I think they are similar as the ingredients you mentioned are the same, I think teh rainy day meatballs are pork, you'll have to post the recipe

Mum starts chemo on 26th Jan, 3 weeks away, she is in so much discomfort, stepdad has called hospital and asked if they can bring it forward or drain away some of the fluid to make her comfortable

I will indeed post it hun and let you know the verdict! Oh dear, on one hand it's good that the chemo is finally starting soon but terrible that she is in discomfort! Must be heartbreaking to see her like that! Maybe they will be able to drain some fluid?! 3 weeks must seem like a lifetime if she's in pain! Poor thing! I'm DREADING my mum being in that situation which she may well find herself in at some point!!! Big kisses!!

Hi Funcurls
I used to work in a Unit like that, but had to move coz of my DH's job! But I think times have changed & there doesnt seem to be the same commaraderie anymore which is a shame!
I had to have an ACDF C5/6 in September (swear its nursing related as we used to have to lift pts 'back in the day'!), so am only just getting back into work! Hopefully these awful shifts we have to do wont muck up the SW, but Im sure it wont! Nights are probably the worse tho! Looking at your weight loss, you've done amazingly well.

Sorry me again.........I just had a nosey at the beginning of your Diary & you mentioned a slow cooker meal. Im thinking of getting one, as Im sure it will be useful for the shifts we do, so could you recommend one x

Hi Kim, sorry to hear about your back/neck problems! Sounds nasty and indeed probably the result of years of heavy grafting! Lifting? What's that? Haha! I reckon in our job we're all causing ourselves damage over time whether or not we practice the correct handling techniques!! it's difficult to avoid! Hope you're better now and getting back into the swing of it! About the slow cooker- oooh do invest in one! I thoroughly recommend it! I bought a large oval Breville one- it cost about £30 but they vary massively in price- I know that supermarkets do them from about £15 and I'm sure they're much of a muchness! I opted for a large oval one so that I could make bigger batches of things (there are only 2 of us but I make things last 2-3 days or freeze things) AND I cook whole chickens and joints of lamb/pork/ham hocks. The meat literally falls clean off the bone!! Casseroles are so easy to do in it too! I couldn't be without mine!X

Look at this- I just went to the Argos site and found this large oval one for half price! Looks like a real bargain!

Grrrwww had the family here all weekend which was lovely but unfortunately my good intentions to stick more or less to plan fell by the wayside!! When it came to it I just couldn't resist the cheese & biscuit's, Mum's 70th Birthday cake, ice cream chocolates and naughty food on the 2 occasions we have eaten out!! I'm frustrated because I'd been making good headway into the 7.5lb gain I had over the Christmas period (3.5lb loss last week) and now I feel like I'm going backwards again!! I know that I'll be fine when I haven't got any occasions to celebrate, but as lovely as it was to have my family with me, I'm so looking forward to a clear run with nothing to celebrate so that I can string a few weeks of losses together and feel like I'm making progress again!!!X

Week 63- Day 7 (Mon)- Extra Easy- Day off.

Breakfast- 3 egg scramblette with smoked salmon. Fresh pineapple.

Lunch- 3 Quorn fillets with homemade tomato sauce (left over from meatballs) and spaghetti. Cherry Activia fat free Snackpot.

After WI- Went to pub with friend-
Taverners chicken- chicken breast, bacon (?2 syns for a little fat), cheese (estimated 28g- HEXa- looked about that amount!!), BBQ sauce (?4 syns), jacket potato no butter, peas and salad garnish.

Total syns 6.

Good luck getting back on track Hevs - i am in the same boat, but its been self sabotage, not family sabotage thats my weakness.

I have today cleared the majority of naughty foods out of the cupboards (and into the bins!) and hope that it will all help! If it is sitting in my cupboard i cant help but 'dream' about it - and then end up eating it! gah!

I am focused now - as you say, a clear run ahead - 100% here we go! x

Hey you, I've written on your diary! Well it may have been family sabotage, but strictly speaking it was Hev-sabotage because it's only myself who can make decisions about what I put in my own mouth afterall!! So yes, a clear run and 100% for a few weeks is what we both really need Taylor!! I just can't wait to see a string of losses over a few weeks that will really show results!X

Hi Heather....thanks for the info on the slow cooker. I've bought a Cuisineart 6.5L oval shape, a large one like yourself & there's only 2 of us as well, but I like to bulk cook to pop into the freezer. Made a soup yesterday & one of Britmums recipies cooking now & smells yum.So, think its a good investment...better be as it cost £69!!!

I wouldnt worry about your weekend, it was a special occasion after all & you're going back on plan, so the focus is there & you are doing SO WELL with your weight loss......very difficult as a nurse as there's always choccies sitting around on the desk from grateful 'reli's'......why dont they buy us fruit!!! Mind you, do you ever wander how far we walk on a shift? So we must burn a fair few calories on a 37.5 hr week!!! x

Haha Allie!!

Yes it's sooo annoying Kim when there is a constant flow of chocs on the desk! I'm usually pretty good these days at avoiding them! Unfortunately I have my moments, especially on nights, and especially when colleagues who think that nights are all about treating our bodies with pure fat and sugar and bake cakes and make cheesecakes!!! It does make it hard! I think my problem is at the moment that I'm so much happier with the way I look and feel than I was this time last year, so I allow myself to 'relax' far more than I would have done before losing a subsantial amount! I'm messing around with it a bit if I'm honest and finding it easy to convince myself that i've 'only got 1 stone to go' so can afford to have a little of this and a bit of that and the stone can wait!! Whereas this time last year when I had 5 stone to go I was just absolutely desperate to see progress and results!! The reality is that I would LOVE to get to target sometime soon so know that I have to change my attitude and FOCUS!!! Glad you got your slow cooker and enjoying it already!! Try a chicken or a joint of lamb- I'm sure you'll be impressed with the results! For the chicken I scrunched up balls of foil and placed them in the bottom for the chicken to 'lay(!) upon so that it isn't sitting in its juices- no need to add extra liquid to meat as it produces enough of its own!X

It seems to be the chosen answer for everything lately lol

Some of the girls im work wear pedometers, I'll have to see how many steps they do a day! Got to be a fair few mind but then I think the chocolates wipe that out single handedly, never mind the biscuits.

Enjoy your slow cooker! I love whole cooked chickens in mine! xx

That's very true Allie!! It takes a lot of activity to get rid of just 1 50 calorie Quality St!! It's soul destroying infact!X

That last bit is always hard to lose & it is easy to lose focus....but you have a goal Heather...your birthday! Buy yourself a LBD, slightly too small & go for it!!! After losing 5 stone, 1 stone is a piece of wee wee!!! x

That's a good idea Kim, I think I will get a LBD one size too small for me!! Thanks for the vote of confidence! Well it's 4 stone and a bit so far, with 1 more to go!X

Just got back from WI and STS this week!! After a bad 3 days that's really not so bad afterall!! I will have to be careful this week however as these things can catch up with one!! I have a meal with friends on Saturday night but I'm going to keep my syns to a min all week to try and reduce the damage and will try my very best to be good on Saturday too! I'll be gutted if I don't see good results next week as still have 4lb to go to get back to pre Chrimbo weight!!X
