Half marathon training

No the nerves don't get better lol I remember being stood in the crowds with about a million butterflies in my stomach but as soon as the gun went off I set my music & I was fine, just like a normal training run with the exception of a few thousand people! LOL

If you're travelling don't forget your trainers!!!
People do lol
Xx

I had to cut my run short tonight as the muscle along the bottom of my foot was hurting, akin to plantar fasciitis :-( I've now stretched and massaged and will continue to do so until the last minute so fingers crossed it will be okay.

Trouble is I've now done 1.6 miles less than the training plan this week and depending on how my foot is tomorrow, I might lose another 2 miles so a bit concerned it will make Sunday that much more difficult.

i have bought my running things at last! hand held water bottle- the kind with a hole in the middle to grip, ipod arm band, and some running socks :D yay!

i cant run without music and i wont go into a run without a drink, so holding both ipod and water bottle wont be any good! got them all quite cheap too, from sports direct :)

You know what hun, its wednesday and if I had a half marathon on sunday today would have been my last run and I would have done just 2miles. You might be better, especially with a bit of a twinge in your foot to now rest completely until sunday. Youre legs will be nice and fresh and ready to run those 13.1miles! :D

Whatever you do, make sure you look after that foot! :) xx

Coach: I wouldn't worry about that last run, my last one was yesterday. You have done enough training wise. Hope your foot is a bit better, think rest is probably needed. It's not great timing, but you still have a few days to sort it.

I had a really bad run yesterday (treadmill). I had only gone a mile when I had to stop to take out one of my inner soles (special moulded ones) as it was causing discomfort. Felt much better for the next two miles. But later on my calves and knee started hurting, lasted most of the day and have woken up with this morning. Not sure if my gait changed taking out the inner sole. Not sure if I should run with or without on the inner sole on Sunday now!!

But the plan says to do a 2 mile run today. After not doing any running between my 8 mile and 9 mile runs and the 9 mile run being mega difficult, I'm worried that Sunday will be difficult if I don't put the miles in.

Oh Shazzabir, I don't know what to suggest. I guess go with what is comfortable for the run and deal with any problems afterwards?

Arrrggggh!!!! I hope all is well for both of us :)

But running may make your injury worse Coach. What mileage did you get to, was it 10 or 11 miles? That's the run that counts. I'm sure the adrenaline on the day will push us so much more than a normal training day. We have both done enough training, now should be time to rest. We can both do this!!!!

I guess my problem is changing trainers so late in the day. I think I am going to start wearing the inner sole, then if it gets uncomfortable then I will have to take it out and hope it doesn't make too much difference to my gait. Also yesterdays run was on a treadmill, so maybe completely different outside. I am not to concerned about the pain at the moment, I'm sure it will be gone by Sunday. Well it had better had, I shall be running regardless!!!!!!

Cannot believe we are both having problems this close to the day!! I suppose it could be worse, it could have happened closer to the day, least we have a few days to rest. :)

Yeah I guess your right Shazz. Makes sense to start off wearing your insole.

I can't believe we are having trouble either!!! Okay, I shall rest now, its not as if I haven't done any running this week. I got up to 11 miles. I'm wearing my trainers at work today and tomorrow as my foot is made worse with flat shoes.

Oh god, it seems unreal that we will be doing it!!!!

11 miles is great, you'll be more than ready.
Good idea wearing your trainers. I sometimes have to be careful not to wear shoes with a big heel, as my knee can play up. Might be taking your advice now :)

Yes cannot believe it is so close now. Scary!!

You'll be fine only having run 11 miles. That was my longest run before my first half and the crowds will pull you through the last 2.1miles :)

Good luck you two I can't wait to hear how you both did. Xx

Hey girls. I've been out of action for a bit, and so sadly won't be doing the half marathon on Sunday. Am gutted but I'll get back on track and do another hopefully later in the year.

Anyway, I just wanted to wish you all luck for Sunday. Hope it goes well, I'll look forward to reading all about it and living it vicariously through you xxx
