It's 6:56 in the morning and once again, no sleep.

For those who have myfitnesspal, you should add me ;)

I told my dad about the TEFL program so I can go teach in China or different countries. My dad looks at me like I'm stupid and doesn't say anything. It hurts. He tells me instead to go talk to my cousin and ask her about cosmology school. I told him I don't want that, I want to get out of here. I love traveling and to go to china and teach English and get paid and travel? Seriously? Heck yes! But it's expensive to get that education. I can do 4 weeks or part time of 11 weeks and I can do it online.

Sigh.

I just want to get out of here but at the same time, how would I leave my dog? He is my world and I wouldn't be able to bring him with me.

Sigh.

New record! 41 minutes on the rowing machine :)

I've been wanting to do TEFL for years now. Its not awfully expensive in the UK - around £1100 for the 4 week course, but I'd have to quit my job and live in my van for the duration of the course as its not local to where I live. I'd then be stuck until some work came through, and wouldn't be able to claim any benefits as I'd have voluntarily left my job. So saving up for it at the minute, and waiting for the right moment to take the plunge. If its something you want to do, then go for it! Even if you save $40 a month, it will happen a lot quicker than if you don't :) I have friends who are living and working in China and they love it!

Do you have a degree too? I don't so I'm limited to where I can go. But it's about $1350 (£1024) for part time so I can stay home and do it for 11 weeks. The next closest is in Chicago which is 4-5 hours away and in another state for 4 weeks and that one is £1214 or more and I have a car so I don't know where I'd stay but 4 weeks in class is much better than 11 weeks over the computer. I can go to other states but they're too far and can go to other countries but they estimate that to be $3,000-$5,000 (£2274-£3795) for four weeks and that's too expensive.

I've been looking into college again. The first one I was kicked out because I didn't care and didn't get good grades. I was 17 years old and in college. I honestly didn't care at all. Now I'm 24 and I need to do something with my life. I'm thinking about going back for business but I'm horrible in math (I took the same math class 6 times and failed it. Yes, I'm serious I'm that bad). My advisor at school told me I should check in talking to a doctor about getting Adderall to help focus and she thinks it'll be a huge improvement and I'll be able to pass.

But I'm definitely saving up to get a TEFL certificate. Do you have any idea on when you'll be able to go for it?

Yes I have a degree already, but the colleges in the UK don't ask for one specifically, more they ask that you are at that level of education, ie would you struggle to study degree level. Classroom based would be much better - you do practicals and get to practise so much more useful. I am hoping to start in February but have to clear it with work and go through interviews etc. will do 12 week part time, so I can continue working. Its about 90 mins away from me so travel will cost a lot!! There is a college locally that does it but only the 4 week course and I can't really give my job up, its too risky. I am considering doing it in Spain and living in my van for awhile; would save a lot of money!! Either way don't let other people put you off - do your research and find a route that you can do it, go for it :) your grandma would be proud I'm sure x

cps I failed maths 4 times but I have qualifications coming out of my ears. It has not done me any harm as I know how to use calculators and the Internet, which answer all maths questions ;) my friend sent me a list of books for recommended reading would you like me to send it to you? Might be worth trying to get hold of one and see how you go with it, do your prep before you apply so your knowledge is solid and you look keen at interview? X

I think I'll wait a year and see where my life and head is at then. I know for sure I'll be traveling but I will also start college.

And yes please, I'd like to check those books out! Thank you :)
