Kay's journey to health and happiness

No worries! Thanks for your awesome soup thread. You have put so much work into it! :) so thank you very much! I'm ok. Had a bit of an off plan day yesterday but back on it today. It was my uncles funeral yesterday so a tough day but feeling ok today and good diet wise so fingers crossed weigh in on monday won't be too bad although I'm expecting at least a 2lb gain if not more. But I can hope for no gain haha xxxx

Hey Kirsty, sorry to hear about your uncle. It's understandable that your mind won't be on the plan. Good to hear your back on it today and having a good day. I'm sure you won't have a gain on Monday hun, got my fingers crossed for you ! :p

Thank you. Yes, it was definetely off plan yesterday but back on it today and planned another fast day! So the plan is 500 calories today and then we are going to take a picnic for the drive to the hen do tomorrow. And I was thinking (I'm doing the picnic!) Ham, coleslaw (made with lighter than light mayo!) and salad Pittas, skips, ww cookies, and strawberries and grapes! So nice and healthy for the drive down! Then we will be out for tea on the night. Think we are going to an italian, so I was thinking no starter for me, and then maybe have a tomato based wholewheat pasta dish. No garlic bread or anything, then try and stick to something like vodka and diet coke to drink. I've also said I will drive down! That way it will make me stop drinking at about midnight and go on to water so I'm not over the limit the next day! So thought that was a good plan! Then hopefully not be tempted by a pizza at the end of the night!! And then dinner out about mid dayish on sunday, I will try to keep it relatively healthy then thinking ww, low cal meal on the night. So I'm hoping the weekend won't cause too much damage fingers crossed! Thank Kay, I'll let you know as soon as I weigh in on monday!!! xxx

You sound really focused KMD, I'm sure you will survive the weekend and come back pleasantly surprised on Monday :D. The good thing is if we plan ahead about meals out (like you have done), then the risk to go over is less. And when the scales reward us after having been out, were thrilled and it gives us more confidence to go out and actually have a good time again ! Hope I'm making sense :)

Today at the Gym

Evening everyone :). Well I was planning on going to the gym by myself then my sister rings me and says she's coming along too. I was fine doing my workout but she knows I've been going on and on about how I love the rowing machine so she challenged me to see who burns the most cals in 10 minutes ! Also at stake was whoever losses will pay for our meal out tomorrow. I thought my chances were pretty high since she is 3 stone heavier than me :D. So the battle began :whacky068: :whacky068: . My tactic was to start with a strong lead so I powered away and used up a lot of my energy, she was just behind me but steady, in the last 5 mins she just picked up like she was on fire :eek:, she totally thrashed me ! :rolleyes: Lesson learnt never judge someone's physical fitness based on their size. She may be heavier than me but her fitness level is way higher than mine ! I remember last year we went to The Health and Vitality Exhibition in London Olympia, its a massive annual event with trade experts talking about health and fitness from the Industry. At one of the stands they had this fabby high tech machine which told you lots of stuff like your bone mass index as well as other stuff but most fascinating to me anyway was it calculated your fat vs muscle percentage in your body. We both paid and opted to use their machine and I was amazed at the results ! Her muscle percentage is way higher than me. The lady at the stand said although your sister is heavier, she is more fitter than you, your fat percentage is too high.

I know that during my journey even though I've lost 4 stone a lot of that has been mainly through diet and not exercise. I've restarted again at the gym and hope to change my muscle percentage to a higher figure. It's made me realise that the number on the scale is not important, its your level of fitness that is. I don't regret my journey but if I could change something, I wish I had started exercise earlier on, I would rather be a stone heavier but have a higher fitness level like my sister. She could beat me in any exercise challenge :p.

I do also blame George Michael for losing the challenge ... I had my mp3 player on, and I am used to working out to fast tracks, but somehow while I was powering away some button must have pressed and `Careless Whisper ' went on repeat, who the f**k downloaded that ? :eek: It's no wonder I slowed down !!

I had to take my revenge though, when we got home I was shattered but muscled up all the energy that I had left to give her a bruce lee style kick, she went flying ! Awww sisterly love eh ? :D

Im good thanks Kay - Ive had a better day than yesterday lol - kept low syn because of yesterday. Ive already planned tomorrow, sb cake with fruit for brekkie, leftover lasagne with salad for dinner, and a lamb steak and veg for tea nom nom x

Evening Kathryn :), how did your walk go ? I'm ok thanks, lost a bet to my sister so muggins here is paying for her meal out tomorrow, other than that I'm fine :D. I'm actually looking forward to the meal out tomorrow its Thai food, one of my favs .
