I think it's the same only it's called NCT in ROI. You have to go to an NCT centre to get it done. Generally, you put your car into mechanics for a service (they check everything is ok & fix if it isn't). You get an "NCT" car wash (under the car) and THEN you can get it NCT'd. Of course, if you add the cost of all of this it definitely adds up. It's a bit ridiculous because they sometimes fail cars on stupid things altogether!!

Can you bring the car in before its due? Would be an idea to get it tested now so if there's anything needs doing you get it done it done before the test is due so it can all be right when it is due and you'll have 1 less worry.. Then time won't be an issue..
Tho clearly I don't follow that advice as mine was due on Sept/Oct of last year and its still not done
