maintenance with 5:2

You are doing brilliantly at having "normal" days when not fasting and certainly what I should be aiming for.

Think my philosophy is if I'm having an indulgent meal I plan my breakfast and lunch to be low and or if I look at a 3 course menu, I look at all options and if there's a fatty pudding I choose starter and main healthily, or if I spy an indulgent main ill choose a healthy starter and skip pudding. I used to always go home after a meal feeling bloated and uncomfortable, now I enjoy every mouthful. We can always go back to eat again, I don't need to have the most calorific starter main and dessert.... It's seriously worked so well for me, especially in restaurants when you don't know how the food is cooked! Butter and oils I mean. Long may it continue. Xxx
 
Done all my exercise today and sitting on 827kcals had my branflakes, vanilla yoghurt and sultanas for breakfast, sushi, pink n white, salt n sweet popcorn for lunch and just had a caramel latte ( nescafe sachet 68kcals ) turkey n veg for tea xxx
 
279kcal tea, yummy! Was so tasty, no gravy, but the turkey was moist and I'd overcooked the broccoli and cauliflower so it did turn to mush lol. Xxx

Finished on 1588 for the day, I'm happy with that. Hubby joining me on 5:2 from tomorrow for the health benefits. Mon and wed. he gets 600kcals though! Jammy sod! Xxx

Thanks crazy fool I now just do what I do, and it's part of a routine now. I'm looking forward to getting down a bit in weight though so I can carry on with 5:2 or 6:1 :) hopefully won't take long xxx
 
Working 10-4 today and its a fast day. Been up with hubby since just before 6 as he's doing his first fast day today. I've had my black coffee, done my fast n furious and am now hula hooping. Then ill have my 109kcal latte :) or I might actually have my 68kcal caramel latte? Will see what mood takes me when I'm down stairs lol. Starting to feel slim again, can see my shape, love how easy and unrestrictive this way of life is. No stopping till I see 8.10 then 6:1... Will prob reduce to 5:2 at 9.1 if I feel I want to but if not, I know I can maintain with 6:1. Today is a good positive day! Xxx
 
I've taken to hula in my sports bra so I can feel the pain lol! And see the wobble! Haha! Bit of a pain freak lol! Have a great day too! Xxx

Morning Carrie! Have a great day! Good news you DH is joining you. I am trying to convince mines try SnS with me even for a week as I think it would kick start him to keep going just eating and drinking less. A detox if you like.

Been meaning to ask you about 5:2 non fast days, in you opinion do you think the non fast day still has to be an intake of X calories e.g. TDEE calories in order to successfully lose weight? So not strict calorie counting on non fast days but certainly a reduced amount compared to what one ate pre 5:2 on non fast days? I still string le with eat "normally" on non fast days as that normal eating got me fat and probably for most people.

I have a friend who like you has very successfully lost on 5:2 and she does walk her dog every day in the evening for 20-30 mins and then at weekend score longer but no other exercise. She says she simply eats normally on non fast days and she lost it over a period of time. I'm not entirely convinced as I think she did a very strict version last year in jan to mid march where she shed the bulk of her weight and confined its 5:2. I think she's a secret dieter and that's fine as iris so personal and I am too as I don't like people to know I am doing vlcd. Even though I can see from your diary you are doing 5:2 effectively I guess what I am saying or asking is if you went back to your old "normal" eating on non fast days would you gain? Is "normal" now different.
 
I'd day the main difference for me is I don't overindulge all the time, carriewills1980 is my user name in mfp if you wanna see my eating on non fast days. Some days it's around 1800-2200 but some are lower and some are higher. When I was maintaining if I'd had a particularly naughty day I'd add in the second fast. If I'm out for a meal I choose my bad ie the starter, main OR dessert... Not all three. Some people don't count but for me I need to see where the calories are, as its so easy to increase our portion sizes or snacks then not know where we're going wrong? I've had very indulgent days ( in excess of 3500kcals) and still maintained. It's trial and error to find each individual balance. :) xxx
 
What does TDEE mean
?

Tdee means total daily expected expenditure... Ie your bmr including daily activities and exercise. :) xxx
