Dizzy's Diary - Fitness First! Weightloss too now.

Up here it's next week, but I know my dad often says that schools down there are a week behind.

So that's not much help at all really

You should be able to! All my meals are my family's meals. No way was I going to cook separate meals for myself now I'm maintaining. Don't even use low fat mince, though I do drain off obvious fat.

Right from weaning, we all had the same...though obviously theirs was pureed at first :D

I could do separate meals if I was aiming to lose weight, but not for a lifetime. Reckon I'm much too lazy:eek:

Thanks KD fingers crossed I can't afford to put on anymore. I normally cook the whole family the same meal too but I am following Tesco Gi plan at the moment to learn the Gi plan and to lose a bit too as I am up 13lbs since before Xmas. I am making seperate meals for me because I am weighing all the ingredients and making a one portion serving. I'm finding it quite educational to see how much I can eat!

Don't think all three boys would eat all the meals yet. But when I have tried more of the recipes I hope to be able to incorporate them for the family too. They are quite good at trying new stuff and compared to most kids not too fussy. Just learning and trying to be as careful as possible at the moment. Although my main emphasis now is on eating healthily and getting fit. Followed by not gaining anymore and lastly on losing a little more.

Wasn't able to make the Butternut and Apple Soup until this evening as I'd forgotten my soup pot was in use this morning. Have just had a small bowl to try. Very nice. The boys will have some tomorrow night. Mizzy had 2 big bowls he obviously thought it was very nice too.

Gi Diet: Day 17

Weight: 11 st 13lb:sigh:

Breakfast:

2 poached eggs
2 slices of wholemeal toast
low fat spread

Snowy snowy day.:D School is closed and kids home. Mizzy not risking the drive to Cambridge today so a full house. :)

They are happy indoors at the moment on the nintendo wii but it will only be a matter of time when they will want to be out in it making a snowman and sledging on the Downs.

They will all be able to have warm Butternut squash and Apple soup for lunch. So that's handy it all ready made thanks Devonbabe!;)

Not sure if I'm going to make the gym or even if it's open. Will give them a call in a bit. Need to go find some ski pants and boots and stuff for the boys, will go raid the attic.

Ooooh I'm jealous an unexpected family day at home - sounds lovely.

We have snow - but not enough for school's to be shut or OH to come home.

Enjoy your day Dizzy and Mizzy and boys.

Don't think it's gonna last long. Still snowing but is sliding off my car. Theo doesn't have any boots or even a very warm coat as he won't normally wear one. Guess it won't hurt them to be out in it for long. Derek's just got his ski pants out though. Woo hoo, he just getting them on now!;)

Woohoo - I love the snow :D :D :D

My kids are off too - unfortunately I have come to work and they are with my Mum who has today off. They were out at 8 this morning playing with the kids in the street:D

Noticed your exasperated expression on the weight front - stick with it - dont forget you are exercising so much and are gaining muscle mass:) . It WILL level off and then raise your metabolic rate and so burn MORE calories:D . You probably know all this - I just wanted to say in case you were feeling demoralised.

Hi Tasha

Thanks for your support!

I'd just feel a little more comfortable a few pounds less not that I feel uncomforatable but don't want to see 12 again when I was almost seeing 10 before Xmas. I know you are right and I feel fine physically it is just the psychological worry of being nearly a whole stone up!

They are all out with daddy building a snowman. Was worried about my eldest having nothing warm then remembered he has my size feet (actually slightly bigger) and so is in my walking boots and my ski coat too. The other 2 have managed to get togged up in stuff from Canada.

Will go join them in a bit.

Hope you enjoying the Gi Plan.

Sounds like your boys are having good fun Dizzy. We've got some snow here but most schools are open, just the more rural ones are closed. Mind you it hasn't stopped snowing since first thing this morning, so quite a layer down now.

Keep warm & enjoy your soup.

There was a review on this on WLR this week. Well...the ediets, but I think they are the same aren't they?

I don't often shop in tesco as DHworks in ASDA, so I get a discount there:cool: I was wondering though, does the Tesco stuff show the GI levels of foods? I've never really noticed.

I often wondered how one poster (I forget who:eek:) knew that one of the Baxters soup were low GI.

How long have you been doing the Tesco GI diet and how are you finding it overall?

Thanks it is lovely to see the boys so excited and enjoying an unexpected day off school.:)

Soup was lovely and warming on our return from playing on the Downs.

It's stopped now. Mizzy's phoning work now to see if the weather is good enough there to go on in. Ha Ha it's up there now so he's not.

So I could even go to the gym now if I like!:D

Just need to write up my lunch. Certainly not having the urge to binge now my calories have been increased. Fingers crossed!

Hope you can have fun today too.

Yes ediets, tesco ediets are the same.

You don't need to shop in Tesco as you tell them where you shop and they set your meal plan and shopping list accordingly.

Was the review you read generally positive? I am loving the meals and recipes. Lovely and hope that now my calories are inceased I won't have another episode of wanting to binge like last week.

This is only my third week but overall I am really enjoying it and hope it will work out well for me. Learning how much I am actually supposed to eat is surprising. It is making me realise that my body was probably always reachng for rubbish because it wasn't being properly nourished even though I have always felt I had a fairly healthy diet excluding the extra c**p.

They do have the Gi level on certain foods at tesco. Which will be helpful to me more as time goes on and I plan my own menu's more.

Lunch:

Bowl of Butternut and Apple Soup
1 wholemeal pitta
1 slice wholemeal bread, lowfat cheese sandwich.
1 HL Date and Walnut Slice
1 coffee made with milk

The Tesco Healthy Living Date and Walnut slices I like very much. They are low Gi and only 70 calories. They are small but enough for you to feel you have had a little treat.;)

I made a coffee with milk today. I usually don't have any milk in drinks but although I can't find any reference to it on ediets I'm sure there must be a milk allowance for drinks. It was a lovely treat to have a milky coffee on this snowy day and it went down well with the Date and Walnut slice.:)

Been feeling a bit nibbly this afternoon, tried to stave it off with water and then been trying to make sensible choices but had a little more than I would have liked.

Had 2 thorntons after lunch.

Then when I started to feel peckish had water, then handful of cashews. Then decided I needed to stop and prepare a proper snack so got out the reduced fat houmus and oatcake crackers. Unfortunately I ended up having 6 crackers. Then wished I thought to try a yoghurt or a slim a soup instead. Maybe I should write myself a list of snacks so that I can make a good choice. I have now had a slim a soup and feel satisfied.

Will try to take the food consumed above into consideration when preparing food for the rest of the day. As Mizzy is home going to take advantage and get to the gym this evening. I think I've missed it today although my leg muscles could do with a little rest.

Found out that with ediets gi diet there isn't an allowance of milk for drinks but you are allowed up to 3 or 4 (info. conflicts) with a splash of milk each day. As I don't take milk as a rule I guess the occasional latte will be OK especially as I can also have milk as an alternative to say yoghurt when it's in the plan. Also when they give me a milk allowance it is always semi skimmed and I use skimmed. There is quite a degree of flexibility but I feel at the start it is good to try to keep simple and take advantage of flexibility along the way.

Snow is thawing now! Poor snowman has lost his carrot nose and is a bit lop sided now.:(
