Help needed for 1st day......

good thinking batman! lol

i totally waste a chicken when i cook it...cos i only take off the breast meat - nothing else!

chicken's done and ready for the boys tonight, i'm gonna have the quorn chilli, prepared some for tomorrow's lunch and have 2 lots for the freezer...not bad for half the packet of quorn mince!

i made fruit salad earlier for breakfast but ended up picking at bits and bobs as i was cooking so going to have that with scan bran cake when i feel hungry (in the next wee while) then prob not much else before WI.

got the benefit bars from aldi to try so will take one of those with me - ended up getting 7 in the packet instead of 6 - love it when that happens (just hope they're good lol) and the weird thing was, i bought 2 of the small selection boxes on fri, i wanted the fun size crunchies and curly wurly & was putting the chomp, fudge & buttons in my wee one's goody box and one of them had 2 packets of buttons instead of 1 ;)

still need to make the lunches for them tomorrow...ran out of bread so my OH's on route home with a loaf just now but once they're sorted, i reckon i've done a no-bad shift when it comes to food preparation today..all in all i've made quiche, dahl loaf, hummus, rice pudding, boiled eggs, chilli and a chicken AND managed to watch 2 episodes of Hollyoaks which i had recorded from the end of last week....not bad at all miss k lol

i've never seen extra lean mince in aldi, i always look but haven't come across it otherwise i'd def get some to try.
i noticed in asda yest that the small pack had gone up to £2.50. i picked up the big one (500g) for £4 then got home and realised it was only 420g!
buying stuff like this all the time, i've noticed that the prices have gone up on different things in the months that i've done the plan....no wonder the UK is battling an obesity epidemic....it's cheaper to eat sh1t!x

My friend at work is the same as you with chicken - so I have told her to bring the rest in for me to use lol. I will chuck it in a curry or in soups...MUCH better than it going in the bin!!

How was the quorn mince in the end? I have been debating on trying some quorn but if i did quorn mince it means i would have to cook two dinners as bf would not eat quorn in a million years lol. Think I will start out with some sausages or something like that first to give it a try when we go shopping to fill up the freezer.

You have had some good luck with overfilled packets recently!! Send some luck my way please lol. I need to go to Aldi but dont think I will get chance til the weekend....although that gives us a bit more time to eat the freezer down. I checked this morning and what I have left to eat is;

Lamb chops (to be eaten tonight)
Pork chops
Whole chicken (To be eaten sat/sun and for soup)
Linda McCartney 'sausages' x 3
Beef Whirls (spiced mince things that are prob very unhealthy but need to go!)
Basa fillets (white fish)
Sardines
Bread rolls
One portion chilli (will do for lunch one day)
One portion curry (again - lunch one day)
Vegetables
Rocket lollies (for my nieces)

So by next week I should be all empty!! I'm not fussed about using up the veggies as I know we will use them. So next weekend I will defrost the thing and start again :)

I ended up making BNS and plum tomato risotto last night - for work thursday but I had a portion for dinner as I was on a red day. Bf used up his salmon so we are on track lol. Tonight is lamb chops - think I will do a mini roast but I wont have potato as I am on a red day. I have some carrots, parsnips, onion, red pepper and BNS that I can roast for myself and bf - he can have potatoes as extra - and then some broccolli or something. Nice dinner full of veggies!

I have soup for lunch again with hexb bread, fruit and yoghurt (and crisps of course). Whats on your menu today?

hey mrs...

your freezer doesn't look that empty lol, but now that you have a list, it'll be easier to plan round that to get it used up.
can you not give your OH some of the stuff that aren't too sw friendly? i give my OH something different when i'm on green days...that's usually the time he gets things like pies/pastries and generally just processed stuff lol.

the benefit bars were gross! not my cup of tea and i def won't be buying them again....extra one or not, i didn't think it was a patch on an alpen light :(

the quorn chilli was good...i had it with baked potato for dinner last night and cold with rice today.
i haven't tried the sausages but didn't like them yrs ago although i'm not sure if they've changed?

i only tried the chicken pieces a wee while ago and i really like them...they're great on a green day but i think you're allowed quorn on all plans eh?

today is green, had magic porridge and some fruit, the chilli at lunch & had taken some hummus with me along with carrot sticks and 2 ryvita but i didn't have that so still have HEb which i might use on a wm roll (i'm sure i have a deformed frozen one somewhere lol) as i got quorn burgers to try (they're from the chilled section and are free according to the sw website)...not sure though.

how was the risotto...sounds nice but you know me and BNS...just too much effort lol.

think i'll need to take the frozen portion of mac and cheese for lunch tomorrow as the bread i sent my OH to get yesterday ended up being a 50/50 loaf so a sandwich is out of the equation for me.
hardly ever have a sandwich these days!

WI was a b1tch...1lb on??? i mean...wtf??
i had a great week last week, really enjoyed my food all week, had salad a couple of times and was feeling good about it cos it's been a while since i had a proper salad and i was under my syns as usual so i really expected a loss!
i'm the same weight as i was 2 months ago and looking at my book, it's been up and down so really hoping that maybe it's just a blip and once i get past a certain bit, maybe it'll all come together?
not gonna stress about it but i was in the huff last night lol.

had a packet of cheese and onion crisps for 8.5 syns last night and 1 chocolate for 2 so pleased to say i didn't just do what a lot of people would and go off the rails due to my huff!

aww well eh...onwards and downwards!x

Well my freezer certainly looks more bare than normal - im starting to get twitchy about not having food in....to the point that i nearly text bf and insisted that we head to Aldi tonight when he picks me up to get the super 6 and some meat. Today is the last day of this lot of super 6 - but looking at it, there is always cheap meat and veg there so i decided to stop meing a maniac and just let it go for another week! lol.

I was thinking of making bf have the beef whirls while i had Linda Mc sausages and have them both with mash and gravy...that will stop me having the whirls which i shouldnt have!! Bf generally has 'fat' sausages while I have NuMe or Linda Mc ones but I dont feel like I'm missing out by having them tbh. Every now and then I will have a 'proper' sausage but I dont miss it that much. the one thing I do really miss is pastry....I love pastry lol. The sheets of jusrol that you can buy are awesome - think its about 10 syns per sheet or something like that though.

ahh its a shame you dont like the benefit bars - will the kids or OH eat them? Im normally pretty fussy with cereal bars - they have to be chocolate or nothing as im not a huge fan of dried fruit. Luckily though i tried the strawberry benefit bars and did really like it so i shall stock up on those next weekend too! Do you like the hi-fi bars? They are prob cheaper than alpen?!

I will def give the quorn chicken pieces a try sinc eyou really like them - its always good to have an option like that for a green day to save you having to cook 2 different dinners. The BNS squash risotto was really really yummy :) I think you should give it another try - pop it in the microwave for a few mins before you try to peel it and see how you get on. (Saying that i was too impatient yesterday and broke a knife trying to cut it haha - luckily an old one though!!)

Mmmmm - your dinner sounds tasty! I'm getting really hungry now but have to work late again (one hour max today so not too bad)

ARGH how annoying about WI for you hun. You really arent going through a good time atm are you with the plan. I do know lots of people that get 'stuck' and you just have to keep going and one week it will all start moving again. Have you thought about doing a few red days? Or success express? This might get things moving a bit - or dare i say it......exercise?!?! (YUK). The advice I have always read when someone is finding it hard is to read over your books again, make sure you are weighing everything (including hex) and write a food diary to make sure you havent developed any habits that might be hindering you.

I think you are right not to stress "it is what it is" as you say...just keep swimming (as Dory would say haha) I think you did really well to control yourself and still have your treat but not fall off the wagon. :)

i didn't see the strawberry benefit bars....they might be better?
it was the apple ones i got...yuk! lol

i get what you mean about feeling twitchy...i pretty much have a stock pile of stuff, and continue to buy things when they're on offer even though we don't really need them. i know it makes sense to get stuff when it's cheaper but there are times when i would get away with leaving them out...i dunno what we're frightened of...a mass blackout where we're suddenly going to need this food, drink, soap powder etc lol.

i write my food down as well as post it on a diary here. i weigh all my HE's out or make sure i'm having the right amount of things i should be (ie ryvita, babybel etc) and for the last wee while, i tend to do a red day the day before WI cos that's the easiest day unless i'm off work and able to plan properly what i'm gonna have.
i dunno, it could be a number of things but i was just so surprised cos i sooo never expected that.

i've booked a holiday from class next week cos i'm not sure i can make it but i said if i could, i'd be there so it would just over-ride what she put through. i'd rather do that and not be charged for it and i'll be there if i can...it's not just a case of "I'm going awol so i won't go"

i tend to get tesco extra light sausages which are 0.5 a syn each. i don't really feel i'm missing out but i found 2 steak link sausages in the freezer the other day so i had those on sunday (when i did my red day) and just counted a couple of syns for them. they were super yummy!
when i make my OH a sausage sandwich, if he's getting it on white bread i'm like mmmmmm i want a bite! lol.

i have a meal out this weekend for my friend's hen do and another meal with friend's planned in oct. it's my OH's bday in nov and seeing as i literally have had no social life since i started the plan (to avoid going over in syns) i'd decided i'm just going to enjoy them, not go over board but not give myself grief.
ideally, i want to lose a bit more so that i can have a gain at xmas time.

it's weird cos the thought of xmas dinner isn't as appealing for me this year. i think it's cos we eat such nice meals the rest of the time that the real treat for me would be not to have to cook.
infact, the real treat for me would be junk...things like white rolls on cold meat, crisps, cakes etc...the stuff we avoid like the plague lol.

i can see how people could stay on plan over xmas (minus alcohol) cos you can do a roast no probs syn free but if i make the decision to go off plan, then that's the kind of stuff i want. my OH looked at me like i was crazy when i was speaking about it the other day...i was like i want salt & vinegar roasted peanuts, a snowball from morrisons, cold meat from the butchers, lurpack etc...you better believe if i'm taking half a stone gain for a few days off plan then i want what i enjoy lol.
just need to wait and see but i'll have all of the above at some point....and it might be better to get them all out the way at the one time???

the burgers i have are quorn, beef style with sweet red onion and i have one cooking just now. froze the other one so will see how it is. my OH's getting a steak & haggis pie....hope it's horrible pmsl...aaah the jealousy ;) x

Yeah the strawberry ones are quite nice actually so give them a try when you next go. They must be ok if I like them lol.

I just don't like not having food in - or not having options at least. I guess this is sort of like therapy and will prob be good for me lol.

Are you feeling any better today?! I think the holiday from class is a good idea just in case you need it. Will they still count it as holiday if you manage to get there?

It's nice to see you enjoying yourself and having some treats planned. I think you will be fine if you just have a good time and get straight back on plan afterwards - just don't let it slip! I cannot wait to indulge over Xmas - although I think it will be more booze than food hahaha! I'm looking forward to cheese and biscuits and pate. Mmmmmmm!!!!!

I am really proud of myself today. I had an away day with my division at work and we all have to bring a food contribution. My team was in charge of cakes, biscuits and fruit and the others brought things like bread, cheese, ham, crisps, dips, salad etc.......so this is what I ate for the whole day; (green day)

Brekkie: apple, nectarine and muller light
Lunch: WM pitta (hexb) lettuce, ham, cheese (hexa), cherry toms, carrot sticks, apple
Snacks: small skinny latte (hexa), little cake (7 syns), grapes, tiny bit of French stick with a forkful of pate (counting this as the rest of my syns for the day)

Not bad eh?! ;)

Worked late and on the train home now so
I'm gonna make some egg on toast (hexb) for dinner. :)

your food sounds great for the day :)
well done on resisting the rest...(how yummy was the bread & pate?? lol)

can't beat egg on toast...i like poached egg and sometimes have beans with it too.
not like you to do a green day - have you enjoyed it?

poor you having to work late again, when will you get some time to yourself? you got any days off booked before xmas?

re the hol from class, i just booked it cos i'm not 100% sure i can make it, she said if i can, it'll just over-ride the booking so that's quite good...wouldn't want to waste it and i'll be there if i can x

I love egg on toast with really crispy bacon mmmmm lol. I didn't end up with that for dinner though lol. I had a mugshot and 2 slices of bread to dip in it. Lol. Yeah I don't mind green days now - it's easy to do if I can just cook for myself and not both of us.

Hopefully after this week there will be no more overtime horaaaaaayyyyy!! Lol. I will miss the money but it will be nice to have my life back to keep on top of my cleaning, ironing and maybe get some exercise in. I've booked two days of end of October (one day will be babysitting for my nieces) and will be off from 18 December to 2nd jan so that will be a nice break :)

I've got two - they are 8 and 3 :) love them to pieces.

Today is another green day. I've got butternut squash risotto for dinner for me and the girl I do overtime with. Cereal for brekkie and soup for lunch.

Feeling really rubbish today - I'm so tired I can barely keep my eyes open already but tonight will be a late one. :(

I have so much to do at home today as well when I finish as I have someone coming to stay tomorrow night and I need to sort the spare room out and do the washing up. Hopefully I can get bf to help but he seems to be in a strop this morning so who knows. I don't want to be up til midnight doing it all!!

what's he in a strop about?
i'm shattered this morning too...i saw every hour last night and kept falling asleep, waking up thinking i'd slept for ages and it had only been 20 mins?! grrr

green again for me today too, i've just taken a quorn peppered steak out the freezer while i remember so i can have that tonight with some potatoes and veg maybe? at least i remembered lol

what a shame that you have a busy day...food sounds good though and hopefully it'll be a quick one for you x

prob just tired and stressed about money (always a struggle recently *sigh*)

Hopefully he will have cheered up by the time i speak to him later and he will help me out a bit.

I slept ok - woke up once at about 12:20 and then straight back to sleep. I think its just all ths overtime and now that its nearly over my body just wants to stop lol. Hoping I can get bf to stay at his dad's on saturday night so i wont be disturbed sunday morning when he goes to football and I can get an extra hour or so's kip!

how you feeling now?
work was manic for me and i'm glad to be home, still got a few things to get done so better not stay on here too long lol

hungry day for me today..i ended up eating my emergency mugshot which has been in my drawer for ages at work...aww well, at least it was on plan ;) x

Well done for staying on plan. (Better replace that mugshot just in case lol)

I'm not feeling great at the moment. Money worries getting me down and making me and bf fight a bit (being tired also contributing to this) but thankfully it's payday on Monday. Can't come soon enough.

I've got the last of my soup for lunch today but didn't bring anything else as I was in a rush. Need to try and find time to do more cooking this weekend. Having the soup has been a godsend really.

aww sorry to hear that chick...i can TOTALLY relate to that and feel for you!
we've had a rough few months but it's like walking on egg shells when anything about money is mentioned and it does my head in!

i could've slept on this morning, but needs must eh!

didn't get my dinner til late last night so prob good that i'd had the mugshot when i wouldn't usually cos i wasn't overly hungry when i got home & then never ate till later....funny how it all balances out sometimes eh.

just had a look at aldi's super 6 ...here ya go ;) x

https://www.aldi.co.uk/en/product-range/fresh-bakery/this-weeks-latest-super-6-offers/

Thanks hun. Ill def be getting the potatoes, mushrooms and apples. The meat offers don't seem as good as last week but I didn't go last week to prove to myself that I don't need to food shop all the time hahaha.

One more week to go then it's defrost and shopping time! I'm going to try and be a bit smarter with my food shopping to save some money. I think if I meal plan a bit more it will be easier to stick to a list - and if I'm not eating it this week then I don't need to buy it yet! I need to try and break this cycle that leaves me skint all the time!

Now I'm in a bad mood and want a croissant for breakfast lol. Must resist!!!!! I'm going to buy some fruit and yoghurt instead lol. What's your food plan today?

aww why are you in a bad mood?
croissant won't take that away...it'll prob add to it cos you'll be p'd off at yourself for giving in...don't do it don't do it don't do it lol

plan today is EE, chicken out for dinner although i'm not sure what i'll do with it.
i got the pineapple and pears but got other mushrooms cos it was a bigger tub for 10p more

gonna have subway salad today too....i love them! i know we can make the same ourself but it just tastes so fresh and a wee drizzle of sweet onion dressing is 2 syns. sometimes i add more chicken or some dahl loaf to it too...yum!

i think aldi's chicken breast packs are worth it - you get 5 or 6 for £6 odd so that's a few meals sorted too.

hope you're ok toots :) x

I'm just grumpy because a) I'm tired, b) I'm skint and c) me and bf are arguing about a) and b) lol. I'm also feeling a bit bloated and yuk at the moment. Its just a phase and after a weekend where I am not rushing about so much I will feel better. Plus I will have had a chance to do some cooking and get ready for next week.

How about making some SW coleslaw and doing SW chips with the chicken? You could even give the SW 'KFC' a go for a naughty tasting dinner without actually being bad! My friend is cooking tonight and making a bean chilli as far as I know (not a SW recipe but will be healthy enough I reckon).

Had a really good meeting at work this morning so today hasnt been as much of a chore as the rest of the week has been - and its only 2 hours til home time lol!

How has your day been?

there you go...not long til home time ;)

it's hard when things are like that...and worse when we're feeling sh1t about stuff ourself too.
it'll all sort itself out i'm sure but it's the getting to that part that's tough.

still haven't decided about dinner, i'll see what the OH fancies when he gets home

hope you enjoy your dinner...bonus that it's being made for ya ;) x
