Helen's quest for good health!

Hi all, been a busy bee again, hope everyone's okay, been on plan except after weigh in when I had a few treats, low syn snacks but quite a few of them.. Binge alert!

Lost 1lb this week so really happy still that the weight seems to be coming off after the horrendous year last year.

If anyone likes spicy food I can recommend Jamie Olivers Jerk Chicken, without using oil it works out at 4.0 syns a portion but lovely x

Also I've just posted a thread about it but can anyone help me come up with a list of low syn/free ready prepared meals as my friend is struggling to find the time to cook.

For example chickpea Dahl, lamb shanks in minted gravy (if they're still free).. Any ideas guys? X

Batchelors pasta and sauce
Mug shots
Batchelor rice
Sains do frozen chicken breasts that you can cook from frozen. Could do that that with microwave veg- minimal work
Sains vegetarian ravioli (in tin)

Wil keep thinking...

Well done on the loss x

Ready meals? I can't help as we make most if our stuff. Could your friend batch cook? Other than that there's always mug shots etc?!

Mmm batch cooking, sore point.. She says she doesn't have time! I'm so determined for her to start losing that I've said she can pop in mine when I'm not there this week and grab one of the meals that I've got in my freezer.. They keep getting takeaways!

I've said she should only do sw if she's ready as her head doesn't sound like it's in the right place but she said she really wants to and all it is is lack of time x

Sounds like she's not ready to me :(

That's exactly what I think, I even said to her it's a waste of money going as well, she hasn't been for 2 weeks but will have to back pay as hasn't let the C know, I don't want to nag her but she says she wants to do it. I'm doing everything I can to help her but it's getting quite tiring, I'm trying this prepared meals thing to give her a list.. Hope it works as not sure what I'll do after!

Problem is last year she was losing and still eating loads of kebabs etc. This year it doesn't seem to be happening, she has put on about a stone since beginning of December x

You're doing you're best but if she's not 'there' yet she won't do it. I couldn't until I was ready.

Well done on continuing with the losses Helen. Woo! Your friend is not clearly not ready. That sounds harsh but anyone can say they want to but then make excuses, just the same as anyone can knuckle down and make it work. Focus on yourself as a priority. It's kind of you to want to help but don't let it wear you out, you can't do it for her. However. You showing you can make it work for you and making progress could be enough motivation for her x

concentrate on you - when the time is right she will be able to do it
well done on the loss - doesnt matter how it happens - but you must be doing something right :)

I was the same, your head has to be in the right place.. She keeps insisting it is!

She's due to be a bridesmaid for her sister and the other bridesmaid is an ex Calvin Klein underwear model.. Her mum says the only chance she'll have is if this girl gets pregnant else she's got no chance! Cruel thing to say as I think she looks lovely already.

So really I think it's pressure, I struggled to lose weight for our wedding, maybe if she just took each day as it came she'd get on better x

I know I'm going to be selfish and think of myself, I'm going to take the free food directory and a few ideas around to her and then that's it x

I didn't lose any weight for our wedding. None. If anything I put on! My mind just wasn't ready until 2011 when I joined SW! I keep comparing it to alcoholism of addiction but you have to be the one to want it. Nobody can help you want it.

Well done trying to help her but you have your own journey (hate that term usually but it kinda fits here) to worry about x

Tried to get on here yesterday at work as had a shadow and some free time but it wasn't a nice day at work, the atmosphere was awful, a few people are being threatened with disciplineries as they failed a test, it was so horrible, people were really upset and one managers man management skills aren't up to scratch which made it worse!

I then got a gripy tummy and had to run to the loo a few times, then driving home I wanted to cry as I was too scared to pass wind in case that wasn't all and been there before.. At least I have leather seats these days!!

Woke up this morning and still feel quite delicate, I wasn't sure if it was the fruit I ate or the coffee affecting my IBS but haven't had a flare up for ages apart from after that kfc a few weeks ago so not sure x

The journey bit always sounds corny doesn't it but find myself using it a lot when talking about weight loss!!

I think you, me and Emma were all the same with our weddings, I look at the photos now and wish I had lost weight though! X
