Ding Dong the Enemy's dead!

Mary, it is nice to see you posting again. Re the flushes, have you tried taking a soya supplement. I read that it has a very positive effect on the symptoms. It may not work for everyone. You could also take valerian to help you sleep a little better. I'm at the early stages of all this at the minute and am not suffering too badly and don't want HRT either. I'm taking the soya now for about a month or so.

Maybe I should know this but what's so bad about HRT?! x

Tanya, no reason why you should at your age! but there is evidence that it might give women an increased risk of getting breast cancer. I did a lot of research before I started and as I was then 48 my personal odds seemed to be ok, I don't want to take it for longer than necessary though so will be having another blood test at some point to see where I am in the whole menopause thing. Cos of the hysterectomy I don't have periods (one good thing about getting older!) so don't really know how far through it I am......

Ohhhh!!!!

Well Mary I hope you get it sorted soon :) Can't be nice x

Food yesterday.

Breakfast - Fruit and fibre with semi skimmed milk.
Dinner - Small portion of pasta, bolognese.
Snack - 2 oatcakes (I had to buy them yesterday lol) and a slither of cathedral city.
Supper - Nibbled at crisps in a bowl, half a slice of bread with jam.
Drinks - 3/4 bottle of white wine and HALF A BOTTLE OF BAILEYS - xmas feeling fast approaching.

Food today.

Breakfast - 2 slices of wholemeal seeded bread toasted with a scraping of lurpak, with grilled bacon (fat removed)
Pub lunch - Hot madras curry, half rice, half chips.
Snack - packet of crisps.
Supper - something light, but not too sure what yet.

I am suffering at the moment with hot flushes, I dont know when I last had a whole nights sleep without waking up drenched in sweat! Do any of you know any natural remedies which work for menopausal symptoms?

Hi, butting in here too. Try replacing your semi skimmed milk with soya milk. I know its sounds crazy but when I did that I found menopause symptoms almost dissapeared altogether.
They say women in Japan and China hardly suffer from these symptoms because of all the soya products they eat.
Well it worked for me anyway ;)

Tan ... as well as what Sandra said - which is completely right - I don't really like to put any chemicals into my body that don't need to be there ... (alcohol excepted ;) :p) I waited a long long time before going on HRT and tried pretty much every alternative first. Also, I didn't want to go back to having regular periods - I was happy to see the back of them, so I had to wait until I'd been free of them for a year before I could have the one that doesn't include a regular 'monthly'.
From not wanting to start I was unhappy that I had to stop :( .... still there we are doctor's orders and all that.

Mary - Even if you go for herbal/natural remedies, make sure they're compatible with your heart tablets! xx

I have decided (been thinking about it for a few months) that I would love a dog, and look at all the exercise I would get too.

I have made an appointment to go to the rescue kennels tomorrow, have a look at this link and scroll down to the white boxer (Shylo), this is the one I really have my eye on........he looks so adorable.

I am back to two holidays only next year, so there would be no problem, and look how fit I could get with all the long walks and playing.

They're all adorable in their own way aren't they?

Good idea re the exercise :)

I'm on the Stolly & dc tonight ;) xx
