you mentioned, so hopefully I *should* get some more questions answered there, haha :)

Well, I feel good on it, the first day or two were a little difficult, but sheer determination won through, I was not going to let 1 day not eating beat me.
Personally, I stick to black coffee (this is normal for me anyway), diet soft drinks, water, herbal/fruit teas and sometimes bovril.
Most people, whether following JUDDDD or 5:2 have around 500cals on fast days/DD and then either eat whatever, or aim for around 2000cals on feast days/UD
JUDDDD, if I recall, suggest 25% on DD and 125% on UD of your daily requirement he has a website that will calculate these figures, but as I say, most round to 500/2000
I know what I'm like, if I'm gonna be hungry, I want it to benefit, a full 16hr or more fast is reported to be most beneficial, having said that, any hunger pangs quickly disappear, and the do get easier after the first few.
Some of the IF (intermittent fasting) programmes say to avoid certain things, others just specify calorific intake, so, I guess sugar could be used, although it would eat into your allowance.
The advantage to IF is that you can tweak it to suit... I've decided that instead of ADF (alternate day fasting) which JUDDDD is, I've chosen 3 specific days to fast - Sun/Tue/Thu - but that suits my routine.

Michael Mosley has written a book called the fast diet, based on 5:2. i.e. 5 days eating 2 days fasting, I've downloaded a sample off of iBooks which covers a fair bit from the Horizon programme he did

Just finished watching the program, very interesting indeed! I may give it a go for a month and see how I get on! It's deffo worked in your favour :)

Look at us - pair of bloody night owls ain't we! haha :D

Well, I must admit, on fasting days I'm tired later than on non fasting days - strange, as you'd normally expect to feel more tired without good, but obviously not.
I couldn't find the programme on-line, can you send me the link you used please - ta
Good luck, I'm glad I've gone down that route

WK35 Wed 10APR - Red

Well, what a day... weather has been fab all day (not so good this evening)

had a lovely brekkie, did some washing & ironing (love when you can hang it out) whilst Ken went and cut down a tree,
We then went to the pub, I drank the 'new' standard, diet coke, and ended up driving anyway, as he had a thirst on (highly unusual, it's normally me!!)

Home for dinner, then I went upto where our SW class meet, as some of them have started WNW - Wednesday Night Waddle, so, with the breaking weather I thought I'd join them, back home just before 9pm, cuppa as I walked through the door, and now having some supper and a catch-up on here (oh, and some job sites too)

Breakkfast: cooked brekkie
poached egg, bacon, mushrooms & tomatoes

Snack: yellow plums & a mouthful of the banana loaf I made last night (1)

Late Lunch: hm veg soup
carrot,swede,turnip,onion,celery, oxo

Dinner: mussels // fruit
mussels, onion, garlic, stock cube, WW petit pain (HEB1) // grapes

Supper: 'post pub platter' (without the pub) - so post walk lol
smoked salmon, ham, hm coleslaw from Monday (carrot, onion, cabbage), 75g philli light (HEA1), beetroot, tomato, gherkin, pickled onions, WW petit pain (HEB2)

will probably take a hot chocolate made with my other HEA to bed

HEA x2 // HEB x2
Syns
banana loaf - 1
highlights - 2
total daily syns - 3
total weekly syns 98.5/100

the Wednesday Night Waddle was actually about 9 or 10 of us, we did 4.84 miles, some of which was quite uphill.....
OK, not a huge walk, but it's the rst I've done in a longtime - so, quite Happy - hope to sleep well tonight
