Dizzy's Diary - Fitness First! Weightloss too now.

Knock those nibbles on the head! Naughty Dizzy!

Sounds like you had fun with the snow! I have been doing my accounts today, yawn.

Thanks Bex

That will teach me won't it for saying how much better it was going. Don't know whether it's the upset in routine, not getting to the gym, TOTM due or just one of those things I will need to be prepared for at any time.

Bother!

How's day 4 going for you. Day 4 is normally a toughie for you isn't it? Is your resolve sticking despite the accounts?

Haven't got out to the gym yet but I think it will do me good. But now I'm getting a bit nervous of going in the evening wondering who'll be there. Sometimes these things worry me, other times they don't. Shows my confidence is a bit under par this afternoon. Was feeling great this morning.

Silly girly aren't I?

Dizzy x

Yes, very silly, you look fab and i bet you are quite fit now you're not carrying all that extra weight! Get down to the gym in the eve, you'll enjoy it!

Surprisingly, i am feeling ok! I am not yet in ketosis, according to the stick this morning, but i know it has taken ages in the past so i am not worried. I feel good actually! And the scales are looking good! Will weigh properly on Monday. Just gotta get through the weekend in one piece...

Hi Bex

Glad it going so well! Hoping this is your corner turned. :)

I'm not going to the gym tonight but eager to go tomorrow. My legs are feeling much less sore now too so should be able to have a really good workout tomorrow. I'm not sure the gym will be open tonight it may have closed early and I really didn't fancy going out driving tonight in icy conditions. Decided I could wait until tomorrow. Plenty I should get on with this evening really.

I'm sure I'll go to the gym in the evening next week (half term). I don't let my confidence stop me doing things so very much these days. I just focus on myself at the gym as I'm sure everyone else is too. I think often if there are people in there that you know often you don't even notice or recognise each other, as not really taking a lot of notice and people are in different clothing and context than you are used to seeing them.

Sure boys will be back to school tomorrow, hope so it's the last day of half term.

heya dizzy,

just touching base and wanting to say hello :D

Hi Karen

Glad to say Hi too!

Will try to make time to track down your diary and catch up with your news now hubby is back. Have a little tale to tell you too. Will PM you me thinks!;)

Dizzy x

You don't need to shop in Tesco as you tell them where you shop and they set your meal plan and shopping list accordingly.

Oooh. I didn't know that:cool:

Was the review you read generally positive?
It was a big informative review, but though she is an independant dietician, she was writing for WLR. She does tend to be reasonable fair, but the review was bound to be a little biased;)

She talks a lot about how the diet runs, the info given etc:cool: and she says the "menus are varied and appetising"

Her main criticism is how the calorie allowance is divided meaning that it leaves little flexibility if you prefer 6 meals a day, or a smaller/larger breakfast and difficult to do if you eat anything extra that you fancy, or have a social occassion. That sort of stuff really.

There again, lots of people don't want the flexibility so it would suit them. I'll copy/paste her verdict (but remember...it's a little WLR biased.

Dieticians Summary
In summary, eDiets is a good choice for perhaps a month to get you on the road to losing weight, particularly if you’ve never dieted before or initially like to be told what to eat. But after this time, most people will probably be crying out for a little more flexibility. This is perhaps the biggest criticism of eDiets – you don’t have the opportunity to trial the plans and so have to sign up for 10 weeks without being able to see whether any of the diets will actually suit you for this length of time.

They do have the Gi level on certain foods at tesco. Which will be helpful to me more as time goes on and I plan my own menu's more.
Dizzy x
Thanks for that. I've sort of seen in on some items in places but it would be good if it was on everything wouldn't it. Makes it easier to make good GI choices.

Hi Karion

I think on the whole her review is fair. The Gi plan does give you three meals breakfast, lunch, dinner all equal calories and an evening snack (roughly half calories on a meal) I like to eat this way myself as I love a big breakfast and lunch but find evening meal a bit harder. I think it's OK to save part of the meal to have another time in the day although I do realise that meals are developed to mix medium and low Gi items together etc. So I guess it is better to eat them as they are in the plan if you can. For those who can't eat this way though there are other plans on ediets for instance a points diet which I guess is like weight watchers which is ideal for those who like lot's of flexibility. On ediets you can change your plan at any time and don't need to stick to 10 weeks of one plan. It also isn't expensive to sign up for 10 weeks it costs just under £30 and they always have offers on clubcard points, free gifts, free weeks etc. So even cheaper in reality I got 1000 clubcard points which will convert to £40 worth of days out vouchers or something for the family!

Although I am struggling at times I am loving the Gi principals and foods. The menus are really easy to prepare and delicious. I am tryng to make the most of the 10 weeks I have signed up for and learn as much as I can along the way.

Haven't lost any weight overall yet unfortunately but am optimistic that I will crack it with time. I know I am feeding my body better though which is worth a lot.

I will keep posting how I am getting on however hard it gets (or not) and try to give anyone inerested an insight into Gi and ediets.

Gi Diet: Day 18

Weight: Gonna forget about weight until after TOTM! Too depressing.

Breakfast:

60g Healthy Living Bran Flakes
Skimmed milk
1 slice of wholemeal toast and spread.
Banana

Am suffering from the 2 eggs yesterday for breakfast. Won't have more than one egg again. My body can't hope and the whole family has suffered too.

Have varied from the plan this breakfast. Only in that I am having 1 slice of toast not 2 and a banana as the serving of fruit. Bananas aren't included in the one portion of fruit so is slightly larger. But as only one piece of toast this will more than make up for it.

Think the day off from the gym has been good for my body as sore spots have disappeared. Will get to gym today but lots to get done so need to get organised. Today is the last day the kids are at school then 12 days at home:rolleyes: so need to make the most of it.

Sorry to hear about the weight, I guess we will all gain when going from ss to any diet. Then when our bodies adapt, the weight starts to come off again. Give it time, it will work out in the end, especially with all the exercise you're doing.

((((HUGS))))

Thanks for the hugs Bex!

Will focus again on weight next week. Hopefully it will start going down again then. Need to set strategies for when the munchies set in! The gym is definitely doing lots of good and the muscles feeling firmer would be nice to get back too 11 stone though then I could see the firm muscles too.

Have a good day!:)

Hang in there - you are doing great :D

Think of all that muscle mass you are building as a base for burning fat:D . Also all the fat you are currently burning at the gym:D .

I am off to Brighton this weekend to see my OH folks. They are Arabic and food is always very high on the agenda so I expect to be porky on my return!!

Hi Tasha

Thanks for always being so encouraging and supportive.

Hope you have a great weekend in Brighton. Enjoy it whatever you do and eat!

Had a bit of a diet day off today. Will be able to focus again tomorrow. Mizzy will be around to keep an eye on me. Hopefully TOTM will be on time (due tomorrow) and then I can start thinking forward. Don't know why I have been so fixated on it the last few days don't usually take too much notice. Maybe it's been the weightgain I've always been happy to weigh daily but maybe I should weigh less often for a while.

Still went to the gym today. Feeling great burned 800 calories my muscles are all fine now no longer sore but my right ankle is still a bit stiff still and so it is painful to run on the treadmill, I'm fine to speed walk uphill but if I go to a jog it's uncomfortable. Hopefully that will repair itself in a few more days.

How are you doing Bex, with day 5?

Karion, Artie got the Headteachers certificate today:) for: his artwork always being of high standard! He was proud but I think he would have been prouder if they had recognised his efforts in something else. It has kind of given him the impression that that is the only thing he is good at. He is very good naturedly joking with his brother that the teacher said "Well done Artie, your artwork is always of high standard but you are a dimwit at everything else!":(

Do you think I should mention to his teacher that he seems to be starting to feel that way?

Dizzy x

Well done Artie!!

Yes, I think you should mention it to the teacher, as long as you tell her how pleased he was getting the award in the first place, but then what he mentioned to his brother.

I know I always like to know what's going on behind the scenes when they get home. Nothing like good communication with the parents over things like this.

Yes thanks! I think it's best too!:)

Some time after half term I'll just mention it.

MacKenzie is still waiting for one he did mention that he didn't get one today but is very accepting now and was pleased to tell me which children got one today.:)

Gi Diet: Day 19

Breakfast:

60g All Bran with skimmed milk
1 slice wholemeal toast with peanut butter
Banana

Still trying not to freak out about my weight. Mizzy and I are going to keep each other on the straight and narrow today.

Going to try to finish reading the Paul McKenna book today and listen to the CD. When I'm good, I'm good (and happy:) ) but I need to have strategies to prevent me going of the rails for whatever reason and whenever it happens:confused: .

Dizzy x

You're doing really well Dizzy, keep up the good work and I'm sure the scales will be kind soon. Your overall trend seems to be very good and let's face it who doesn't have an occasional blip (can't see any hands up from here;) )

Have a lovely weekend

Thanks MD

Hope you have a nice weekend too.

It does help to be told that on the whole I'm doing OK as sometimes the blips + the scales seem to take over your thoughts, although I am trying hard not to let that happen.

So far today enjoying a day at home to catch up on bills, paperwork etc. It quite a relief to see some of these things done and discussed. Hopefully may do a little DIY job later as we have many to get up to date.

Maybe we will go out tomorrow but today it's quite nice to just be home!:)
