Jim's lazy Atkins diary

Morning all, well I suppose it keeps them quiet Moony

They certainly look engrossed Jim. It's a long way from the camping I remember (and stiil go now!) Now, where did I put that dynamo wind up radio?

Morning all, it's a beautiful day here. :) I just might get some garden time in.

Morning Jim, yes beautiful weather here too. Lets hope it stays for t he weekend :)

That's not the camping I remember either Jim - you can even do "Glamping" now with all the mod cons. When I used to camp "all the mod cons" sometimes meant one toilet and a rundimentary shower - very different now. It did get better towards the end of my camping era but it was still quite basic x

We rigged up our own 'shower' in our caravan awning for a while. It was one of those hand pump large garden fertiliser spray kits with a shower head 'grafted' on to it, and we stood in a paddling pool, with the shower curtain all round it. Two kettles of boiling water from the gas ring, and one of cold. Pump up the water by hand, shower for a bit, pump up the water again, shower a bit more, empty the paddling pool - Bob's your uncle! Aah, happy days!

I remember staying in a field owned by an old sheep farmer in the summer of 76 - one standpipe, 1 toilet and a shower that was only unlocked in the morning, when the old chap sat outside collecting the 50ps from each person. OH and I asked if we could shower together to save water - he thought about it and said "That'll be £1" - we thought about it and said "We'll go separate then". We didn't have much choice as it was August in the hottest summer on record and all the proper campsites were full. It was so scary at night over in the farmyard (where the loo was) that if we wanted the loo we got in the car and drove 3/4 mile down the road to the public toilet. I was 3 months pregnant at the time and seemed to need the loo around 3am - those were the days indeed x

Morning all, another beautiful day out there. LOL @ the camping memories, pretty much in line with how I remember it as well.

Luvverly here too Jim - Mr Sun has definitely got his hat on today x

Afternoon Jim. My only addition to the standard camping kit was a porta potti placed in the corner of the big 'ol ridge tent with a sheet strung across for privacy (vision not sound lol) With 3 kids aged between 2 and 12 I would have been on toilet escort all night long!

Morning all, another lovely day, what's going wrong :O

Good idea Lisa, we never thought of that.

Lovely day here too - hmmm.... could get used to this x

Ha ha - when its sunny, we always wonder where the rain is. I left the bench cushion out last night and my first thought this morning was - OMG did it rain in the night - but of course it was ok :giggle: x

Morning all, ah well, nowhere near so nice today, quite cool and cloudy. :(
