What I did instead of eating...
Haven't posted in this for a few days, but have been on the forum.
I watched the "Will My Crash Diet Kill Me" channel 4 programme -- and have tremendous respect for the three dieters who participated in the programme, and deep disappointment in the producers who sensationalised the diets and did not discuss them with nutritionists, psychologists, etc.
The "presenter" was a physician -- but I do not think they what said she specialised in, if anything, so she could have been a opthmologist for all I know. Also, on the thread regarding this programme posters mentioned that the doctor looked overweight and I think so, too. They never showed her whole length and her arms were quite heavy. I think she was not a good choice for this programme, as I would find it difficult to take advice from someone who was not following it themselves. (I changed CD counsellors -- and one of the reasons was that the first one was so overweight.)
I would have liked to have seen some scientific data and physchological discussion about how these diets affect participants, and also about how being overweight affects people (physically and mentally). Note: I really felt that the Cambridge WLP should not have been "shown" side by side with the true crash diets of the maple syrup and cabbage soup.
If you have not seen the film Supersize Me -- I highly recommend it. The individual who made this film, had a physical before starting his "experiemental diet", explained what his "rules" about the diet would be, had input from people who cared about him (his girlfriend was a vegan chef), and it seemed to be a very fair assessment of what was happening to him. Also, he had another physical to show the effects of the diet on his body.
In addition to watching tele and doing our laundry -- still no ironing -- (but I did spend over two hours at a launderette doing a friend's mountain of wash, whilst she was at a medical appointment), I also did the daily dishes, cooking, shopping, etc. (normal house chores), but I have not enough and not all I should have done (so, I feel even more behind than usual) and this is because I have been very social.
I had my daugher's class presentation on Wednesday afternoon (and visited with a friend between the show and having to pick DD up from her afterschool activity). Then, I rushed home to make dinner and went out to play Bunco with the RAF Wives on Wednesday night (so it was a late night).
Thursday was out the door early to go with the friend to help with the wash -- then shop afterwards, and then it was a rush home to do the gymnastics transport, call the vet as our dog's tail seems very hurt, had my DH take the dog to vet as I sorted dinner and got ready to go out to ladies' quiz nite (our team won by 1/2 a point). I also won a raffle prize... does not make up dog being in pain or for the vet bill of 56 pounds, but it did make me think about Yin and Yang.
Friday was another social thing -- a daytime Pampered Chef Party (and quite far from here, but my friend drove). There was a terrible accident (whilst we at the party) and the main roads were closed when we went to leave. So we took our other friend straight to her hair appt. (and dropped her a good point to walk, as trying to get through the traffic would have made her very late). Then we parked, did a little shopping, and had a coffee while she had her hair cut and styled (less than an hour). I had to get home, get dinner sorted, and waited for DD to get home -- as she as her transport was stuck in traffic. After dinner, I booked our flights to go to Texas in April(my sister has been asking me to sort this) and sent some emails regarding the trip...
Finally, I relaxed to watch the "Diet" programme that I had recorded on Wednesday.
I almost never have so many social things in one week: I go weeks without any. So, this has made me fall behind in the house, with my fitness plans, errands, etc. I have a lot of make up work to do over the weekend.
I'll check out the forum for a bit longer, have my first CD product for the day, then get with DD to work on her room.
