Licking the Lid of Life....my esoteric diary

Love Lisa Stansfield !!!!! x
Keep singing Sam

Me too she has a wonderful voice, she was on Jools Holland NYE programme she looked gorgeous & her voice was still as beautiful;)

It's ok I knew it was woman I was being deliberately thick. I'm a bit of an 80s music connoisseur although google tells me that this was, in fact recorded for her 1991 album.

All the best things came from the 80s (me for example)

;)

No, no, no, LTL, you're mistaken, the best things definitely came out of the 70's! Music, TV shows and ME! ;)

Well I'm early 80s so we can split the difference. ;)

Some things are best left in the 70's. Some of us had to wear the polyester dresses, flares and tank tops! (not to mention the platform shoes)

Okay, besides the platforms and polyester, the decade is definitely the best... for music. :)

Aw, there's some great pictures of us in our home made tank tops, every shade of brown in the rainbow, lol.

I'm wearing a lush red and white polyester dress with a strange scalloped lace trim in one of my school photos, complete with a 'done-by-mum' wonky fringe that went up around my eyes, those were the days... :D

O-k this all predates me by 5-10 years or so. Although I agree that the 70s had some amazing music (clearly it gave us Queen, U2, Bowies best stuff and the Boss to name a few)and some seminal pieces were crafted during that time. But I still maintain that the 80s tipped it. Paul Simons Graceland album was stunning. I feel on that album alone I rest my case!

Ahhhh :D The 70's ..... Playing in the street because hardly anyone had a car, 'sevensies' up against the garage doors, Glam rock, orange net curtains, sherbet dabs and massive gobstoppers, Thatcher, Thatcher, Milk snatcher (and, prior to that, school milk in mini glass bottles), 1/2p sweets (1/2 pence coins!), 'Watch out there's a Humphrey about', the Corona van, Fleetwood Mac at their best, loooong hot summers with the smells of tar and cut grass so thick they were almost visible, Abigail's party and Play for Today, bright blue eye shadow, Grease, Abba, reading Harold Robbins surreptitiously ... and the firm belief that the year 2000 was a lifetime away.

Those were the days :D Thank you Gang for that little trip down memory lane :thankyou:

It's like a whole other language. I got the odd word here and there....Oasis anyone? No? How about some Blur? Ok ok...Take That?

**runs away and hides**

Love Blur, we saw them a couple of times at festivals in the early-mid 90's, fab! :)

Hi sheila

happy Easter to you too. I've had a nice weekend but have eaten far too much. I'm hoping to still meet the April challenge though as I have a few lbs buffer haha.

Are you being good? Xx

Ive had Kathryn (Mrstore) here and her partner Kev since Thursday afternoon, we have been very good mostly, only had 2 meals off plan. Indian on Friday night and chicken kebab last night oops. Aside from that totally on plan - it could have been so much worse and ........... not a drop of alcohol passed our lips x

Well done sounds like you had a lovely time. Did you guys know each other pre-minimins? How lovely to build that kind of friendship :) I'm quite envious of you guys all meeting up oop norf too. Too far for me unfortunately

I ate a lot of chocolate today this weekend was a write off but I have a batch of super speed soup ready already for tomorrow and I'll be scan bran munching. A couple of days won't using it all but it feels like it may right about now!! X
