It's Now Or Never

Ah bless you girls. Sorry it's all been so crazy here - my run of bad luck continued. So much so I was starting to feel a bit paranoid. Lol. Anyhoo, I'm determined to have a fresh start. Am still hobbling and seeing physio but am determined to get sorted and get back out running. In the meantime, swimming and cycling will be the order of the day.

Weight - I dread to think, and that's no exaggeration either. WI tonight. Won't strictly be starting till NYD but tonight's WI will be my official starting point. I've asked my consultant to reset it to whatever it reads on the system too. Otherwise I would need to lose about two stone to lose my first half stone if that makes any sense.

I know WI will be horrific but I'm resigned to that and full of enthusiasm. I turn 40 next Dec so I want to make some real inroads to healthiness in the next year!
Will keep you posted - and thank you for remembering me! Xxx

Ah chica - it's lovely to hear from you. 2012 has not been a good year for you, has it? So let's hope that 2013

Was that ankle of yours really only sprained? It seems to be taking an awful long time to heal. Did it ever get X-rayed? There may be a small bone broken somewhere that is stopping things get back to normal. I once "sprained" my ankle - I just stood up from sitting crosslegged on the floor and it gave way. It was so painful but I just strapped it up (I used to sprain my ankles a lot when doing my gymnastics) and thought no more about it. Until 2 days later when I couldn't put my foot to the floor - so I went and had it X-rayed and lo and behold I'd cracked the fibula right by the ankle joint.

What does the physio reckon?

Hey Pomette - yes I guess it has been a challenging year one way or the other hey? As for the ankle I did get it x-rayed at the time as it didn't feel like a normal sprain - but nothing broken. The physio says the muscles, tendons and ligaments have all become very tense where they were trying to counter work against the sprain. My own fault for keep walking on it when I should have had it rested I guess. Buggered if I was sitting on my bum whilst in Berlin though. No matter - I am determined I will keep at the physio and eventually it will get there. I'm hoping cycling will help.

Anyhoo, I weighed in - back up to 17st 3lbs! Horrendous - but I've asked my C to set this as my start weight. I'm going to start proper on New Years Day (with a nice SW style cooked breakfast I might add) :). I've been thinking back to what worked for me last year when I got all that weight off, and am trying to replicate that. Canning the booze is up there - so anything left over after NYE will be put in the garage (ready for next year, so a nice cheap Christmas lol). I will of course be a good girl and keep in touch on here, boring you all rigid with my food etc.

Am currently watching Mamma Mia on DVD (caught the tail end on the box and it put me in the mood). Haven't watched it in years, forgot how much fun it was. Plus it has Peirce and Colin in - two of my yummiest men, nom nom nom. So back to the box, and back to planning my SW moves for the week.

Take care honey! Mwah! x

OK so today's food. Crumbled a little bit - but I've syned it all...

Breakfast:
Branflakes (HEb), grapes, cranberries, blueberries and shape 0 yoghurt.

Lunch:
Chilli (beef mince, carrots, onions, peppers, tomatoes, brown rice, topped with 30g grated cheddar (HEa)).

Snacks:
6 slices of chocolate orange (14 syns)
Fizzy sweets (9 syns)

Total syns (23 - so 8 over).

Not fabulous, but no alcofrol today - first day in weeks I think so that is not a bad achievement in itself, and I have still eaten loads less than I usually would.

Tomorrow when the bairn gets some choccy out, I will remember that like cigarettes (6 months nearly now!) I can't have just a little bit, it will kick off a chain reaction of naughtiness. Right now I just need to be very good and have to be very careful about how I use my syns. Allowing syn friendly treats whilst avoiding trigger foods! Eek!

Tomorrow I have my Nan coming over for lunch (yes Miniminers, those who remember me from a year or so back, the same Nan that was at death's door for several weeks). She's still going strong, and will be driving herself over. So I need to do something for lunch that will suit her 'plain' tastes but is SW friendly. I have some chicken out, and am thinking a kind of chicken and vegetable casserole served with new potatoes. I have chicken, onions, carrots, ummmm - ok not the tastiest sounding casserole then. Will have to think that one through I think. Either way I'm determined for it to be SW friendly. No doubt she will want pudding too, but she will have to make do with either mince pies, mince pie ice cream (it's bloody gorgeous and I won't be touching it with a barge pole), or fruit and yoghurt. Will be lovely to have her over though - always end up playing games: monopoly and the like. At 87, I fear there won't be too many more opportunities to spend time with her.

Anyhoo, first day down. Didn't stay within syn limit, but I've been honest and I haven't drunk alcofrol (bit worried that one day teetotal is evidently such an achievement!) lol

Roll on tomorrow. Happy SWing all xx

Happy New Year chica.
Day 1 done and dusted. Ok a few too many syns but a great start so no beating yourself up.
Have you got any swede as well? I alwasy find it makes chicken casserole taste so much better - adds a sweetness to it. A dash of Worcester sauce helps too - but not enough to make it taste of the stuff if you know what I mean. Or maybe add a tin of tomatoes and some Italian herbs to liven it up a bit.

Lunch was all good - no swede, but made it with chicken, onions, mushrooms, carrots, leeks, new potatoes and sauce made from water, chicken bovril and veggie oxo cubes. My Nan seemed to enjoy it - and I even had a mince pie to offer her after wards (which I joined her with as it seemed a bit mean to let her sit there and eat by herself - the bairn had sodded off to kick a ball round the back garden at this stage). 13 syns gone in one little pie - but hey ho.

Gone 2 syns over today (damn those tree chocolates) and haven't had all my Healthy Extras. So not ideal - but on the otherhand, another day off the christmas booze, and I was mostly to plan, and again generally ate much, much less than I have done of late.

Today's food....

Breakfast:
Skipped :-( (was too busy cleaning up for my Nan's visit)

Lunch:
Chicken breast, leeks, onions, mushrooms and new potatoes, sauce made with veggie oxo and chicken bovril.
Mince pie (13 syns)

Tea:
Had a bowlful of left overs from lunch.

Snack:
2 tree chocolates (4 syns)

Total syns: 17

Another reason I am not going to beat myself up here, is that my C told me I could go up to 20 syns if I wanted to whilst I am over 15 stone. I might do this, if only for the first week, so that I don't mentally feel like I am failing if I do go over 15. I will aim for 15 though as I want to tackle this weight. I do have about 6 stone to lose after all, and I have to start somewhere.

I think skipping breakfast (not usual for me) didn't help. Plus I need to deal with food in the house that I shouldn't be eating in huge quantities without eating it in huge quantities. Evening's seem to be a danger point for me. So that's something for me to watch out for and think of some coping strategies. I do really think that saving my syns for the evening might be a good plan there. Then at least if I do have a few little chocs, I'll still be within my allowance.

Plan for tomorrow:

1) Eat breakfast
2) Ham and mushroom omelette with salad for lunch
3) Tea sausages, onion gravy, mash - with sprouts and cabbage.

That lot will all be syn free, meaning I have syns available for the evening if I fancy any chocs that are knocking about. Ha, I'll have this sorted by Monday's weigh in.

Am currently watching Gok's style secrets. He is now offering dating advice too, dear Lord! That said, I like the two outfits that he's given the girl so far, very much the sort of style I'd like. Food to think about for when I ever get all this sodding lard off (avoid chocs, avoid chocs!) :)

Oh Gok has now gone in as 'wing man' for this poor girl - I'd have run a mile by now (which is why I'm still single after nearly 7 years of course lol)

Toodlepip all - welcome back MissF and thank you WG and El Pomette! xxxx

. . . and haven't had all my Healthy Extras.
Now if you'd had it as a RED day - the spuds would have been a HexB - so you're just missing a HexA. Did you have any cream with the mince pie? I'm sure this could be classed as a naughty hexA :8855:At least you'd get the calcium.

I think it's an excellent idea to allow yourself up to 20 for a couple of weeks if necessary to get back into the swing of things. The less guilt there is surrounding getting back on plan the better.

My coping strategy was exactly that. Keep the syns for evening for a naughty V&DC (or 3).
Plus in the early days I always had a big bowl of fresh fruit salad in the fridge. I used to make enough to last 3 days and put apple juice and water in to keep it from going brown. Ok there's syns in the apple juice - it worked out at about 2 per bowl full in the proportions I was using - but it meant I had an instant source of virtually syn free snack on hand when I needed it. I enjoyed it more than just grabbing a piece of fruit as I always put melon and pineapple in as they are my favourite fruits and melon is a great speedy fruit.

No cream with the mince pie no - but I'm not going to lose sleep over lack of HEa just now.
Yes the more I think about it, those extra few syns really help with the mindset - and I guess there have to be some bonuses to being such a lard bucket! ;-)

Today's food....

Breakfast:
None - we didn't wake until nearly 11!!

Lunch:
Low fat supernoodles, 3 egg omelette, salad leaves.

Snacks:
Chocs (8 syns)
Jellybeans (4 syns)
7 roasted chestnuts (HEb)

Dinner:
5 sausages (oops!), a few potatoes, sprouts, cabbage, onion gravy (made with gravy granules - 1.5 syns).

Snack (to have later):
Banana milkshake - banana (5 syns) plus 350ml soya milk (HEa).

Total syns: 18.5 (within my temporary 20 syn limit)

My sake could help fend off the sweet tooth I still have from Christmas too. The sooner these Christmas chocs are out of the way the better . Today we melted a ton of chocolate down and poured into moulds for a chocolate house that I got him from Lakeland for Christmas. This sort of this is right up his street. We will assemble the various parts tomorrow morning - I'll pop a piccy up, but of course I will have to avoid eating the damn thing.

Tomorrow's food is planned-ish - breakfast (looking forward to some branflakes, yoghurt and fruit to be honest), salmon, rice and veggies for lunch. Haven't worked out tea yet mind you. I may take the bairn to the cinema, so perhaps look for somewhere we can get a jacket potato.

I now seem to be able to walk down the stairs relatively normally now, without holding on. I think sitting on my arse for the past fortnight has actually done my ankle some good. What I should have done in the first place I guess, but complete rest is not something that is possible for the majority of people hey, whether it's good for us or not?

Laughing at the bunnies at the moment - the bairn is lying on the floor and they have taken to licking him. I guess they think they are grooming him like another little bunny. Their tongues are so tickly though, so he's in pieces. The boy bunny was even grooming his hair for him ha ha

Im so jealous you have house bunnies :) ive been pestering the OH for ages, but he reminds me we like holidays and going away and we have no one to look after them. Yours look so cute :)

They are double cute I must admit. They are about 6 months old now, and the first time I've ever had them - they are also the boy's first pets. They live in a 5 ft cage in the front room when we're out, or asleep. The rest of the time they roam free. They are generally litter trained - but can be forgetful, but learn quickly when reminded. The girl is definitely a lot more outgoing than the boy. She needs to be neutered (for her health in the future, he's already been done) - but was very, very poorly a month back and so we'll have to defer the op till her weight is more sensible. They are lovely though, and have fur that's as soft as a kittens. If you give them some food to share - a treat, or some carrot - they are hilarious, nicking it off each other and lolloping around the place with it. They have funny little runs, and hold their heads in the air when they're carrying something. They do make me chuckle.

She is now on his feet (mad cow). She has a salt lick in the cage but she seems to prefer licking him - so I can only assume it is affection/grooming. Oh, she's back up to investigate his ipod now.....

One of our cats adores licking your feet. And boy oh boy does it tickle!

No sooner do I say - oh they're pretty well litter trained, one of them has a piddle on the rug.

Sod's law hey!? :)
Deffo rule of the sod! Or perhaps Murphy's law?
I'm off to bed now so speak again tomorrow.
Thanks for your support chica, it is really appreciated :)

Argh a lb on. Though I did crumble a bit. I'm back at work today which will really help I think. Off up to Coventry complete with a bag of food. I'm going to give Success Express a bash for a week. Same as EE but the ratio is 2:1 superfree to free, plus double HEb and count the higher syn values. Gonna carry on with a 20 syn allowance for a bit as well.

Am shattered as I've had two really bad night's sleep. Hopefully get a 20 power nap on train to Cov.
