From Maximus to Minimus - coming soon!

Oh, and I forgot to commiserate with you, Steve, about Saturday.
You may never speak to me again, but I'm afraid I'm a Magpie myself.

And, while staying in Durham at the weekend, I went to some friends for Sunday lunch.
Sunderland supporters.
I'm not quite sure how we can be friends, but we are, despite that.
Anyway, when I commiserated, very caringly I thought, I was treated to a big harrumph, and was asked if I could possibly repeat the sentiment without the big grin! Nope. Not possible.
Although he did admit that it probably should have been worse, acknowledging the hand ball which should have given us a penalty rather than a corner.

(Mind you, it was only the dad in the room at the time. Had the 17 year old son been there, things might have got a little more heated!)

Erm...Sarah...

Haven't you got some work to do?

Or some knitting...?

Or some spinach to wilt...? ;)

Yes, boss.
Certainly, boss.
Just getting back to it, boss.

But I can't really knit at work. That might be just SLIGHTLY too obvious!

Hear! Hear!

Newcastle were robbed of that penalty!

:bolt:

Jim, i think northumberland beats all tbf. I come from Beadnell near seahouses and i think its exceptional.. hehe
xx

Now play nice everyone.

We are perhaps very fortunate here in that County Durham has some magnificent country - especially to the west. Northumberland to the north, CUmbria and the lakes to the west and North Yorks and the moors and dales to the south. Even to the east we have a tremendous coastline from Berwick all the way to the Humber!

Right, that's the tourist information bit.

Fair play to Ne*castle. they deserved the win and they wanted it more. Yes it was a penalty and a sending off so justice done. That's enough of that one;)

SO my WI yesterday. I gained 3lb and although that might upset some folk, it delighted me. I was in danger of having to pay again as I was 1lb below the 3lb limit for target. So now I am 10st 11lb and target is 10st 12lb - a great place to be - I'm sure you'll agree.

All the walking I do is NOT for weight loss, but more for a) The challenge and b) tonining and muscularisationism and c) the word in b) was made up by me and I think it is truly brill!

I did manage to walk 12.4 miles yesterday, including walking in the peeing rain last night after work!

250.1 miles done in 24 days but no walkig this mornng because of wet boots, bad weather and blistered feet.

Permission to call me lazy and stuff granted.

Anyway, still thinking of a challenge for September. So far the only "real" challenge I can think of is to spend 2 weeks in Florida and NOT gain. THat's a challenge in itself. Not sure if I'm up for it. I'd sooner gain and enjoy taking it back off again like last time to be honest.

Come on you lot, help me out with some sort of challenge. It hasn't got to be physical - it can be a food one;)

I challenge you to a week of slobbing in front of the TV :D

I challenge you to a week of slobbing in front of the TV :D
Watching every single solitary episode of the soaps - including the omnibus editions.

I challenge you to knitting yourself a jumper! Whilst slobbing in front of the TV!

Mad as a box of frogs!

For some reason I bought a 40in HD tv and subscribe to Virgin for the whole Sport & Movie package then stopped watching telly!

Bad enough spending so much time on here without ogling the gogglemonster;)

I took advice today as was feeling tired and run-down. Didn't walk at all. In fact didn't even get to work as came down this morning with what I assume was a migraine and nothing could shift it. :( I never suffer these. Hot bath, cold flannel, pills, stronger pills, lie-down in darken room - even the old lavender essence didn't work (as recommended by an aromatherapy friend).

I probably wouldn't have walked anyway as woke up to heavy mist and waterlogged ground this morning. Not a good way to start a summer's day. - still got a bit of a headache now.

So, what does it all mean? Well, I remain on 250.1 miles and now have just 6 days to complete the challenge.

On the plus side I batched some curry (chicken) made a pasty-free cheese and onion flan, and sneeked out to Asda as I needed to shop! - I feel such a fraud!

Have enough chicken, lamb, extra lean mince, turkey & fish (and assorted seafood) to ensure the next week will be an original one for sure!

I wouldn't care it's my feet that need TLC not my head!

Gonna make cous cous & salmon fishcakes tomorrow. (Thanks to Jackie's diary thread)

Oh! I have a christening to look forward to at the weekend - woo hoo me in a suit and not a court appearance in sight;)

Hey stevie babe,

Sorry to hear you've been under the weather :( Hope you're all better now x.

I'm glad you had a rest day from the walking tbh. I really think you need to give your body time to recover after exercise.

I'm trying very hard to think of a 'clean' challenge for you but for some reason I seem to be struggling...:)

Ooh, just read on Jackies thread that you like your ego massaging...now is that a euphemism or a metaphor...never could tell the difference lol!

It's a euphimor, or is it metaphism? - words are not my strong point.

Looks like I've started a new challenge! - it is now 48 hours since I walked. Can anyone match that lol?

My feet were sore, and blistered and now I can feel the difference. I had forgotten it was the bank holiday. So I have plenty of time to get out.

Going to a christening on Sunday afternoon - just confirmed I'm playing taxi driver so the ladies can have a drink (see you lot, I HAVE got a heart after all:D) I'll get to wear a suit, Sunday best and all that, though if it is anything like the last christening I went to a couple of years ago, I will be overdressed as the jeans and T-shirt brigade flood the church:mad: - i must be getting old!

What's everyone else doing over the weekend? - I might head to the hills - depending on the weather. Another option is take the train to Whitby on Monday. Saturday and at least part of Sunday will be spent getting some miles in so as to complete my walking challenge.

Have a great bank holiday everyone, hopefully work-free and hope the weather is good to one and all.

Steve

Hi Steve,

Sounds like you have a nice weekend ahead of you. Give those little leggies a rest ;)

But seriously, what on earth were you doing letting you feet get so bad??? :grumble: You have to learn when to take a break from it, ok??? :copon:

Now I make no apology for my rant cos us ten stoners have to stick together and look after each other x :8855:

Schoolboy error I'm afraid.

Instead of ALWAYS wearing walking boots or walking shoes, I sometimes throw on a pair of trainers or worse still works shoes - or sometimes even worse nylon socks etc.

Any experienced walker knows sturdy footwear and woollen socks are essential. Basically, the blisters I had were not allowed to heal.

Anyway, I plan 3x12.5 mile days over the bank holiday (approx) leaving just about 12.5 to do over the last two days. With having two days off now it means I have to go for it regardless of the weather - hmm another schoolboy error.

I need strength and only spinach can save me now! - you hear me Sarah?;)

I double posted then - not realising I'd already replied. Trying to work out whether senility or tiredness kicking in. Hmm phew! - just seen the time lol.

Sarah, can you confirm Northants has to be the epicentre for fruitcakes?

Erm...just what are you trying to say there Stevie babe???

Sue, trust me, it has cleaned up considerably since you appeared! - they were frightening before!

So, getting back to the real world, despite an early night last night, I really struggled to get up this morning. 4.45am starts really take their toll. I've no doubt I am too obsessed, but I can't give up now.

:eek::eek: Dawn and I are barely hitting our REM sleep at that time.

And as for cleaning up the thread - jeez, what a scary thought :p

Evening Steve x

You have to tell me what drives you hunni :worthy:

How do you keep this up? (no pun intended but actually giggling away quietly to myself...sorry :ashamed0005: )

I've got the diet thing sussed now...it's almost second nature ...but I struggle with regular exercise  I'm going to be walking little Sukis legs off soon, but it's going to be a bit of a dawdle rather than a proper walk, bless her x

LOL. Me and you both on the exercise thing though. I'm rubbish at the moment.

Nothing flash - just a Nissan Note diesel;)

I tend to have an obsessive personality. Without sounding morbid, I dedicate it all to my fallen friends no longer with me. I dedicate it all to their memory. That is what drives me and keeps me motivated - simply put, I have a choice, their's was cruelly taken away.

I understand the obsessive thing. It's what has made me successful on SW. However it can be hard to find a balance. I definitely have a better balance than I did a few months ago but I think I'll always have to be a bit obsessed otherwise I will just end up fat again. It's a penalty to pay for my personality but can be used to it's best at times too.

Yay. Odd as it sounds, well done on the gain :p

I think the walking will really help you but it's definitely all about the balance. I would be exhausted, grumpy and horrible getting up at 4.45am - I'd rather cut my leg off but each to his own.

Totally agree about Florida. As lovely as it would be to come back without a gain, I think for me it wouldn't be worth the deprivation that I'd feel there. As much as it's been hard for me since then and I would try to do things a bit differently next time, I don't have many regrets.

Oh come on Dawn - even you could work that one out. Mind it might take several of you to "pool your (limited) resources"

:p

Sorry I turn into a stereo-typical geordie male after midnight!

Ha ha ha ha ha ha :8855: Love it :D

Must go to bed. Have sleep to catch up on............zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Evening bonny lasses!

Well, I had a good sleep, a good lie-in (8am no less:cool:) and awoke to a damp, cold day.

I abandoned the idea of walking, and further damaging my aching and blistered feet (they are muchly better after two days off).

In fact, I did some holiday arranging, booked a rental car for Florida, filled up with diesel, and accidently purchased an Ipad2! - (don't ya jost hate it when that happens???)

Actually, it is to keep in touch and continue keeping tabs on everyone from Florida;) couldn't find the laptop I wanted - so voila! I now have the full set of apple products:eek: No wonder the CEO has retired, I like to think I built up his pension myself

I've decided to get properly well. Tomorrow I have a meeting to go to, and then a christening and the social event afterwards.

This means abandoning my walking attempt in order to prevent further damage and allowing everything to heal properly. I'll be off again next Sunday with the ramblers so retire on 250 mile for the month.

Anyhow....

Regarding my next challenge - you may recall I asked for ideas? - well Heather, a pal from work, has suggested I do something outrageously against my beliefs and out of my comfort zone.

I've agreed and despite being terrified of, and not particularly liking them, I'm going for a horse riding lesson! - I'm now light enough not to hurt them, and despite a couple of ex's asking me to go horseriding, I always avoided it like the plague!

Not sure if it is new found confidence, bravado, stupidity or just me wanting to try new experiences but looks like I'm going cowboy:p

Well it was either that or parachute jumping:eek:

Steve

Well Steve 250 miles in a month is not to be sniffed at. Well Done! :D fantastic achievement.

Gosh horse riding. You are brave. I haven't got on a horse since I was a teenager and think I'd be terrified at the thought. Look forward to hearing how you get on :) x
