Lost 4lbs in a year!!!!!!!!

It's a shame isn't it - cheap food is the filler for the less well off. America's portions are mad crazy too. I've been to NY and went for a meal of crab cakes. There was me expecting 2 fishcake size things and literally 2 the size of cannonballs came out! Well not cannonballs but medium grapefruits for sure!
Again snacks at the bar instead of a packet of scampi fries I got a massive large plate sized ring of king prawns - it was delicious but massive and once you start eating big you can really pack it away. Over Christmas my appetite bacame huge as I became used to eating much larger meals, it's gone back to normal now but I could easily become a food hoover again!

I was looking for more interesting recipes today and came across this website - foodporn! Slimming World Recipes - Slimming Eats . If you click the read more button she goes through the recipes with step by step pictures so you can see it at every stage. I've got my eye on the butternut squash stuffed with spicy chicken. I'm only allowed to look at it after I've eaten cos else I get hungry!

I like that website too but am switching to a no grain, less carb type effort within SW - not Atkins cos that's not my thing - just need to rein in portion control cos I am still overeating. Going to try and serve myself 2/3 of usual serve for dinner and if after an hour I am hungry will have more, instead of stuffing self. Found The Diet | Perfect Health Diet makes sense to me & pretty much what I have been aiming for and less restrictive than primal (but they seem to be posting about potato refeeds lately!).

My SW recipe books came but I'm still waiting for the directory. They're great for ideas. I'm going to make syn free falafels with tandoori onions and chips. I'll have a wee plate of SF soup first to up my superfree.

It's just human nature to eat more when a portion's supersized.

Are you still losing LTM? Or have you hit a plateau?

Havinbg looked at that more closely I now see it's excluding most grains and breads and beans. No not a chance of sticking with that either - even more restrictive than Atkins! I think the argument of them containing "toxins" is really too flimsy and rather pseudo-science. I can understand a wholefoods approach and a fermented foods and broths etc are really good for digestion but the body is perfectly capable of cleansing itself, also a little wary of why so many supplements required. So not for me but if it helps you with portion control and you think it'll suit then best of luck with it. Is this going to be more RED days on plan? I used to quite like red - more so in the summer when I can hace chicken salads etc for lunch.

Oooooh! I've just seen an advert for 4 new flavours of KitKat Chunky! :17729: Mint, Coconut, Choc Fudge and Hazelnut! Come on now BB ... you can't tell me an Options Hot Choc beats that!

Sorry to butt in, but had to comment when I saw what you put about the Kitkat chunkys! When I saw the ad, my jaw dropped and I had to stop myself dribbling! :ignore:

I love the peanut butter ones!! Why do they do this to us!! Now trying to chant KITKAT CHUNKYS ARE VILE KITKAT CHUNKYS ARE VILE KITKAT CHUNKYS ARE VILE :p

I fell off the wagon over Xmas but have lost my gain if you know what I mean. This week I am showing a gain but I have done 2 kettlebell classes, a run and 2 swims in 2 days so it's probably my muscles holding onto water - least I hope so.
I just find SW too easy to abuse, I know grains are my fall down & I hate how I feel after eating them - that said I do like porridge once a week with fruit and syrup as a treat and will keep that. I love fat, meat and veg more than bread, cake, biscuits etc (that said I used to binge on white carbs like crazy - 6 slices of toast and I wouldn't even sit down, just stand by the toaster and scoff em and this would be after dinner or eat 4 or 5 kit kats when I was fed up or emotionally stressed - if you offered me one normally I'd have no probs refusing. Huge bowls of pasta and butter because my ex pissed me off. Now I still get the same emotional triggers but eat differently - chicken or pickles! or manage to work through them - now and again nothing but a choc bar will do but it's one or two a month not per hour).
So after all that waffle ... have I hit plateau? Hoping by introducing more intense short exercise and low carb in the week will get me moving again but to be honest finding it hard to see myself as a "slim girl" & am suprised I got this far, so maybe some subconscious sabotaging going on.

Beats it, defo not, but would help give me the power to resist.

Got a crunchie in the kitchen drawer calling to me tonight! Spent 10 syns already today so will have to test my theory later.

The directory arrived this morning and the good news is that my 15 1/2 day was only 14 1/2 . The bad news is that supernoodles have 10 syns and I'd thought they were free! Ho, hum!

Burned off a whole 80 cals on the wi fit this afternoon whilst son and youngest grandson kindly ate all my jaffa cakes. Poor wee soul has been off work with man flu so he needed them more than me.

Bought a new blender, just a cheapish one but it chops and whisks as well. The most important thing though is that it comes apart for washing. My old one didn't and it drove me nearly insane trying to get it cleaned properly without getting the motor wet.

I'm still liking EE but it's good that we can do red/green/EE and mix it up a bit. I'm trying to have fish twice a week but don't always manage it, I also add linseeds to my porridge on a Monday as I really find they make a difference to my skin, thanks Gillian McKeith, but they're 3 syns a spoonfull. That's nearly 1/3 of a crunchie!

I love the peanut butter ones!!

I had hoped to like them Sharon but found the peanut butter a bit stale and crumbly dry - unless you dunk it in a cuppa. My peanut butter choccy bar of choice is a ....Starbar! Basically just a big log of peanut butter covered with chewy caramel and a [too skinny] layer of chocolate - lush! Although I might need to check out the KK Chunky Hazelnut and Choc Fudge one just to make sure Starbar's still number 1!

Your exercise is intense and it may be you see an improvement in your shape due to muscle mass even if the scales don't move. I totally empathise with the "eating your emotions" I did that from a very young age and it was always the easy way to smother bad feelings with food. I too have done it in the past and I know I'm doing it - I hate that I'm doing but in that moment I don't care and it just starts off a self-hate cycle. I'm much more positive about myself now - my body does an amazing job keeping me alive and I need to treat it and myself more kindly. Don't we all?

Supernoodles like those 3 minute noodles always have an oily [but tasty!] feel to them after they're cooked which you don't get with regular noodles - think that's why they're so high in syns due to fat content.
Guess the same for linseeds due to high fat even though good omegas - just seems wrong that good fats like that are so high in syns - not like you're going to stuff your face with linseeds cos they're so tasty - not! I'm surprised their high fibre content doesn't decrease their syn value ... even if they did I'd still rather have that third of a Crunchie!

Even though linseed is high in syns from what I can see they base it in calorific quantities and some of your linseed calories are not absorbed, like in nuts, due to fibre - so it's not as bad as it seems - definitely not as bad as a smell of a Crunchie!

That's true it helps with err "bowel transit" :D. I personally don't like the slimy mouthfeel of it apart from in one of the Eat Natural cereal range - I used to eat a small bowl dry as a snack with a cup of tea - it was delicious due to it's natural honey, almonds and raisins but mega syn value so avoiding for now.

How as your eating been today LTM - have you felt comfortable abou it?

Quite happy today .... breakfast - banana and water. Lunch - slice turkey and a slice of ham with spoon cabbage and mixed salad. Dinner - sweet potato, squash and chilli soup. Snack - small slice gammon (on George Foreman) Friday night in - 3 vodka and slimline. Cheats - one wine gum & a ravioli from DD's dinner.
Plenty carbs and protein. Feel full and happy - and maybe now a little bit merry ....
And believe we can all do this - enjoy days and loose weight ...

Well LTM you ARE a slim girl and by the sounds of it a darn fit one. You've lost a lot of weight in a short space of time so it's not surprising that your self image hasn't caught up. This journey that we are on isn't just about getting the weight off. It's about creating new sustainable habits and identifying with them. This is me, I am slim and I eat healthily. That's not an easy job. You are getting near target so your weight loss will be slowing down. It's tempting to panic and either, give up and start binging because you can't identify/don't deserve it, or start getting too strict and making your diet unsustainable when you get to target. Last time I got to target I was counting carrots!!! Be kind to yourself and take your time.
