Music for me is a must when walking so pretty much going to be the same when riding. What do you listen to? Xx
As long as you are on flat paths it's dead easy will be surprising how far you get! Worth getting a bike computer can get them for about a fiver it's good to see west you have covered, gradually you will see your average mph increase. Don't try anything other than flat until you're comfortable yeah your gears! I managed to make a complete tit of myself heading to the local forest with oh and friends who were all into downhill riding (dirt jumps and lots of mud) before I had the gears Sussed on my new shiny bike - the advanced trails are not for 'just trying!' cue a full on strop from me as deep mud is NOT easy to ride in!
It's the music that keeps me going (everyone now and then someone decides to come with me, very annoying would rather just the iPod!
I find most effective music to ride to is heavy metal, however if you're more of the dance music persuasion I am sure it has the same effect as long as you set up a decent playlist with a reasonably high number of beats per minute (think loud and dirty big bass beats)
