Looking for a buddy for slimming world. Started 2 days ago!!

Lost 2lbs tonight, that's 6.5lbs in 3weeks so I'm delighted! Worried about this week as I an going to stay with my sister. She eats healthy but uses olive oil so I'll just have to syn that. Have brought loads of Muller lights and fruit to hopefully see me through. Bought the taste of Asia book and the recipes look delicious. Can't wait to come back home and try them... thanks for the recommendation!! Gotta stay positive this week and hopefully next week will have my half stone!!!!

YAY well. Done to Lexi and BMG on your weight losses :) The SW Asia cook book is bril :) happy cooking - definitely nom nom lol. Good luck for your weigh in Becky, I weigh tonight. And BMG you have to live too so just do the best you can around a week with your sister - you can still damage limit and maybe if you tell her she may help - give her the gift of fry light you may convert her :). Whatever happens it's one week x

Morning ladies...so weigh in this morning, another 3lb lost this week, so Im very happy. Went to my first class this morning and I felt great, I dont know why I was so worried, everyone was so lovely and your right I definitely feel more motivated to try and get as much off this week as I can :). Well done ladies on your losses :). Meant to have a look at the cook books but was so chuffed with my weight loss I completely forgot. This is definitely the diet for me!!

Well done Becky and really glad you enjoyed your class :). It's just dawned on me today re being careful with mince meats ie value beef mince 100g 6.5 (waitrose one) so you can soon sabotage your syns without realising otherwise :( SW book says less than 5% fat is free, less than 12% 100g is 2, less than 20% fat 100g is 6 and more than 20% fat is 9! These are raw weights. Ie saving money on the shopping can cost us in syns unless we are aware and count it. There are vales in the book for pork and turkey mince too if it's not lean so do check. Of course it may only be me that's made this faux pas but so glad I've now realised - only as I'm not at work today I've seen it - oops

Thanks for that Aquasharine, very handy to know, I too didnt realise this till class this morning. Also this morning I found out that you cant really have a smoothie from blended fruits as they dont count as free if you blend them as your not chewing the fruit :-/ I dont have a blender but I thought this might have been a good idea till this morning. Still struggling with breakfasts especially now Ive found out that Quaker oats - Oat so simple original satchets are not one of healthy extra choices anymore :-( I had some friends round for lunch today so had a bag of quavers with my HEb roll and free filling, 6.5 syns but went for the larger pack on the syn calculator as there isnt a weight on the packet :-(.
Anything interesting for dinner tonight?

We have chicken curry - from freezer as made previously but used skinless chicken drumsticks, potatoes, onions, spinach, chopped tomatoes and Schwartz slow cooker chicken pkt mix - five syns a packet - I made using 2 sachets as cooked for the whole family - instructions are on the pkt. Legs disintegrate in the slow crock though so prob best to use either skinless thighs or chicken breast, as the legs have some smaller bones.

Just making a pasta sauce to out with pasta for work tomorrow - tin tomatoes, chopped onion, celery, spinach, sweet potato, Schwartz Italian herb mix - 2 Tsp, will chop up some Quorn sausages 1 syn each in it and take with some pasta in a pot so I can microwave - hubby can take it too as I have him on it too. Made enough for 2 days.

Breakfast - 35g Dorset muesli HEX with 100% total Greek yoghurt, frozen mixed berries defrosted and 1 tbsp honey (2.5 syns) or slice of Bach bread HEX with 2 microwaved eggs, tbsp Tom ketchup optional at 1 syn - microwave egg cookers are fab for anyone that doesn't have much time :)

Wow, you seem really on the ball for different recipes etc, will defo have to look into getting a microwave egg cooker, going to cook a chicken tonight with skin removed, frylited roast pots with steamed veg and gravy :) I do love a roast especially when the weather is like this (rain and gale force winds). My partner isnt actually doing slimming world but he is eating the same evening meals as me so hopefully he may see a small difference. That breakfast sounds really yummy will have to try that. My biggest confusion of the day however is that my weighing scales have gone amiss, really cannot understand where as I only used them at Christmas?!? I tried the syn free rice pud recipe yesterday, it is really lovely but I think I put too much cinnamon in :S.
Any recommendations on fitness DVDs to do at home?

Well done everyone on your weight loses we are all going in the right direction. I am getting lots of ideas off everyone it's great. We had chilli and rice for tea today sin free and the whole family love it they don't even know how healthy it is. I have bought some porridge oats and I am going to try the pancakes for breakfast on Saturday morning according to my SW classmates they are lush, I will let you know. I'm going out to an all you can eat Indian restaurant tomorrow with work so will have to have a flexy day as well as make some healthier choices.

Hi just weighed and went tonight as I'm off with a viral thing at the mo and even with that short trip may need to rethink going into work tomorrow :(. Anyway I lost 2.5 lbs so 12lbs in five weeks :) I bought myself some new kitchen scales from Asda a couple of weeks ago. Salter ones, you can pop your food bowl on them and default back to zero and can weigh in grams or ounces - definitely worth the investment. I also have a food processor which is great to make homemade breadcrumbs, chop etc - kitchen essentials if I'm to be dabbling with all these new yummy recipes.

Looking for a slimming buddy.

An all you can eat buffet? My word your willpower will be tested. :)

Re: Looking for a slimming buddy.

Ps I don't work shifts but hubby does so tend to eat as tho I do do shifts! :) also doing it at home mot with a class! How are you doing it?

Re: Looking for a slimming buddy.

The same at home not a class. Ive dont the classes before but didnt like them....think its a confidence thing.
Im weighing every tuesday and started again this tuesday so fingers crossed will have a result on the first week.
Working nights its really hard because when i get in i just want to sleep and not eat and then when i wake up im really hungry and want to eat right then and not bother with cooking anything so take away has always been easiest but i need to try and kick the habbit. Although havent suceeded so far....we had take away for tea tonight so ive used pretty much all my sins for the rest of the week.

Nees a willpower boost i think haha
Xx

Re: Looking for a slimming buddy.

I have around 4.5 to lose to although im not really going in weight id just like to feel comfortable in size 12-14 clothes....which i havent been for years!!!

My willpower will be tested luckily I can't eat a lot in one go I'm more of an all day grazer. I will be having the whippy ice cream but with fruit for afters and I won't be drinking as driving so that's a bonus.

Well done Becky in attending your first class. I think everyone would agree staying for the chat afterwards every week makes a difference! Not a great day today as was travelling all day. Breakfast was fine and lunch was fine but arrived at my sisters and she had homemade lasagna which wasn't sw friendly. Also had a couple of jelly babies and a few liquorice allsorts. Haven't done my food diary yet to check the syns but way over 15 I'd say. Not gonna be too hard on myself because I was travelling for more or less 12hours by car and boat with my parents and my 2children... oldest was 2at start of may and youngest just 6months. Poor them as their food and sleep routines were up the left. But we finally got here and my oldest was so glad to see his cousins (4 of them). Gonna nod off to sleep now! Need to get the recipe for syn free rice pudding if anyone has it and also intrigued about the pancakes with porridge oats??? I love coming on here to get inspiration! We rock girls!!!!!

Re: Looking for a slimming buddy.

I know what you mean about class I'm quite shy but found the couple of classes I tried were clicks so felt quite lonely! Also seemed silly to pay £5 to listen to a lost a pound b lost a pound then come home! To be honest I found more support on this site on a few days and on facebook than I did at 18 weeks st class .....I also managed to come away heavier than I started!

It's a good idea to go by clothes size cos its so easy to get hung up on the number on the scales rather than how good you feel, I know I've had good weeks, felt slimmer but the scales sys or gained and so I've gone home and blown the whole next week if not more!

Wow that is one long journey BMG and with the little ones too. Remember flexible syns and damage limitation - you have to have a good time too and it can be difficult when others have full control of the kitchen but from what you've said your sister does cook healthy. Don't beat yourself up x

A friend the Stares posted the attached yesterday - ok we'd have to count puree water melon but 100g is 1 syn or we could use diet lemonade or sugar free squash with fruit rather than the puree fruit. Just an idea as not made them but they look good!

I agree re staying to class - didn't last night as I have a virus (off work with it st mo) and I did miss it. ImageUploadedByMiniMins.com1368164025.818171.jpg
