May money challenge

I spent £6.60 last night as numpty that i am forgot to get anything out of the freezer for his night shift and only remembered at 6.30 when he leaves at 7! Whoops!

Double whoops it was the chip shop, although i shared his chips and only had an ickle sausage :p

£22 left til Friday, hoping to not touch the £20 so it can go in my pot on Friday.

Anyone else find money goes quicker once you break it?

I was going to do this and work out my outgoings first but the problem with that is that my overdraft is so huge I'll be back in it once all my bills come out tomorrow. So I've decided to just try £20 per week.

Can you reduce it monthly Sparty? Mine i can reduce in multiples of £20, so maybe try that so you can do it in stages?

Ah see when it's change i dip into it in my pot :) i'm far less inclined to take out a note than i am a few quid lol

I've got myself one of those tins you can't open unless you use a tin opener. I'm putting £2 coins into mine although I don't seem to get many anymore. Anyone else noticed that?!

Might have to make it £1 coins instead!

I have money boxes for everything. A coppers one, a 20p one a new wardrobe one and a savings one. I'm addicted

Ooh i do have one of those lying around actually, they were in poundland i believe, i mostly bought it because it had Eyeore on it tbh :)

I'd say, make it whatever you like, i used to do anything 50p and above, and i have a pot for copper's (well 1's 2's 5's 10's) that i change up periodically at Tesco in their little counting machine thingymabob.

Have had a couple of £2's but they have been dodgy and rejected, like last week at the Dartford tunnel, it was not fun trying to scramble for money at rush hour because a shop had given me a dodgy £2 coin!

Can I be really cheeky and ask how much you guys spend per month on things like food?

There's myself, hubby and our 2 year old in our house and I seem to spend a fortune on food????

Nooooooooooo don't use them machines they charge loads to use them. My nat west bank has a machine you put your card in, and there's a huge slot you pour it all in and it goes straight to your account

30 quid a week plus a bigger amount every. 4-6 weeks but some of that goes in my coin jars so it'll be less. But there's only me and my. 2 yr old.
He's out of nappies now so I put the nappy money in his savings account instead it's a godsend not shelling out for nappies.

I don't need to even spend. 30 most weeks. Having a man In house does make a huge difference tho they eat loads lol I remember my ex used to down my 3 quid fresh orange juice like it was tap water lol gone in like 10 seconds

2 Year old out of Nappies?? When does that happen!! lol :)

I'd say probably about 200 a month for two adults, that's normally £150 big shop and then little things every week.

Yes men do eat more and it's normally meat too, hubby had a bit of a strop in tesco as he had to buy some meat and was going round exclaiming "that's a bloody rip off I could go out to dinner for less than that!" Ground couldn't swallow me fast enough, but he wasn't wrong lol.

He's right and look at price of bloody extra lean mince compared to normal but then there 20% fat if that block of mine was split visibly to 80 % of meat then a chunk of the fat solid on the side. We wouldn't buy it no one I bet would.

But then I'm saving a fortune on diet coke crap eating out and take always. So it's swings n roundabouts

Ah I see, I was gonna say, Alfie seems no where near being out of them at 2years 1 month.

Haven't had any spare time at work (not that i'm meant to) so I still haven't checked what my budget is. All I know is that Hub's, Me and the Joint account put £25 a week each into our shopping account and yet I always end up with a credit card bill for more so I think i'm spending about £100 a week, minimum??!!!!
